The hotel was in an old but refurbished castle. The rooms were quite large, and the breakfast area also quite spacious. There is a parking spot where we left the car, and some stairs that take you directly into the inner city. It is a good place to spend one night while traveling through the Romantic Road.

I guess there is not a lot of service people at night, as we were left our keys in the counter of the reception. While the castle is refurbished, it still looks a bit old, and the beds are old and not super comfortable. In one of the bedrooms the bed dropped one of the supports. Finally, on the stairs to go into town there are some mannequins on the side of the road that might look a bit creepy.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The castle is romantic and overall a beautiful setting. The room was clean and comfortable, and equipped with all that is needed. The large and free parking was also rather appreciated. We managed to join the Rothenburg Spa and Pool, with entry included with our room booking (not sure whether it is included as standard or not), close by which added to the fun of our experience and would recommend. Overall, worth the price one spends and more.

There were no major issues. Two minor things I didn't enjoy as much were how the breakfast trays were prepared/ served (cheese and meats are served in a tray in beautiful compositions with fruit and flowers, but this causes the product to stick to one another and it becomes challenging to pick up and put in one's plate), and how the entry door on the 7th floor was not granting access with the key (our room was on the lower building) after a certain time so that we had to walk outside.

The location is brilliant. Just a few steps away from the charming town center of Rothenburg. And look at that building! Like a fairytale (with basic and therefore affordable rooms). Bed was comfortable and our room was very clean. Breakfast was fantastic with enough choices to start your day. The guy working at breakfast was the most pleasant and friendly guy, a gem!

We were on the second floor in the Kurhaus and it was incredibly warm in the room. After opening the small window, it fortunately cooled down a little to a more bearable temperature to sleep in. The curtain, was present, however didn't do much to block out the light or bugs. If we'd have been on the other side of the building, we would have likely woken up at the crack of dawn, due to sunlight streaming into the room. Bear in mind not all rooms are reachable with an elevator, so if you have trouble climbing stairs, mention that and if there's a free room, you'll be assigned a room reachable with the elevator.

The building is magnificent and the location is perfect, just 170 steps or a curvy road away from the city wall. The staff was helpful and answered all of my questions. Breakfast was good, plenty variety for everyone, including local cheese and sausages, homemade honey and jams. The room is basic, but has lots of storage space and it is bigger than expected, thanks to the high ceiling. The bottle of water in the room and the free entry to the Rothenburg Bad was a really nice extra touch. I am pleased and already recommended the place to my friends.

The walls are thin and you hear everything that happens on the hallway. Good that I had earplugs with me. The bathroom sink was a bit clogged.

Hotel is placed in a historic, castle like building. It is out of the category. Location is in a walking distance to the old town. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. All together staying here was a nice experience. When it is available it would be a pity to miss it.

It is not the most comfortable hotel. Disabled people might have problems, as many parts are accessible only by stairs. But it is mainly due to the construction and preservation reasons, because any invasive modernization would probably have negative impact to overall appearance of it.

You would have to appreciate history the castle was a bath house from the 15th century. So many things to see in the place. Nice stained glass windows and nice hardwood floors. The rooms were updated, but kept the feel of the era. The grounds were nice but didn't have time for the trails. Rothenburg is the most beautiful town I have ever been in. It's surrounded by a wall all aound the town which you can walk and go up the tower. Such character to the town. A must see. Also look up the double bridge which is not far from the town.

Beautiful location, very welcoming staff and felt to be looked after, bbq idea for the dinner was great. Eclectic and historical hotel, not your a average city stay. Really enjoyed it.

If you visit in the peak summer be prepared to roast and not able to sleep properly, rooms have no air conditioning and also can't keep room windows open due to bats 🦇🦇🦇 might come and visit you whilst you sleep. Just a fun moment to add, we were using warning laminated cards about the bats to cool us down 😄

We had a wonderful time in Rothenburg (it's like a place from a fairytale) and can highly recommend staying at the Wildbad hotel, which feels a bit like staying in a castle. It's surrounded by woodlands, so the view from our windows was stunning, but at the same time you're not far from the city, just a few minutes walk (note, however, that you either have to take a serpentine road up the hill or around 150 steps that lead up to one of the city gates, so be prepared for a good climb :D) The house itself is a historic spa hotel from around 1900 with several salons and even an in-house theatre. So there's a lot to discover if you wander the corridors, be careful though not to get lost because there's not a lot of staff around and the place can seem quite deserted at times. Staff at the reception is friendly and always ready to help - but there's no one around in the evening (we felt really sorry for a family who arrived around 10pm and asked us for help because they couldn't check in... no one answered the emergency number, and as far as we know they had to find another hotel in the city to stay at :/ )

Breakfast was good with several options for guests with no dietary restrictions. They did provide glutenfree options upon request, but vegan options were limited. Next time, we'd perhaps book the room without breakfast and just find a nice café in town instead.

I was amazed by this property, very grand enormous gothic style building in a wonderful wooded setting with gardens going down to the river. Short walk to the most beautiful medieval town (190 steps but fine for us) The hotel was in really good order with original opulent features and decoration. Large room with high ceiling and balcony. Breakfast room was like a ballroom. We arrived an hour before booking in time but this was not a problem.

It was very hot when we were there and could have done with aircon in the room, tho I can understand it wouldn’t really have suited the building. My wife found the whole place a bit spooky but I just loved it.

The property is grand and unique: an old church (or monastery). The rooms feel almost like a dormitory, but are spacious and comfortable. Each room has a bathroom, as if someone put dropped a pre-fab bathroom in a dorm room. Rooms feel newly remodeled and very clean. With the church atmosphere comes a sense of calm. We took morning walks through the wooded area and sat along the river, just listening to the water and leaves. We explored the top floor which had a chapel and some explanations for the history of the hotel. The property is massive and would make for a great retreat or conference center. There is a kids' playroom. At the back of the property are a set of stairs (~3 flights) which lead up to the southern gate of Rothenburg. It's a 5-10 minute walk to the City Center, depending on how distracted you get along the way. Very convenient, although notably not within the city walls itself. Breakfast was simple, but good. For the price, we found this to be an extremely worthwhile stay.

The road to the parking lot is uphill and windy. We didn't have any problems but I couldn't imagine passing another car on it.
