A very atmospheric old inn, with lovely courtyard and garden, and various cosy nooks in the bar. Worth paying for the room upgrade to get the full experience. The pizzas in the garden were good quality and Sunday roast was good too, but the breakfast was more average. Service when dining was a little variable, but good enough during my visit. Dunster Castle and its gardens was what drew me to this hotel, and it's a lovely quaint little village for 2-3 night breaks, possibly longer if you have a car to make day trips with. The bus journey from Taunton station was fairly long and overcrowded, but that's to be expected during school summer holidays. The EX1 coach trip to Lynton or onward to Ilfracombe is a nice journey with great scenery if you are combining Dunster with Devon. Unfortunately they could not run the open-top buses as the various councils / land owners had not cut back their trees to make it safe on the upper deck.

A little limited on vegetarian options in the bar food menu, service erratic at times, but always friendly. A little more effort on the breakfast menu would be appreciated.

Loved the location in the centre of Dunster, a tiny medieval village which was very picturesque. Easy parking outside in the main village, but also a car park 2 min walk away. The hotel was quaint and traditional without being tired. Our rooms were very clean and spacious with clean, traditional bathrooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good. We had pizza in the garden one night, and ate in the restaurant the next evening.

We felt slightly rushed in the restaurant - we had booked a table for 8pm, but I hadn't realised this was considered a late booking, and the last in a relatively quiet service. We had the feeling the kitchen were keen to close. I think I would have liked to have been informed that the kitchen closes at 8.30 or 9.00 and been given the option to arrive earlier, rather than accommodating an 8pm arrival and then rushing us through. However, the waiter was very friendly and the food was excellent, so this is a minor point.

Breakfast was lovely and a lot of choices. The staff were lovely, polite and very helpful. Everywhere was clean and tidy. Location fantastic for walking and looking around the shops. I love that there are so many places to sit aroubd the hotel.

The food was brilliant, but I wish the menu changed a bit more often i.e. the specials menu could change every other day. Also there was a guy not sure if he was one of the Managers tall with curly hair who needs to learn some more customers skills. He was quite rude, maybe he could smile a bit especially he is one of the managers.

The Luttrell Arms is a 'Medieval' style building in an ancient town. Its' character is carried through into the ambience of the public rooms, the bar, lounge and restaurant which are wonderfully decorated and furnished. The staff are welcoming, happy, smiling people and made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable. Dinner and breakfast were tasty and the wine waiter was very helpful in providing advice, and a tasting to ensure we would enjoy his recommendation, which we did! We also enjoyed pre-dinner drinks and post dinner drinks in the lounge and reluctantly said goodnight to the staff following a delightful evening.

The weather! On a fine weather day the garden and outdoor spaces look very inviting.

The food was a bit disappointing fish overdone at evening meal poached eggs rock hard at breakfast One of our evening meals was forgotten so me and my husband ending up eating our meals separately and it was our wedding anniversary so a bit of a let down Staff were very apologetic and gave us a complimentary bottle of wine

The setting, the room and the music festival. The staff very friendly, Luke was excellent.

A couple of small things, having to order different food types from different locations, when these are all on the same till. We ordered 3 meals on the first night that included chips, no chips received and waiter thought they weren’t included, due to busy queues we went without. It was a very busy night and in the scheme of things we didn’t bother to complain. Not a major problem just a hiccup.

Very characterful pub in a fab location close to Exmoor. Dunster is also a lovely village in which to spend a few days away with the castle in very easy reach from the Luttrell. Liked the fact that the Luttrell also reimbursed me for my parking in the pay and display car park around the corner as they do not have their own parking (although there are also some free slots opposite the Luttrell if you are lucky enough to bag one of these). Bookable eating pods in the garden looked great, although I did not have the chance to try one out. Guest lounge upstairs was also a pleasant & welcome surprise.

I thought my room was quite small. The food in the evening (in the bar) was very good, but a bit pricey. (Although I understand there are also pizzas available in the garden, if the weather is good).

The building inside was .amazing and so very old and interesting. Our bedroom was a medieval hall with hammerbeam ceiling and full of interesting features. All the Hotels Staff were really nice and friendly. There was a really good garden which had a gate into Dunster park. The garden overlooked the village roofs and Dunster Castle, and was on level with the first floor bedrooms and easily accessible from upstairs. This is a dog friendly hotel and there were good features for the dog owners, i.e. towels near doors.

Very little really. Dunster is not easy to park in and the hotel does not have a car park of its own. However there is a public car park within a few hundred yards and we managed to park in the village itself.

Wonderful rooms and a feeling of luxury with the design and quality. Great garden and direct access to walks for the dog. Mainly brilliant and professional staff (at check in and the breakfast staff in particular). The evening meal was delicious.

We just found the bar/waiting staff at dinner to be quite loud and chatting amongst themselves, and overall not very attentive. We were reserved a table in the bar area but sort of left, ordering at the bar after sometime. The meal was fantastic however but at those price we’d expect a bit more than just the standard of the food.
