My private room was large and comfortable, located at the front by the big clock. Everything was convenient and mostly clean, with great showers, kitchen, and many rooms for work and hanging out. The building had a great history with beautiful signs on the history and restoration.

My only complaint was the street noise outside all through the night - mostly homeless people or gangsters yelling every night - extremely loud through the windows. Earplugs plus nose cancelling headphones over them were essential to sleep, and I’m not easily disturbed by noise normally! The neighbourhood was a bit edgy.

This is probably the nicest hostel I’ve ever booked. My room was large and clean. My private room also had a sink and tea kettle. The kitchen was large, clean, and well-organized. The property also has numerous public spaces, like a reading room and game room. The property is right in the city center and less than 10 minutes walk from both the train and bus stations.

Only a couple of things stopped me from rating this hostel a 10/10 (for a hostel). My room didn’t have anywhere for clothes, like a closet or even hanging rack. The bedding was too small, and my feet stuck out of the blankets all night. I had a room facing the main square, which got very loud at night.

We had a wonderful stay at this accommodation. The value for money is truly excellent — we stayed in a room with a private bathroom, and everything was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The location is perfect, close to everything we needed, and honestly, it didn’t lack anything compared to a typical rental room. The staff at the reception were always friendly and helpful, ready to assist us with anything we needed. Overall, a great experience and we would definitely come back!

Fabulous old building. We had a double room with an en suite. The Room was a pleasant surprise and was large and pleasantly decorated. It was clean and comfortable. Towels, kettle, tea and coffee included. Communal kitchen 1 flight down stairs with fridge and cooking facilities. Staff kept our luggage safe after checkout until we wanted to leave Dundee. Very central to town. The hotel prices in Dundee were very high for our stay and we nearly missed visiting it altogether so the backpackers was a great surprise for the price.

Windows don't shut fully as old and fail to keep outside noise out. Our room backed on to a pub but the noise was over by 11. Disturbed one morning at 5 am as Macdonald's restaurant had a delivery, but the hostel itself was quiet at night. Be aware that the old stone spiral staircase is hard to lug luggage up if you are at the top.

I had a single room this time. The first time was a dorm. Excellent clean rooms with comfy beds in both quarters , I'm 44, so if top bunk it's slightly harder to get in and out! Lovely public rooms , comfy reading room, tv lounge with 100's of DVD's. And a games room with pool table! Incredibly close to all attractions in Dundee, the hostel is across the road from Caird Hall. Only a short walk to V&A , Discovery ,DCA, Rep Theatre, Verdant works is about 20mins by foot.

Not a huge problem but shower was on the colder side to warm, however I only tried the one on my landing, others might have been better.

I booked a single room for one night and was pleasantly surprised by how spacious it was. The hostel facilities were way better than expected - a large, well-supplied kitchen and a couple of large, comfy lounges, making it a decent base for a longer stay. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

The mattress was verging on saggy. There's a lot of stairs and no lift, though they state this clearly in advance so it wasn't a surprise, just worth knowing when you arrive tired.

En-suite Shower room was very convenient. The bed was comfortable and the addition of a table and chairs was very useful for me to conduct basic laptop work. The lockers were a very generous size - I was able to store both a backpack and a holdall. The building was of historic value and the stone stair case added to ambiance. Rooms were carpeted and central heating was excellent.

I can't actually think of a negative about my stay. I was on the second floor but not a problem, even for my medical condition. There was only one thing to note and that was a bit of a leak in the reception area (Scotland had suffered from Storm Babet) but it was minor.

Very central, on the high st in Dundee (watch out for the small entrance, we walked past it). Good value for money, as Dundee is expensive. Kettle and tea and coffee in room. No food, but Henry's Coffee Lounge opposite and the Gidi Grill opposite is highly recommended. Good for visiting the V & A, waterfront and Discovery.

Our room was up several flights of stairs, but we did ask for a double room with private room, so not surprising, and the view was nice from the window.

The hostel was very central, great location and great view from our bedroom. We booked a private bedroom and even though it was with a shared toilet, the toilet was right outside the door and shared with only a few other rooms so always available and very clean. The whole hostel overall was impeccably clean, the room, the toilet especially and the common areas. We highly recommend it!

First time ever staying in a hostel & I seen good things being said about this particular hostel, so I decided to book a room. I managed to get a private room with my own bathroom for a respectable price. I liked it so much that I requested if I could extend for another night. I preferably wanted another single room & they luckily had one with a shared bathroom which was really great & for a good price aswell. All staff members I encountered were very friendly & accommodating to me. I will definitely stay at this hostel again when I travel & plan to stay overnight in Dundee.

There wasn't really anything I didn't like. I would prefer the checkout time to be a bit later, so I don't feel rushed but I understand that's the policy. The only thing which I can only think of which I didn't feel comfortable with was the Reading Room in the morning, as I checked out at 10am & the staff member said I could stay till 12am which was fine by me but when I entered the room, there was a couple of people sleeping in there throughout the room which wasn't ideal, as it looked like they were sleeping there during the night but I could be wrong. So I just decided to leave after checking out.
