It’s a charming older B & B in a residential area, a few blocks from a district with lots of restaurants and stores. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. I liked that I could open the window to get some fresh air. Bathroom was spacious, with a very nice shower. The staff were quite helpful and kind. Breakfast in the dining room was included, which we didn’t expect, making this a truly good value. And the breakfast was exceptional!
Would have liked a mini-fridge for cold water and leftovers from our dinner.

Breakfast was quite simply amazing ... Fabulous choice and friendly servers. Room extras were fab too, was not expecting so many nibbles. Shampoo/conditioner smelled amazing, I wish I'd taken note of brand. Parking was good, we were literally 10 steps to door. I met people who use this hotel often when visiting family at local University and I can imagine myself being one of them now. Local bus service is available at end of street, although we didn't use. Local taxi service was friendly and knew where to go instantly.
It's an older building... and with that comes older fixtures and fittings... I think it adds to appeal.. some may not.

Room was fabulous, and very roomy. Had a nice desk with complementary snacks and a kettle for brews. Breakfast was good and staff were a pleasure to chat with, even if briefly given the times I saw them.
Basically no issues except the internet was a touch slow on the TV in the room (however, TV channels were fine), and the light in the bathroom didn't work, but there was a second shaver light that was sufficient.

Room was huge! Was like a mini flat (minus a cooker! 😂) Tea, coffee, snacks etc was very appreciated. Beds and bedding where comfy and cozy. Beautiful views. Quite a quirky room, with period features but so lovely and welcoming. Plenty street parking and very close to restaurants and local area. Price was good too. Didn't stay for breakfast as we had the kiltwalk to get to but would definitely recommend ❤️
Took a while for hot water in the shower but that was started on the wall - due to age of building etc. Nothing actually spoiled the stay.

The owners were very welcoming and accommodating, with room upgrade. The room was cosy and quiet with very comfortable beds. From the breakfast menu we opted for full breakfast with toast and fresh coffee. We both struggled to complete such was the generous helping provided. Owners made our one night stay very pleasant and relaxing for both my teenage daughter and myself. Would not hesitate to return.
Guests may need to allow the showers time to supply the hot water from the tank.

The room was great, a perfect size for a solo traveller with a comfortable bed. The room included a small desk with some free water, crisps and biscuits with a kettle and the necessary stuff for tea or coffee. It also included a small TV with channels on to watch. The room also featured a spacious ensuite bathroom with small body wash/ shampoo to use.
While free WIFI was offered, this only worked in the common areas of the hotel, though the connection worked great in these areas.

The Shaftesbury was a quaint little hotel in a charming residential neighbourhood with ample street parking. It is just a short drive to the city centre. The rooms are clean with super comfortable beds. The staff are all fantastic and courteous The breakfast was excellent with cooked eggs, meats, fruit, yoghurt and juices. Had an excellent stay. Highly recommended.

Good location for what we needed & very clean. Tea/coffee/snacks, hairdryer & shampoo/shower gel in room. We requested our room to be ready early if possible due to attending a wedding that day nearby and they had it ready for our arrival at 11:45am, which was much appreciated.
Breakfast was served until only 9am, which doesn’t give you much chance for a lie-in. Would be helpful to run it until 10am, in time for check out at half ten.

What a great surprise finding the Shaftesbury Lodge Dundee. Found myself unexpectedly in Dundee for the day and night. Really didn’t want to fork out on city centre prices but wanted a good rated Hotel and found the Shaftesbury Hotel Dundee by chance. It’s around a 25 minute (1.4mi) walk from train station. Please don’t let the 25 minute walk put you off. The walk takes you past some of Dundee’s best rated coffee shops along Perth Road on route to the Hotel. The money saved on city centre hotel prices allows you to stop by these gems of coffee shops. Arrived 2 hours before check in and the manager was super cool and friendly about it. The room looked really cozy and noticed a bed I wanted to jump into at 1pm but more about that later. Room is of Victorian design with high ceilings. Extremely clean, tidy and cozy. Kettle, coffee, galaxy drink, Pringles, bottled water and tasty biscuits all on offer. Smart TV with various apps. I had Netflix & BBC iPlayer on. Plenty of fresh towels and a great shower. Oh! The bed? Quite simply Heaven! Taken a note of the bedding and pillows and will try to recreate at home. Just finished the all Scottish breakfast (other tasty options are available). The 25 minute walk allows you to burn off the coffee shop treats and big breakfast. Best 25 minute walk in Dundee😀. Was embarrassed to have found the room rate at only £60. Sometimes you get lucky. If I’m back for the football again will seek out the Shaftesbury. Staff very friendly and polite! Thank You.

We have stayed before and on both occasions the breakfast was tasty and the staff were charming, efficient, welcoming and kind. This time we asked at very short notice if our young niece could join us for breakfast and they gave her a perfect sized breakfast and were very kind to her.
There was nothing that we did not like. We plan to return later this year, and are looking forward to our next visit. We would like to say thank you to the staff.
