The history of the building was very interesting & the location was perfect for where and what we wanted to visit. The hotel was nicely appointed, not trendy or stuffy. We enjoyed looking at all the memorabilia from the olden days. The bar/dining was excellent. Fair prices, good food and service. Even though we did not bring our dogs, this place is very dog friendly. And, we loved the rocking chairs out on the patio. The live music was wonderful. We really had a great long weekend here. It was our 1 year wedding anniversary and we'll definitely be back!
We found not one thing that we didn't like. Zero complaints from us.

I liked that it was a historic hotel and that they tried to keep the history of hotel alive. There was music in the evening and rocking chairs for sitting outside on the patio. The staff was friendly and helpful! There was restaurant and bar on-sight but we didn't eat there so can't comment.
The breakfast was free, had very little selection. Things like milk were were an extra charge. The ambiance was nice, it had the feel of this is what it was like to travel and stay over 100 years ago. Loved that part of the experience.

Size of suite. Comfortable clean bedding / towels and separate sitting room. Nice personal porch. Close to Blowing Rock NC for shopping. Parking in town can be a issue, so be prepared. Also Close to Boone , NC a college town with additional dining options. The highlight of our stay was the Friday / Saturday night social area evening entertainment by some very well known retired professional musicians. Lots of personal interactions and some musical history lessons.
Minor items , like for our suite, the walk to the bathroom. Some bulbs out in the bathroom. Heating / Cooling unit a bit noisy, but bearable. All of the is was very understandable considering the Hotel was opened in 1891 as the Grand Dame of the area, 2nd oldest in NC and on the National Historical Register. Still has American Chestnut Wood floors and how long ago have those trees been extinct ! Entirely excusable.

The history behind the inn made this an interesting stay. Everything was clean and well kept considering the age. It was dog friendly that meant a lot to us who travel with their dog family. Staff was friendly and did their job efficiently. Charlie Ellis at the piano was a delightful treat. We would easily be a great stop for any of our friends.
That we couldn’t stay longer.

It's a beautiful inn and it had the comfort of staying at your beloved grandmother's house. It might not be for everyone, but I enjoy the vintage touch.
The shower was a little finicky to figure out. It took several minutes for the water to heat up and the temperature knobs didn't gauge it very well as I had to keep adjusting as I was in there to get to my desired temperature. Otherwise, nothing!

Location of GP Inn. Blowing Rock Loved the quaintness of the Inn. All staff we interacted w were excellent. As a child 66 years ago when we drove past this Inn I wished I could stay here one day. I fulfilled that dream this weekend.
Well this is an inn not a modern hotel! It seemed a few services you would find there were missing. Limited menu at bfast. Needed a peculiar seating time/reservation which wasnt a problem for us but could be for others. As is a problem everywhere they seemed low in staff.

We love the history of this beautiful old Inn. The bed was very comfortable. Staff were friendly and accommodating. It is a short drive into the village of Blowing Rock. Great get-away.
I found the soap size amusing. It's probably a cost cutting item. For one night it was fine, but others might want a larger piece.

Loved the historic and peaceful feeling of this hotel. It’s a beautiful place with comfortable beds and nice rooms. The breakfast included was very good. The breakfast was made to order. I will definitely be staying there again. The highlight of the evening was listening to two gentlemen play the piano & guitar and entertaining us with their talents in the lobby Both men in their 80’s played Exceptionally well.
Nothing to complain about.
