Very charming architecture and super location a few blocks from the beach situated in the midst of restaurants and shops. Room was large and updated. Breakfast area had great coffee and lots of choices with the nicest attendant.

We could easily hear snoring through the walls so they may not have been as updated as the room itself.

great quiet location in walkable town, quick walk to beach and all the restaurants, can hear ocean when step outside room, very comfy bed, clean, updated room and bathroom, warm pool, parking. The staff ladies on thursday and friday were VERY kind and helpful. I would absolutely stay again.

Parking during the crowded weekend was challenging. We needed to get ready for a wedding and there was no parking anywhere- cars circling. the staff let us park in the loading zone for 30min while we got ready. we didn't have problem for most of our stay - we parked on the street and in the lot. They should hire a valet during the crowded weekend.

I like that it was centrally located. The rooms were very clean and the staff was great! They were all very friendly from the front desk to the housekeepers, the lady at the breakfast room and even those we would pass in the hallways. Extremely helpful and friendly!

My only complaint was our bed was very lumpy on one room 107 but 109 said theirs was great- maybe it needs to be changed. It was the room directly in front of the handicap parking. We could also hear the footsteps from the room above us. We will be back and request a room on the second floor and hope we get one w/ a good mattress

We liked the location of the property. Only about 3 blocks from the ocean (to the left) and a block away from the stores, shops, bakeries, etc, (to the right). Modern shower & bathroom. Bed comfortable. Pool area looked quaint, but too cold this time of year to enjoy (or for it to be open). Breakfast area in the morning had pastries, bagels, cereal, juice, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, coffee & hot tea.

I can't say I didn't like anything about the stay or property. I would just double check the offerings for each room. My husband really likes a bath, and we got the modern shower. I thought a small microwave might be in the room, but it wasn't. We also like a spa, but we went without at this property. So, nothing bad, just double check the offerings before booking.

Best location in Carmel - located on the main street (Ocean ave) just below the major shopping and dining area and just above the beach. The room was very nice with updated bathroom, comfortable bed and looked recently repainted, new floors. Very efficient check in and out. It is nice to see the original character of the hotel architecture maintained, as it remains as we remember it over the 50 years my family has visited.

Not much not to like. maybe better lighting in the hallways leading to corner rooms on the first floor which don't get much sunlight. Better range of TV channels (did not find national news channels)

The breakfast was perfect for a little fuel to get us going in the morning. I had packaged oatmeal and a piece of fruit almost daily. Appreciated the hardboiled eggs that were available for a little protein. For a large, substantial breakfast, you would have to go to a restaurant. But this did the trick to get us out and about until lunch.

Fantastic location right in town. Parking on-site and ample free street parking nearby (even on a busy weekend). The room was delightful, with plenty of light, airy and well-designed. Comfortable bed. The breakfast was great and all of the staff that we interacted with were nice, helpful and delightful. Great value for Carmel and I would certainly stay here again next time I'm in the area. Thanks for a great stay!

What I liked about this property the most started out with something that went wrong. I have a bad back and the brand new pillow top mattress in my room was too soft and cushy for me. I brought this to the attention of the manager, Celia, and she explained that they had just replaced all of the mattresses in that wing. She got back to me after a 1/2 hour and had me try the mattress in another room that was twice the as nice as my original room. It was only slightly better but worth a try. She gave me the upgraded room at no extra charge and saved my 45th anniversary weekend for me and my wife. Not only that but all of the staff were just wonderful and friendly.

In my new upgraded room, it came with a kitchenette. Being that this was all one room, like a studio apartment, when the brand new refrigerator cycled on and off, it was disturbing my sleep. But since, I wasn't using it to keep anything, I just pulled the plug until the morning. Also, I mentioned to Celia the manager, that I was now spoiled and not used to seeing commercials when watching movies on TV. See, told me that they are working on that. Very little to complain about really.

The proximity to the town and the beach was perfect. It's a cozy in and not too busy. Parking was easy just outside the door, lots of free parking.

The breakfast room is small and limited in what it offers. Not many folk like eating off paper plates but there was yogurt, boiled eggs, cereal and items you can toast. A selection of granola bars and little cheeses. And fresh coffee and tea were adequate and it met our needs.

Can not ask for a better location as it was on Ocean Blvd and walkable to the beach and the center of town. The rooms and hotel itself is a little worn but comfortable enough. Staff was pleasant and helpful.

Parking is very limited. It is difficult to find street parking during the day. It is easier to find parking before 11 AM and after 7 PM.
