The Location was amazing, with walks going either east or west along the coastal clifftops, a lovely beach in between, and a path going out the back up an inviting valley away from the water (to the north). Our 1st floor (american 2nd floor) room had a lovely view. This place has been run by the same family for decades. I had the pleasure of meeting a son who grew up here, now back on holiday with his family.
We never saw any staff except at breakfast when a tomato and some bread was brought out one plate at a time. I was surprised that the eggs only came out when I was leaving.

A lovely, characterful place to stay that was a 5 minute walk from the beach. It had a very special atmosphere and a colourful and individual style. If you like quirky Casa Grande is definitely for you. Sally, the owner, is supported by friendly staff and always keen to engage guests in conversation. Breakfast with the other guests is an international affair and an old fashioned treat. There is a good car park.
The lights were a bit dim and our shower, whilst good and hot, had come off its wall fitting.

I really enjoyed staying here! Everyone there is super sweet and accommodating...It was incredible to see the history of the house and what it looked like when they bought it and how everything has grown up around it. Loooove the character of the place, the quirkiness. Breakfast was great, I liked that everyone eats together, you can meet people and it feels sweet and communal...Location is amazing, right in the sweet little town, walkable to the beach, (also loaned us beach supplies, thanks!) short drive to Lagos...
Unfortunately our room (the burgandy room? though it was actually pink) had an attached bathroom that was leaching pretty rough odors, keeping the door shut helped a lot but not when you needed to use it, they said it's the old plumbing so not much can be done about it so while I would recommend staying here, I would only do so in one of the other rooms with the understanding that it is a funky old house that maybe has not been updated or maintained overmuch for the last number of years...

It was … special. If you want to inhale the miracle of an 100 year old hous, his history and …. Even the lady who installed this since 1970 … then you have the seldom possibility to find and feel this here. The breakfast with all other guests in an over 100 years old table - great. We enjoyed so very much. Sallly, Marie and Galia were excellent and attentive hosts - and very charming. Would love to come back there - always
I did not like, I have not been on this great place before …

The people were fantastic and so helpful in every way. Sally was warm, welcoming, and so were her younger people that seemed to be long term guests that helped out. We were included in local events that we probably would not have known about like a FADO concert. Plus they were extremely helpful when we got in a bind with our rental car. Sally left me a birthday surprise and note in our room. We felt extremely lucky to have by chance landed at Casa Grande...we didn't want to leave. I'm looking forward to returning and staying longer next time. Loved the chilled vibe there!!
Maybe better towels but honestly that was part of the charm...they worked just fine.

The hotel was really charming and tranquil! The room was big and airy with stunning views. Parking also a huge plus!
Nothing to note really. Only idea would be adding small mini fridges into the rooms to keep water etc. but not a feature that took away from the overall experience.

Think of this as your eccentric great aunt who lives in a crumbling mansion. The place just oozes charm and character. If you're looking for something nice and shiny, do yourself and Casa Grande a favor and go stay at one of the new condos down the street with the IKEA furniture. This place has all kinds of blemishes but staying here is truly a heartwarming experience. The owner has been doing this for 50 years so she has hosted tens of thousands of guests here. The breakfast was one of the best we had on this trip, you'll meet travelers from all over the world as laughter echoes throughout the house. It really was a one of a kind, deeply satisfying experience.
The property condition - but...

Amazing breakfast and very comfortable beds. Overall comfortable and quiet and very easygoing.
Found a coin in one of the beds. Sheets were good but we were unsure if they had been changed.
