We had a lovely weekend at the Cricketers Inn! Lovely little pub just outside of Petersfield. The food in the pub was amazing, and the wine menu was very extensive, including some of the owners own wine. The room was lovely and cosy, really comfortable bed and lots of space for our dog too. Breakfast was delicious, plenty to fuel us for the start of the day. Plenty of lovely walks nearby (we went to queens country park and we also visited Hambledon Vineyard for lunch which we’d fully recommend).
There wasn’t much around, in walking distance. But that was fine for us, as long as you know in advance.

An exceptional pub and guest house that truly stands out! The rooms are spotless and cozy, offering everything you need for a comfortable stay. However, the real highlight is the pub itself. The food is nothing short of extraordinary, and the service is absolutely top-notch—easily a 10/10. The bar staff are warm and welcoming, creating a friendly atmosphere, and the drink selection is superb. As for the food, it’s simply incredible. The roasted duck leg, in particular, is a masterpiece—easily the best I’ve ever had. Whether you’re looking for a place to stay or just want a memorable meal, I can’t recommend this spot highly enough. It’s an absolute gem that’s worth every visit!
A few of the facilities in the room need updating, for example the hairdryer was broken.

Staff went the extra mile , very comfortable and price wise for service was excellent.
Nothing, really not like. Maybe the shower in the room could do with updating . Booking said breakfast included! However it didn’t stipulate continental only breakfast in the room rate, so we expected to cooked breakfast was included as we didn’t have the continental. And no, was it explained that the cooked was an extra cost . However, a food was excellent and the price was good value .

very friendly staff, nice food quiet location. Spacious room with nice en-suite. We were stopping for Goodwood FOS and so a very good location for anybody coming from the North to the event or any other Goodwood event as its only less than 20 miles away. The beer was good and as the steak sandwich was described as being "famous" I had to try and and I certainly wasnt dissapointed. It was very good. We hadnt booked for dinner and it was full but the staff did squeeze us in so we could eat dinner which was a good job as it is rural and not sure where else we would have eaten.
I thought I had booked a twin for me and my son but that could have been my error and we ended up with a double (no big drama though. We have shared a 2 man tent !) but the bed was a metal frame bed that creaked a bit anytime either of us moved so did wake us up in the night once or twice. When it didnt creak though it was comfy. The TV reception wasnt great and so a singal booster might be a good idea. Finally, the staff did accomodate us for dinner but could have been a problem as we didnt book and so suggest booking ahead of arrival so as to be able to have dinner on arrival.

The room was nicely decorated and clean. The pub itself has character and nice feel to it. The staff, especially the lady on the morning shift, was lovely and remembered our hot drink preference the next day! We were there for their pizza night too, which was great.
We stayed for two nights and both nights at about 9.30/10pm the WiFi went off and then the TV wouldn't connect to netflix... the area/location is a blackhole for signal, so without WiFi it wasn't great. Through the day was perfect though.

Extremely nice twin room. Very comfortable beds. Nice welcome on arrival. Delicious continental breakfast. Nice to be asked if we would like toast which was brought to us. Warm croissants and pastries was a very nice touch.
There was nothing we didn't like. Just some constructive criticism in the walk in shower. It would be very useful and safer if there was somewhere to put/hang shower gel shampoo and shower net/sponge

Country village pub atmosphere with high quality rooms. Quiet. Excellent selection of beers on hand pumps. Modern menu at sensible prices for an evening meal. Would definitely mark the food as very good. continental breakfast included was adequate. It got a bit expensive if you wanted anything cooked. Lovely quiet rural walks around the village. Loads of parking.

The location is fine - on the edge of the village of Steep and just outside Petersfield. The Cricketers Inn is run in a very friendly and helpful manner - a family and great staff.
As an old building the bedrooms are quaint and furnished with old furniture. The character of the rooms is delightful but some people would prefer a modern room lay-out and bathroom. We were fine with it.

Loved the location, food and staff - so close to Petersfield which has evwry shop you might imagine just a 5/10min car ride away. Staff were excellent, very happy and helpful; suggesting port with cheese and sides of chips and generally being kind.
My only small niggle was the heating in the room - to be honest there was condensation on the window when we got in and I suspect the extractor fan in the shower maybe doesn't work? It was hot at night and being at the front, we didn't want to open the window. Green light in the middle of the main light was very bright too *I realise I'm an odd one here but hate lights of any kind in the dark* All else was amazing - new rooms, nice shower and great beds.

The breakfast was great! Cereal and fresh croissants. They made us coffee every day. The staff were so friendly and helpful! The rooms are great, everything you need for a couple of nights stay - clean and comfy beds.
We loved everything! No complaints!! (Except we would have loved to have dinner on the Sunday night there but most pubs don’t do dinner on a Sunday night!) You do need a car to get around!
