What a superb place. Location right on the river bank with the terrace overlooking the river itself allowing us to sit and enjoy the view whilst having a drink or meal is was simply idyllic. Menu in the restaurant was varied, freshly cooked and well presented and the breakfast of equally good quality ingredients. Service was also excellent. The room exceeded our expectations being spacious, with a very comfortable bed and a good view over the river. Due to the age of the building, some of the floors sloped slightly but this simply added to the fantastic character and charm of the place. Staff were all very friendly, extremely professional and seemed very knowledgeable about the hotel and its history, local attractions and even the local ales (which the bar also served) A most pleasurable stay and we will definitely return

Our room was super cute & quaint. The decor & furnishing were very cosy. The vaulted ceiling with the beams were lovely. The staff were super friendly & helpful.

That we couldn't shower standing up. It would have been nicer to have a shower instead of a bath. There was one afternoon (@2:45) we were hungry & would have liked a sandwich. The food was closed at 2:30 & there was no room service. We had to go to Tesco to get some food to eat in our room. I can understand limiting food availability to the public but staying guests maybe should have had food options when needed.

This was the second time I have stayed here, and it was just as nice as the first time. The staff are lovely, welcoming and easygoing. We had bikes and were welcomed to store them safely inside, first in a cupboard off reception, and then chained up in an unused ground floor reception room. The room was very comfortable, with a large bathroom. Breakfast was excellent, and dinner was perfectly fine and well priced. All in all, a really comfortable and welcoming hotel that is really worth the detour. Finally, a lovely riverside terrace for an afternoon drink as you watch the sun set over the broads - weather permitting :)

Lovely location next to the river and very short walk into town, very nice hotel clean and tidy, room was spacious and bed very comfortable, breakfast was lovely.

Had a pleasant one night stay at the Waveney house hotel, the only negative issue for us was caused by the squeaking floor directly above us throughout the night by the occupant in the room directly above moving around frequently in the night, I guess they weren’t able to sleep for some reason ? I understand that due to the age and character of the building this is likely, as just normal movement across the floor caused excessive creaking also in our room but unfortunately in the middle of the night directly above us it kept breaking our sleep, and resulted in us both feeling we had a disrupted night.

Good location, well looked after with good parking for cars and our Motorcycles, Staff were nice and helpful and the place was very clean with a nice outside terrace on the river.

I wasn’t allowed to stand up in the shower in my room due to the shape of the roof, removed shower curtain and short shower hose and sign sayin not for use standing up. I’m sure there must be some good reason but for 1 night I could put up with it . The full English breakfas was a little small for me and the bacon a tad undercooked but that’s really my personal taste. Overall it was a very nice hotel I’d stay there again.

Large spacious room, comfortable bed. Shower and a bath. Lots of room to store clothing. Fantastic view of the river from the room and we were lucky enough to see an otter swimming and then eating on a mooring and a barn owl covering an area several times. There was live music playing, quite enjoyable. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Good choice of food at breakfast and evening meal. Peaceful location in the morning. Plenty of parking. Great area.

There was a step into the main part of the room and my husband kept tripping down it. A bit noisy until music had finished. Stairs to the rooms.

Food was excellent, room was very spacious and bed was extremely comfortable. Location is great, right on the river Waveney.

Facilities were lacking a bit, no bottled water in room, no coffee machine which is pretty much normal in rooms of this quality and no fridge. Tea tray was sparse, 4 coffee sachets, 4 tea bags, 4 milk pots. No fruit/herbal teas. For the size of this room (room 5) I was disappointed that the bed was not a super king. With the age of the building, there was a lot of noise from creaking floorboards from the room above. Some of the decor was tired and lacking in TLC.

It’s a lovely property, steeped in history. Beautifully located on the banks of the river. The room was well equipped, comfortable and nicely decorated. Food in the restaurant was very good and staff friendly and accommodating

There is no cosy bar area to have a drink in. There are some tables just off the restaurant but not where you would relax and have a drink. We took drinks into the reception area. There was a lovely log burner but that was left to go out in the evening and there just wasn’t anywhere else to go which was a shame.

Very attractive setting, hotel has lovely ambience; excellent quality of meals although lunch/dinner menu could be wider, with more daily specials, breakfast menu extremely good; friendly and helpful staff; comfortable room

Shower unit over bath in impractical position & not really usable; unfortunate that access to hotel from town centre closed at present, would have been helpful if we had been advised before travelling, receptionist helpful in giving alternative route eventually but we originally wasted a lot of time trying to find entrance at other end of lane on outskirts of town

A very peaceful location, although we were woken up at 6.15am on our first morning,buy a member of staff dumping something in rhe bin,thankfully this didn't happen after our second night. The room, the twin on the top floor ( No8) is a nice room ,very high beamed ceiling and fairly bright. Unfortunately the mattresses were too soft for our liking,the hotel throughout is very clean and well maintained. The cooked breakfast was lovely and hot and fresh, and good quality food. Waitresses in the dining room were friendly, I would however suggest the reception staff had a bit of training in being friendly and welcoming, most were lovely, but a blonde in particular, was hard work. The hotel is well located to the town, only a short walk away from a few pubs and restaurants ( I would however call and book early if you want a meal out) as the town seems to be loosing some of them, or they're too busy for any bookings. One thing to note,there is no WiFi in the room, only in the reception area and restaurant. Overall it was a pleasant stay, would have been nice if we had enjoyed our trip on way out.
