Check-in We arrived quite late about 10pm but were greeted at reception by Marina who took the time to chat to us about what we wanted out of our stay. Room - Opal Opal was fab: big bed, wonderful air con, the shower had good water pressure. We loved the little gecko 🦎 couple. Breakfast/food Served down by the pool. Lots of condiments (butter, honey, 3 types of cheese, apricot jam, marmalade) and Egyptian bread are provided. We were given a choice of muesli, toast, different types of omelette, fresh bananas from the field next door(maybe?), sweet melon (honey dew or gala?) Lovely coffee. The menu was changed every day. Nice different salads, cooked meats with rice. I had a really nice beef and orange dish which was really good. A choice of a few desserts. My husband is vegetarian/vegan and Marina made such an effort to make sure he had some choices. He said no to the Okra tho! 😂 Excursions The first day we took the free ferry over to the east bank. Before we went we asked about coming back and they gave us the hotel WhatsApp number. We walked 2mins to the main road and there was a bank where we could get money and it was easy to get a taxi down to the temples. When we were ready to go back we got the taxi to drop us off near the bank and messaged the hotel. The boat was there in 5mins. We knew that the hotel offers to book the excursions so we asked for a driver for the West Bank one day. Tarek was so good at explaining everything and such a laugh. Lovely air conditioned car too. We also booked the hot air balloon too. We were the first balloon to lift off but not the last to land. It was amazing! Totally recommend booking through the hotel! Notes This boutique hotel is for people who want a peaceful experience. I loved the view, the birds, the quiet. Towels are provided by the pool and dressing gowns in your room to walk down to the pool. It was fab chatting to Marina, learning more about Egypt and having a laugh.

Location - if you want a more authentic and peaceful Luxor experience, this is it. Proximity to the West bank key spots is also great. Staff - supportive, flexible and always available. Helped arrange good drivers and guides. Venue - beautiful palace, charismatic, stylish. Room - i got the Opal. Great room, beautiful terrace. Boat in and out - convenient, and ultimately a fascinating means of transport to head over to the East bank.

Breakfast - i'm quite flexible and enjoyed it, but for some people expecting buffets it may be a little underwhelming. Anyhow its the "price to pay" for staying in a stylish boutique-style hotel in an authentic part of town, rather than big hotels on the East bank. Toilet - may need a little work on the drainage/pipes. Floods after a shower - not a biggy, but thought of mentioning it so the owners can look into it. Ciao Marina, thank you for the arrangements. It is a very unique property so may not suit those used to more conventional hotels. The details in decoration everywhere were wonderful- so much to see and so many interesting pieces. The dome ceilings and hanging lights a marvel. So beautiful all lit up at night. The owners very helpfully arranged a fantastic felucca trip at sunset and car to easily take us to our flight in the evening. Majority of staff were great and particularly with my son. The pool was spotless - and wonderful to lie there watching the comings and goings on the Nile. Kudos to the pool guy who was so cheerful and never seemed to stop, keeping things in good shape in the whole area. It was an ideal place to end our trip to Egypt and relax and wind down before our return home.

The restaurant excelled at more local regional dishes- the Iraqi chicken curry being one - but more western “fusion”dishes were disappointing and over cooked (fish and chicken ).

The owner who is also the architect of the building did an amazing job at designing the place, it’s truly magnificent. All the staff is very friendly and helpful, especially the pool guy, he’s extremely friendly. What’s also great is that the hotel has it’s own boat to go to the east bank. Overall a really great hotel to stay at!

We really enjoyed our stay at Djorff Palace. These are some feedback points to make it even better: - The shower pressure was not great in one room and bad in the other room. - The wifi connection is not great. - The menu of the restaurant doesn’t have the best variety. It’s very tasty but there’s not really something simple for a lunch for example. - The boat driver is quite slow sometimes when it comes to actually driving the boat. He should give it some more gas to speed up the trip.

This place is unique! The traditional architecture, the rooms, furnishings - and the proprietor - are truly extraordinary. The staff were fabulously friendly. Really good breakfast. It was my niece's birthday and they made her a cake!!! Although it is on the west side they run a ferry across the river on request, which meant we could sight see and catch up with friends on the east side without a problem. It was really nice just to sit by the pool and relax. It's helpful to have a whatsapp. And there is no alcohol available.

One of my meals wasn't exciting, and it would be nice to get a glass of wine but that's not Djorff's problem.

This place is absolutely BEAUTIFUL every detail feels crafted with love. The Atmosphere gives you a deep sense of peace while looking at the Nile river, the rooms are decorated with authentic Egyptian charm that makes the experience feel truly special. The entire staff was super professional, and made us feel safe and at peace (something not always easy to find while traveling in Egypt.) We booked several tours through the hotel, and they were fantastic. Don’t book with anyone else this is by far the best option, both in price and service. I absolutely loved my stay and would come back in a heartbeat!

--- The building itself: gorgeous and mysterious, it transfers you into another time and space once you step into the property. --- Menu: changed every day. I enjoyed every meal very much when I stayed there. --- Room: I can literally see the dome and delicate little windows in my room (the domes are real ones). And the Islamic wood window and the balcony are very beautiful. --- Service: the staff is trying their best to make you have a comfortable stay. The response is very quick and warm. --- Gecho alert: I did not spot any major insect issue but I do see one or two gechos on the wall of my room. They are harmless, though.

What an amazing place, as you drive in through the back streets of the West Bank of Luxor you wonder where you are going, and then you arrive and get taken in the reception area and you see the view to Nile and Luxor and we were blown away. The owner greets you and tells you the story of the building of the hotel, and then offers the sort advice you need for your stay in Luxor. We took the boat across the river which makes life so easy for getting around, a quick WhatsApp when you’re done and they come and collect you. The room was large, clean and cool, even without the air con. The food was really good and we were surprised when the menu changed every day. Trips were easy to arrange, and in fact nothing was too much trouble.

The hotel had the most amazing design and interior detail. It really was very special. The rooms were great. Excellent bathroom. We had the Opal Room which had a lovely big patio that looked out over the grounds towards the Nile. Great bar with food near the pool. Great food - mostly Arabic and Moroccan style.

Nothing really not to like just a couple of things to know beforehand. It is in the West Bank of Luxor but there is a private ferry available to get you into town. So no real problem there. We had our tours pick us up from the hotel so all good. Pick up your alcohol in Luxor beforehand as there is nowhere close by to buy it and hotel does not serve alcohol at the bars. However if we wanted to bring our own wine to the restaurant, they had no issue serving it there.

Had a wonderful holiday because we stayed in this unique hotel. The staff couldn’t have done more for us. We felt like royalty. The food was exceptional (I’m a chef and very picky) especially breakfast and dinner, with a daily change to the menu, with only 4 or 5 choices but that indicates the freshness of the food. Always a fish and vegetarian option, and gorgeous deserts. The owner Marina pointed us in all the right directions for tours and put forward solid suggestions and ideas to keep us on track , having fun and understanding the doos and don’ts to get the most out of the 4 days we stayed . Loved being on the West Bank, with the hotel right on the Nile, beautiful gardens leading down to the river, and a lovely heated pool. We stayed in “Opal” private and spacious. Lovely shower, comfortable big bed, and a private terrace to sit outside with lovely views . Also a private boat to take you across to the east side for $2 !!
