Staff were welcoming and friendly on arrival. Room was fine
The (lack of) an evening meal. One reason I booked this hotel was that they offered dinner up to 2100. Indeed, I booked a table for 2045 which was re-confirmed by the staff when I arrived. I was standing at the bar at 2045 ordering my dinner when a man came out of the kitchen and told the barmaid that the kitchen was closed! No explanation, no food. I find this to be a disgusting way to treat a customer who had pre-booked a table for a set time. Perhaps if this is someone's idea of customer service may I suggest they are in the wrong job!!

Traditional old style pub with very friendly staff. The staff really care and want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Location is great and the stay was great value for money. The car park is also free which is good.
The room looked like it hadn’t been hoovered properly when we arrived. The water temperature in the sink was boiling. I would suggest either fitting a mixer tap or turning the temperature down a little. My partner found it too hot to use. The pub has character due to its age, which is beautiful, but the floor boards squeak really loud every time you walk on them, which you can also hear from the adjoining rooms. Not sure what can be done about that, but late at night and early morning, it was a little annoying. Overall, these are minor things and we would definitely stay here again if in Swindon.

Super comfortable bed, excellent power and temperature from the shower, room clean, breakfast of a good quality. Booked a single room so understandably small but more than sufficient for a single traveller. Old town is by far the best part of Swindon, and the Pub/Hotel is right in the heart of it, Wood street, the main street is literally across the road with plenty of shops and restaurants. the Outlet mall is no more than a 10 minute drive away at most.
Not much at all, parking can be a bit limited on site at busy times so make sure you don't arrive in the peak of pub hours, but you just park behind the pub and register your car with reception to avoid any parking costs, other public parking is available in the area though if you pay at the meters.

Staff were really accommodating, letting us check in earlier than stated and giving recommendations for local eateries. The pub is spacious and drinks were well-priced. Location is ideal for the County Ground and town centre. Parking was limited but free if staying overnight. Room was really warm and bed was comfortable and clean.
It was noisy until the pub shut, not directly from the floor below but from the revellers on the street outside. Our rooms had a very low ceiling, but not all rooms are like this so would be worth requesting a higher ceiling when booking if you are 6 foot plus. Shower took some working out but plenty of hot water.

Quiet room at top of hotel was great. Weather was warm but got some sleep with window open. Cool shower was ok after a day at BSB. Central location in the old town was great for drinks and restaurants. Hotel also does evening meal which was also ok.. Hair dryer wasn't working but was fixed while we went out for an evening meal.
As we were there for 3 nights maybe a change of towels would have been appreciated. The beds were never made over the 3 nights we stayed. Breakfast was ok apart from poached eggs on brown bread with no butter. Day 1 they came with butter on white bread. Server said he'd forgot our request. I made own toast and had cold eggs. Day 2 butter on brown bread and eggs were boiled not poached. Again made own toast. Day 3 made own toast and poached eggs were brought separately. Eggs were fine. Result! The reason I can't have white bread or butter is due to severe acid reflux problems.

It had an old fashioned charm, which made it quirky. The room was of reasonable size and comfortable enough, wifi was fine. In a nice area of Swindon (a big plus compared to most other hotel options for the town) up in the old town. Beatiful from the outside, and a pretty enough building on the inside too. Near other shops and bars.
The breakfast was not the best. Fairly basic options, and the quality of the sausage and bacon were both obviously cheap. Selection of beer - no real cider options (a surprise for the west country), and all beers were only macrobrewery fayre. Staff were not exactly bad, but not very enthusiastic.

Warm welcome, exceptionally well equipped room, including Nespresso coffee machine, large fluffy towels, high quality toiletries. Nice little welcome pack for the dog. Really clean. Loads of plug sockets including USB, and good, modern lighting. Would definitely stay here again, but maybe go elsewhere for breakfast!
Apart from the gentleman who welcomed us on arrival, (he was excellent), the staff gave the impression visitors were rather a tiresome interruption to their conversations. Breakfast was okay but coffee was cold. £15 supplement for the dog adds quite a lot to tariff.

Location is great! Bed was very comfortable. Easy access through the pub or outside to avoid going in. Although I have pointed out a couple of negatives below, it is a good value for money stay over.
It is noisy when the pub is still open at night You can hear people talking, the hand dryer in the toilets downstairs, the music the pub is playing. Not very sound proof so bare in mind. Breakfast was okay - arrived at 0930 ( it runs till 1000) there was no coffee left, juice was low and no refills even though there was still 30 mins left.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. The inclusive breakfast was good but not special and for some unknown reason the evening meal menu had a lot of items that were not available, we were there on Monday and Tuesday so they could have had a busy week-end and run out of stock.
Avoid booking room 10 as the vents for the cellar cooling are right outside the bedroom window. However, when I complained they moved us to room 1 for our second night which was great

As ever, a very pleasant stay. Great idea for a sheet instead of a duvet as an option. Sheet was great on a warm night. Shower good. Plenty space for bike gear. Nice tea tray selection. Great loacation with short walk to restaurants and craft pubs. Also to town gardens. Super if you like rose gardens. A great stroll after dinner.
Only issue was breakfast. Poached eggs came covered in black pepper. However, waitress was great and quickly replaced with clean eggs. Lovely.
