The welcome on arrival was excellent and friendly and very informative. For a junior suite the room was somewhat smaller than expected but comfortable none the less with a view along adjoining properties gardens. There was no option for eating in the evening so we went out into town, which is a bustling pleasant place to stay. Breakfast was ok, the person waiting looked a bit fed up as a result the service wasn't up to what I had expected, such as it would be nice to have a spoon with porridge or a knife with toast. But staying in St Andrews is a great experience especially for a golfer to be able to walk along the courses, added to this free long stay parking.

In general the hotel was up to expectations though the room was smaller than anticipated, and the lower than expected level of service at breakfast.

Extremely warm and helpful welcome. The reception was beyond expectations: friendly, helpful, kind and even funny. Location is ideal. The Room was perfect for my stay. Comfortable, clean and local, quality amenities in the bathroom. It’s a busy street but our room was on the back in the building and very quiet and calm. The room is well insulated so you don’t hear the neighboring rooms (like other places I’ve tried in town). Great water pressure. I was traveling with my son for one night.

The bathroom and shower looked a little tired, as was the hairdryer, but still clean. (The rest of the hotel and room was well maintained)

Good location - clean room and bathroom with lots of storage and a room safe. Comfortable good sized bed and view to Old Course. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast with best poached eggs.

Room was very hot with radiator off and window partially open. Room was at top of building so possibly getting secondhand heat from below! Unfortunately the shower cabinet leaked and we had to mop up but notified Staff and expect it will be fixed shortly.

Room was clean and breakfast was brilliant. Location only a 3/4min walk from centre of town and we managed to get free overnight parking 100 yards up from hotel on left hand side (guess this will be luck of the draw at time of arrival). We dealt mostly with Chris who was very welcoming and polite throughout our stay. Shower facilities in room were great and overall cleanliness of property was good.

On arrival room was freezing. Turned heating up and it resolved within an hour or so. It is January and it’s cold outside so no real complaints on that side, just would have been nice for it to be warm for arrival as we were getting ready to head out for dinner.

Location was perfect and rooms were large and nicely decorated ,large comfortable bed ,staff member at front of house (think name was Chris)very friendly and helpful

Staff member at breakfast ,rude and dismissive, asked for more coffee for a table of six (as given one )told sharply no as not enough pots ,tried to order a bacon roll for my daughter who was on her way down ,wouldnt take order as she wasnt at the table!also didn't appreciate being woken at 8.30 with bang on door to see if we had checked out ,especially as we were in St andrews for a special family event and didn't return to hotel until 2.30 am

Lovely spacious room which was perfect for us and our 10-yr-old grandson. The second bed was not just a “pull-out” bed but a real bed which was very comfortable. In fact our grandson raved about it because the previous night in another hotel he had to sleep in an uncomfortable pull-out bed. Bathroom also large and spacious which was a very pleasant surprise. If traveling with a child ask for the big family room !!! Good breakfast and perfect location to walk anywhere in town. Once we parked we didn’t need to drive again.

Very hot at the time we visited and as is the case with most British hotels there is no air conditioning or window screens. When we opened the windows the bugs and flies came in. A fan in the room would have helped.

The Ardgowan was within easy walking distance of the bus station. The staff member who checked me in was very helpful, coming to check on my radiator (which did work) and recommending a good restaurant.

The breakfast left a lot to be desired. I got the continental buffet. The yogurt was fine, the fruit were either canned or previously frozen (understandable that there isn't fresh fruit in fall) but the pastries were cold and stale. The staff had no problem putting the croissant into the microwave at my request, but it was still cold /hard/stale on the inside.

Loved my relaxing stay and was upgraded from a single to a cosy double room. It was very quiet at the back of the hotel, with a view over the gardens to the sea. Everything was close by, with the High Street only being a five minute walk from the hotel.

Had to book breakfast slot in advance but I don't wake up very easily due to medication, so didn't eat at the hotel, despite it being included in the price.

The Staff were fantastic, reception, cleaners, breakfast, all were very warm, relatable and very professional.Thank you.Room with a view, enjoyed the floor and serenity.

The heating during the first night was off, temperature very low and it was raining, but got better on other days. Due to restaurant closure, had to go out to eat.

Checking in was fantastic, the receptionist was really helpful. Made us feel very welcome and let us know everything we needed to know. The location is also excellent.

It was quite cold in our room when we first arrived, although we did change rooms so they may not have been ready for us. Changing the temperature in the room is difficult.
