Location was good very comfortable and clean.

Any where that charges £8 for a child to have rice crispy and a apple juice for breakfast is on a different planet. When he ate his dad's rice crispy and juice. To add on a 10% gratitude for breakfast is nonsense

We've been here plenty before to eat, but first time we've stayed due to lack of taxis to get to and fro for a work Xmas do. Staff very friendly and efficient, lovely feel and character to the place. Beautiful grounds too. Breakfast very nicely done - good full English and excellent Eggs Benedict. We've seen this place evolve a lot over the years, have sat outside in summer, been indoors in winter and it always has a lovely relaxed vibe to it.

Got to mark it down for comfort unfortunately. My husband is 6ft 3 and he ended up in a room where there were only 2 spots he could stand up straight due to the low ceilings. Add in the beams on top, and he ended up shuffling around hunched over pretty much all the time we were in the room (which thankfully was not too long). Very difficult to relax under those conditions. I know it goes hand-in-hand with the character on offer, and maybe it's the same in all the rooms, but if there are rooms with higher ceilings then I think that before allocating Room 5 to anyone a check should maybe be made on if anyone staying there will be over 6ft - and if they are, then give them a different room!

From the get go, we were already impressed by the tree lined driveway and the surrounding grounds. They were expansive and well kept. We even spotted bunnies! There was a great little children's playground which our daughter enjoyed and lots of room to run around. The ground floor room we were allocated, was tasteful and large but by our favourite features were the jacuzzi bathtub and the private patio just outside our room with a view to the walled kitchen garden. I was also impressed by the Elemis products that were awaiting us. It felt like we had paid more than we did :-) The room was generous in size, with lots of sockets and plugs, great lighting, lovely comfy sofa (for sitting and sleeping in) and a stylish bathroom.

The regular receptionist was off sick the day we arrived so there was no one at the desk, but the restaurant staff (which is next to the reception) got us seen to pretty quickly, so no big deal really. The other thing was that the beams in the room were a bit dusty and housed a daddy long legs. I'm not a fussy person, so it didn't bother me or my family, but it might do others. Lastly, and just a suggestion, but the patio area felt like such a bonus to have, yet felt really underused. The furniture was sparce and didn't have cushions for example, but regardless we enjoyed an afternoon coffee there. I feel that it would have been nice to have a nice complete outdoor furniture set to relax in, especially on nice sunny days.

It's a stunning building combining old with new. Beautiful gardens with multiple attractions. A lovely terraced area with sufficient seating. Staff friendly helpful and efficient. The food is excellent a good cross section on the menus.

We have stayed several times. My first time in the coach house. Disappointed on no air con as advertised in the rooms. Wasn't stated none in coach house room. Also unpleasant staining on the toilet seat making it feel unclean. We never addressed this with reception as we were there only 1 night.

The hotel was beautifully situated and stunning inside, my room was very nice , spa bath a huge bonus

Phone in my room didn’t work, the lovely reception lady came up to help me with the Tv and tried to sort the phone out but it wouldn’t work.no big deal but a pain if I wanted room service . The reception isn’t covered so you have to wonder round to find a member of staff would be better if they had a bell there . But again no big deal

Staff greeting us at reception was really friendly and helpful. Very warm welcome. Food pretty good.

Restaurant staff member was pleasant and helpful when assistance was sought, but could have been a little more proactive. Had to chase for the bill etc. Would have like an option for two breakfast prices, continental alone and a continental plus hot food item.

Didn’t have time for breakfast, but the room & dinner were faultless, amazing food attentive staff.

Nothing to do with hotel, but @booking.com your app let me book a pet friendly room but in fact on arrival it wasn’t!!! Thankfully the hotel accommodated for an additional £20, but this has happened on booking.com before so they really need to update their app.

Unique hotel despite its age its very modern, coffee machine in the room, sky tv , bluetooth speakers, dimmable lighting, spa jet baths, electric curtains. The best bit i think is the staff on the bar they didnt behave like monotone staff they had personalities and made me feel very welcome after 4 weeks travelling away for work. I couldnt order any takeaway as nowhere delivered and they offered to bring my something back from the shops and helped me find a local pizza place. I spent ages just talking to them as if they had been frrinds for years. These are the sort of people you need at the fore front of a hospitality business they do you credit and deserve a raise they make the stay not the rooms

Nothing i loved it here

Such good value for money. The rooms are nicely designed and we love the extra thought that goes into the bathrooms - making it a spa experience inside your room. The hotel and restaurant were very ambient and the food was delicious

It was a bit unclear how to use the in room speaker system - we worked it out in the end but some extra instructions would have made this a bit easier
