Room was clean and modern, surroundings were very peaceful.

Be mindful that the road becomes a gravel road for a short while on the way to here! We had a 4WD so it was fine, but good to know in advance.

Accommodation in a quiet, peaceful location with flexible self check-in and check-out, and free parking. The kitchen is huge and fantastically equipped, with plenty of tables and chairs, two stoves, lots of pots, glasses, and plates, an automatic coffee machine for both beans and capsules, a wide variety of teas, cocoa powder, hot chocolate mix, honey, etc.

The rooms are very small for those going on a longer trip. There’s nowhere to put suitcases or unpack them — just two small nightstands and a clothes rack with three hangers. There’s also a small fridge and a kettle in the room, but the sink in the bathroom is so tiny that the kettle doesn’t fit under the tap — you have to fill it using a glass.

Guesthouse in a nice quiet location that was good for our road trip around Iceland. Rooms were clean and equipped with a refrigerator and TV. Guest sharing kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of plates, utensils and some basic spices to cook. The kitchen has a lovely dining area with large glass windows overlooking a garden.

Bedroom 5 with the balcony was really tiny. In the shared bathroom, there was only the fixed rain shower, which is not ideal if you don't intend to wash your hair.

Harold is a wonderful host, so warm and friendly and clearly dedicated to proper hospitality and his guesthouse is so comfortable, clean and cosy. The beds were really comfortable and we slept very well. There is tea and coffee in the rooms and the shared bathroom is modern and clean with a very powerful shower. Harold let us use the main kitchen to cook on our first night and it had all utensils we needed. We booked a room with private bathroom for our second night and it turned out to have a small, well stocked kitchen and small table with chairs where we cooked and ate dinner, it felt more like a small apartment than guesthouse room. The breakfast was also delicious both days. Harold advised us on where to go outside the house for the best chance of seeing the northern lights and we did see them! We would gladly have stayed here for our entire trip if we hadn't planned to travel south. This was the best guesthouse I've stayed in anywhere in Europe and was fantastic value for money. Harold sorry we didn't get to see you when we were leaving to say goodbye, we'll be back if we're ever in the area again.

From my initial interactions with the host, I immediately felt at home. Haraldur was very friendly, kind and always available to help with any query I had. The shared kitchen has all you need to cook your own meals and the views from the property are just stunning. If you're looking for a relaxing stay, this is the perfect spot. The local greenhouses also sell fresh vegetables, which is a bonus due to the scarcity of shops in the area. Arrivederci e grazie mille Haraldur!

Clean, comfortable, coffee and tea in room. Host was very kind to allow us to check in early. Visiting nearby Skálholt church and crypt and archaeological sight in the morning was very interesting. This was the most important settlement in Iceland for 700 years.

One small detail: Would have preferred coffee/tea cups with handle. A microwave in kitchen might have been there, but we didn’t see it.

Had an amazing stay, beyond exceeded expectations! Was in an ideal location to be able to access all the sights and activities we planned, with each being a short drive away. Breakfast was great with a wide variety of choices, and the use of the kitchen in our own time was extremely convenient. The owner was so friendly and helped us out with recommendations to make the most of our trip and even helped us to see the northern lights. Overall amazing value for money and would highly recommend!

The guesthouse is lovely, and so is the host. You can tell that thought has been given to small details, which guests can enjoy. The breakfast was quite good and overall a pleasant experience for us.

The shared bathroom was small and had no ventilation, other guests also had the same schedule as us, so we had to wait to shower. The room is quite small, so hard to manage your belongings. The room door closes very stiffly (but this is common in other places in Iceland as well).

I was a bit concerned about the nature of the shared facilities, as this isn't normally my preferred style of accommodations. However, everything was lovely and as pleasant as could be given the "shared" factor. The guesthouse was very clean. The rooms appeared to be recently updated, and I would not be surprised if soundproof materials were incorporated because I didn't notice any noise from the other guests at all. The shared bathroom stayed clean, which is both a testament to the property owner and respectful guests (it is requested in the welcome message that you respect other guests by refraining from loud noises and music, and I really appreciate this). And yes, you are asked to remove your shoes when you enter the guesthouse. This is common in Iceland, and it helps to keep the facilities clean. Our room was smaller than what we are used to, but this seems to be the case throughout most of the country, as that's just kind of "the way it is" there, and therefore it shouldn't be a negative about the guesthouse. The shared kitchen area more than made up for that fact, as it was modern and well-stocked with all sorts of appliances. The self-serve coffee bar was a lovely amenity. Buffet (ish) style breakfast was equally as lovely, prepared by Haraldur himself. I appreciated the early breakfast start time. Some of the other breakfast offerings during our trip didn't start until 8am; a breakfast time earlier than that turned out to be very important to us, so thank you, Haraldur, for that! Location of the guesthouse was convenient during our Golden Circle tour and was a nice way to extend the tour into two days without having to spend a lot of time travelling back and forth to the city. That being said, the area is a bit remote. There are not a lot of options in terms of groceries, gas, and restaurants, so keep that in mind during your planning.

It's not that I didn't like it, but just an observation: the back yard area could use some TLC, but it didn't affect our stay because it was too cold to use it. Just keep in mind it doesn't currently look like the pictures.

Lost at the end of a road in an ultra quiet neighborhood, under the snow. This guest house offered us an extremely clean room and bathroom, the shared kitchen was very well equipped, and calm was a must at all times. Special mention for the kindness of the host and its help with information for the rest of our stay in Iceland, thank you so much ! Justine & Paul
