This well-located, secure hotel has very clean and attractive rooms, featuring comfortable beds, a quiet and efficient air conditioner, a work desk and plenty of storage space. Our first room had a private bathroom a short way down the hall and overlooked a very busy street (although the soundproofing was excellent when we closed the window). For our second night we decided to splurge and moved to a room with bath, which overlooked a much quieter street so we were able to keep our window open all night, which we prefer. All the staff we encountered were welcoming and very helpful, especially the young man who processed our move for the second night. Breakfast was wonderful, with great variety of fruit, pastries, breads, cereals, cold sliced meats and cheeses and delicious coffees from a very efficient machine. The woman who runs the breakfast was delightful and kept everything well stocked and sparkling clean. They have a video running in the breakfast room highlighting the many sights in beautiful Trieste - now one of our favourite cities! We plan on returning and will definitely stay at the Nuovo Albergo Centro again.

Everything was great!

Very nice receptionist even gave me a couple of bandages for my hurt finger. Room was super clean and the bed was very comfy! Hotel excellent location 15 minute walk which is on level ground from the cruise ship to my hotel.If the room was a little bigger I would have been 10 out of 10. For one night was fine. the breakfast buffet is probably the finest I've ever had. The croissants and the pastries were divine. The expresso and cappuccino machine made the best cappuccinos and espresso I ever had out of one machine!

The location of the hotel couldn't be better, less than one minutes walk to the Grand Canal, we were able to walk around most of Trieste in our two day stay. The staff were very helpful on arrival at midday and we got to use our room after 30 minutes wait ( with fresh coffee, tea and pastries ) even though regular check in is 2 hours later. You could get hot drinks and pastries through the day. Laura on the desk gave advice on restaurants to visit. Breakfast was a treat, lovely choice and plenty of everything . Due to the small breakfast room we could book the time we wanted to eat. The electric sockets were in a useful place by bed, no leaning down the back of furniture! The 'noise cancelling' windows were great, they really made a difference to the street noise level.

Maybe the shower cubicle could be upgraded but we have seen similar in many higher rated hotels, not a big issue at all. The shower itself was powerful and got warm very quickly. The bed was quite firm for me but partner really liked it. Tricky to park outside (for our taxi) on one way street but that happens in a central city location. Traffic level varied , not constantly busy.

The rooms were much more comfortable than we expected from a 2 star hotel. We had two connecting rooms which is perfect for a family with teenage kids and not easy to find. I appreciated the fact that there were lots of pillows and even little biscuits on the bed. The breakfast was excellent, better than I’ve had in some 5 star hotels. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was very quiet considering we were right in the centre of Trieste.

Parking is a nightmare, but this is a city issue and nothing to do with the hotel. Trieste is squashed between hills and the sea, so there just isn’t the space. The hotel did give us plenty of information about parking though.

The hotel is in a building from the 19th century. The hotel uses the complicated historic space very cleverly. It's spotlessly clean and Laura in the reception went far beyond helpful. Her English is also great, thanks to regular training in GB. We stayed in 101 and 102, the latter with a sink and using our toilet and shower through the connecting door. Well appointed in the compact size that the hotel is and better than average in this kind of accommodation. The breakfast room is tiny. It was managed by a tiny lady whose liveliness and gusto more than did away with the threat of claustrophobia. Plenty of variety, always being replenished. The location is about as close to the centre as you can get without lying down on the piazza. We would choose to come here again without a doubt.

Trieste is victim of a serious lack of town planning by the people in charge, with regards to parking. I became familiar with parts of the city I didn't want to visit, getting tangled in the one-way system and never able to find a legal place to stop and drop off the bags. The only solution is to do the same as the local population: block the road somewhere. I finally parked for the night close to the railway station and paid €14 for 19hrs; okay price for middle of city.

A lovely, traditional hotel close to the Canal Grande in Trieste, ideal for wandering into town in the daytime or evening. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, recommending restaurants and saying they could book by phone for us if we saw a restaurant we were keen to try (fortunately our Italian friend was able to do this for us). The breakfasts were an excellent buffet, with a good range - remember to book your time slot as it can get very busy in there! The provision in the communal area of a proper espresso machine and the pastries left from breakfast more than made up for no tea/ coffee in the room.

We were fortunate that our bathroom was right opposite our room, but some people had a longer walk which may cause a problem for elderly visitors late at night.

The staff was very very nice! They even offered us to choose the rooms which was very nice of them and also as we arrived early they kept our bags before the room was done. In the city center, no parking of them but the staff gave us options and there are multiple near by. It’s very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was modest and okay, had more than enough things to offer.

It’s not that we didn’t like but we’re not used to the separated bathroom (outside the room itself)

Room was as advertised. The hotel is fairly basic, the dining room is 'snug' - you have to book your slot for breakfast (but who cares – there was plenty of it, and it was excellent quality). It's packed with character, the people both working there and staying there were super-friendly. The location is amazing. So, embrace the 'no frills' and enjoy the hotel for what it is: accommodating, friendly and a stones throw from the good stuff.

We loved everything about our stay here. The staff was amazing! The front desk (Laura) was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. She made sure we could focus on relaxing and enjoying our trip. The rooms and property were so clean and fresh. They were a perfect size and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was huge and just what we needed. Excellent air conditioning. Breakfast was included, and the staff in charge took great pride in making it wonderful. Great espresso too. Everything is close and in walking distance. Great restaurants close by. Close to cruise port as well. Staying here was a great choice. I can't say enough good things about it. I would stay here over and over. Thank you everyone for making our stay so easy and pleasant.

We were pleasantly surprised by both the cleanliness and the spaciousness of our room. Based on some previous traveler’s photos I wasn’t sure our luggage would fit, but we had no problems at all. The elevator was quick and sturdy. The check-in process was easy and thoroughly explained. The staff reached out on WhatsApp to make sure we had everything we needed before arrival. Best of all, the breakfast in the morning was a DELIGHT. A wonderful little spread that neither of us was expecting. All in all, an excellent night.

We were mildly concerned about taking a room with a separate bathroom down the hall, but it was squeaky clean and we had no problems walking a few extra feet. Don’t fear the separate bathroom!
