This is an Oasis of quality and polite manners in a stunning location and being a Members Club it is obviously well controlled. The strict Dress Code looks like a challenge but basically I fully agree with it, especially the ban on ripped/torn jeans. All this done with the the help of Bright and Cheerful staff who are very attentive. This extends to all the unseen staff such as an adventurous Chef, Gate and Grounds Security and the contractors who keep the large Parkland grounds in immaculate condition The Orangery is lovely for meals and the lounge very comfortable/restful There is an easy 10 minute walk to the town centre using a hidden back gate.

The King Double room was pokey for two people for a full week stay with very limited space for clothing storage and the small hanging wardrobe rail was at an unreachable height. There wasn't space for even one chair so the only way to enjoy the superb view was by perching on the bed or sitting on the very uncomfortable chairs on the spacious balcony when weather permitted. Over bath rain showers are impossible for people with limited mobility. We struggled to even get in and out of the deep bath for a soak

Was clearly stated I had a room with a river view when booking,on arrival we were in a room that looked out onto the bin sheds,absolutely no river view at all,very disappointed at that.

This is a beautiful members club. The staff are really helpful. The room was upgraded for mother and daughters birthdays. The view from our balcony was fabulous overlooking the Thames. The location is very central. The room, bed linen and towels were so white and of a good standard. The bathroom is absolutely lovely. Breakfast is excellent and plentiful. We had a very special stay and would highly recommend

The room was a king size and initially we thought on the small side but found it big enough. Unfortunately the balcony needed a sweep. We found an old corsage, paper serviette and lots of cobwebs. I did report this at check out and the receptionist was very apologetic and said it would be reported. This was, I'm sure, an oversite as every other part of the complex was exceptional.

Stuart the floor manager was Outstanding!!! The staff was helpful and professional.

Wonderful location in immaculate kept grounds overlooking the River Thames where the famous boat regatta takes place.The staff were friendly and welcoming.

Location was the best as was the friendly service.

My only complaint was that the rooms were overheated. So much so that it interrupted our sleep.

Beautiful hotel with lovely gardens overlooking the river. Breakfast was really good and the staff were very polite and accommodating.

We were there during very warm weather, even so the room we were in was exceptionally hot. This was not the case in other areas of the hotel, but temperature rose palpably as we walked towards our room. Even the fans provided did not help. The bathroom thermometer did not dip below 34’C the whole time we were there. Unfortunately , the heat in the room made my elderly, disabled mother quite ill.

Located on the banks of the Thames at Henley, with the beautiful town being only a five minute walk through the grounds. This is a private members Hotel, the members contribute to its upkeep and running, so, certain standards of dress are expected, no,scruffy jeans, open sandals TShirts a dinner, nothing unreasonable . Our, room, was perfectly comfortable, a standard twin , the cheapest room - but the views exceptional , with a veranda over the Thames. Room facilities were as stated. A larger room is available obviously. Reception staff could not have been more helpful or polite Residents were very friendly and welcoming and proud off their space. Breakfast was very well indeed, cooked to perfection and plentiful. Henley it’s self has an abundance of restaurants, a food lovers paradise,, we dined at The Square a most excellent and very very reasonable Portuguese . When comparing other hotels in Henley for location , views, facilities and grandeur there really isn’t any comparison price wise we were amazed at this place and really considered ourselves fortunate to have stayed ! We highly rated The Phylis and would definitely return .

That’s it’s too far away from my home to fully take advantage of being a member . It’s amazing .

We were given rooms 3 and 10 for our family group of four. Room 3 was quite frankly magnificent. The room came with an enormous memory foam bed, sofa, two armchairs, coffee table and large TV. Working sash windows enabled us to make the most of the incredible river views and grounds. While there was no apparent air-conditioning, a very powerful fan was included within the room and that together with the breeze from the river kept the room cool (on a late summers day at around 24C). Other facilities included a walk-in wardrobe with safe, a mini-fridge and very nice drinks-making items. The bathroom was large and had all we needed, with a shower over bath and a range of toiletries. Room 10 was a smaller twin room but very comfortable and with the added benefit of a balcony with small table and chairs. The club itself was elegant but sadly we didn't have time to make the most of the leisure facilities. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. They informed us of a footpath from the hotel that took us to the centre of Henley in a couple of minutes, much quicker than we had anticipated from the map. We are hoping to return at some point to enjoy a longer stay and to try out the swimming pool.

The food at breakfast was of good quality and ordered from a menu, though we weren't told (as I later understood from other reviews) that we could have ordered more than one item. The experience was slightly marred by a fire alarm that repeatedly kept going off.
