The breakfasts and dinners were of an exceptionally high quality and were made even more enjoyable by the staff. They go out of their way to engage with the clients in a very friendly fashion while still being respectful and always helpful . This carries on to the rest of the staff as well and you almost feel part of their family while you are there. Our room was beautiful with old fashioned style furnishings in keeping with the building but with modern trappings to enhance comfort. The bathroom was huge with a free standing bath and a walk in shower and we had a sitting area and a furnished balcony. The garden outside is very special with delightful areas to walk in or have a seat.

There was nothing you could find any fault with.

The hotel staff are very welcoming and the hotel, itself, is tastefully decorated and the rooms well appointed. The gardens are extensive and lovely. The hotel is well situated a few miles away from St Andrews.

A fridge in the room would have been beneficial. In the short time between initially considering booking the hotel and actually making the booking, the price had increased by £120 for a two night stay in a standard room. This was excessive and made the stay less good value.

The food was first class. we had the taster menu which was delicious and each course was explained toits content and preparation. breakfast was delivered to the Shephard's Hut on time each morning. these huts are wonderfully laid out and ideal for a bit of solitude.

we stayed in "Mallard" a Woodland Shephard's Hut which was first class. the only draw back was the lack of a handrail to access the entry deck level, and steps were slippy when wet. Our companions were in "Kingfisher" and it did not have a hand rail either. I did consider this a SAFETY feature which definitely was missing.

The setting for the Rufflets is rural on the outskirts on the West side of St Andrews with views up the coast towards Dundee. Clearly, it has been modernised in the last few years and the inside is a very different feel from the more traditional country manor exterior. We booked one of the rooms in the gatehouse which was wonderful and felt more like a villa or house rental than a hotel. Highly recommend a walk in the gardens and the breakfast was very good.

I got the feeling that some of the staff were new and still settling in. Personally, I prefer a proper reception desk where you can see the staff rather than standing around in the reception area waiting for someone to appear from an office.

This is an elegant and lovely place filled with a relaxing atmosphere and beautiful grounds! The check in process includes staff personally taking you to your room to be sure all is to your liking! We were just staying overnight and got a standard room. It was small but very comfortable, modern and had all the amenities you could want. The dining room and bar were lovely and the small living room areas were very nice. It reminded me of a club with sleeping rooms! My only regret is we only had one day and night to enjoy it all!

The property was fantastic nothing not to like, but our bed was only a full size and no larger, so sleeping was trickier than usual! Just know that a standard room has a small bed!

Spacious accommodation in a quiet location. Restaurant staff very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent.

We were not advised that there was an additional £25 for our dog to stay, despite ample opportunity to highlight, as all other accommodation we stayed in did up front through booking.com AND during confirmation correspondence when checking our dog was welcome. Sadly whilst we followed this up with the hotel we have not received a response.

Nice size room, great amenities, quiet, comfortable and location to St Andrews proper was perfect. Beautiful gardens that must be wonderful to enjoy in the summer months. Breakfast was excellent. The do have a restaurant for evening meals but we did not try it.

There were some maintenance issues in our room and we informed the housekeeper. Nothing was done, nothing critical. We did inform the front desk upon check out.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Rufflets Hotel, and we were impressed with the cleanliness and overall maintenance of the rooms. The environment was impeccable, and the rooms were well-organised and comfortable, making for a very pleasant stay. We appreciated the friendliness and professionalism displayed by the staff. What a beautiful hotel! The gardens seen from our Turret room window were lovely. The room was very comfortable…especially the bed. We had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The weather was grand, and we enjoyed the balcony. The distance from St. Andrews was nice. It was quiet and peaceful without the traffic noise. I’d love to stay here again!

From the friendly reception you receive on arrival.a member of staff accompanied us to our room to ensure we were happy with everything. The room was a very good size exceptionally clean,the breakfast was had a great choice We were looked after in a manner that was exceptional and would recommend anyone visiting St Andrews to use this hotel you will not be disappointed.
