The dorm room was spacious enough and it was clean. The bunk bed was also spacious for me, it wa comfortable and i didn't have a hard time sleeping.

You need to pay for the towel, sleepers and everything "extra" you need. I guess this is common in hostels in tokyo but I came from sapporo before booking here and in my sapporo hostel, they had everything for free.

Quadruple Room with Private Bathroom(Room 841),The Wifi is good,shower water temperature and pressure was excellent,air-con is working very well and good in our summer stays,room well lit,toilet is well kept and clean,near to rail but don't really heard much noise from there eventhough our window we are facing it.The yellow colour bread is very nice and fragrant too when toasted,yummy!!

Folding table is available but folding chairs are not provided...We understand the space constraint of the room but with folding table but no chairs are kind of weird..The air -con vanes are dirty,the space of the room is rather small for our luggage and hard to move around if luggage is open up.daily buffet spread is simple and same everyday..

This is my 2nd experience staying at GRID. My first experience was with GRID Sapporo. Both locations are very well run. I stayed in the dorm and was lucky to be assigned to a corner bed space with two windows. The space extra allowed me to store my big luggage and offers extra privacy.

There were some inconveniences during my stay, but it is very minor. I wish there was a small garbage bin in the dorm so that one does not have to walk out of the room to throw stuff away. For the shared shower, I think it would be nice to have some hooks in the stall to go along with the clothing basket that was equipped in the shower room.

This is a little gem. As a family of five, it was great to be in one room together. The kids loved the almost capsule hotel idea with the curtains for each bunk. Everything was very clean and organised. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great value for money. And, the location really couldn’t be better - just a short walk from Ueno Keisei and Ueno JR station. Bag storage for the day was so handy. Grids was ideal for us arriving on the Keisei Skyliner from Narita at night and then leaving on the shinkansen the next day from Ueno (after a visit to Ueno Park and zoo).

Amazing location, right next to Ueno Station which is a major train station. Convienence store very close by. Staff spoke good english. Everything was clean and nice.

Relatively small beds compared to other Japanese hostels Ive stayed at. Mattress might be a little hard for some people. Also dont expect amazing breakfast options, pretty much just some toast, cereal, small sausages, tea, coffee etc, just enough to start your day.

I arrived around 2250H Sept 17, 2024, so I'm tired. The lady asked me to pay in cash, but then I told her that I paid in c card via booking online. Still, I paid in cash, and no receipt was issued. I wanted to rest so badly in prep for tom as I have only 3 days in Japan. Now, my bank charged me for the booking payment. I message the property and booking.com until now, and I'm waiting patiently to be assisted. My overall stay is good. I would love to be back, but I hope the property can assist me with my issue. Arigato.

If the system says pay by card, it should be paid by card. Staff know better as you have the system with you. We arrive in the hotel really tired most of the time.

Great location to first arrive in Tokyo - 10 minute walk from Ueno, which has a direct train from the airport. Safe, quiet neighbourhood with restaurants, 7/11 etc nearby. Staff were lovely and they have sim cards to buy at reception which was handy. I liked the location - I booked only a few nights here to explore things on the east side of Tokyo. This hostel was great and close to Uneo park/temple, Akihabara, Tsujuki Fish market, Team Lab, Ameyo market. Sensoji temple (compared to other areas I was going to stay like SHIBUYA. So I would recommend a few days in Ueno, then move accomodation to that area, which worked well for me.

Beds and pillows felt a little hard but I think this is most places in Japan. The rooms did get a little hot making it hard to sleep in the morning.

The location is quite good, near Ueno JR station. And it is still walkable from Ueno Subway Station, Ueno Park & Ameyokocho. The facilities is quite clean. They will clean your bed every 3 days. I got the lower bed (as per my request before check-in). There is small locker in the bed (you can kept your valuable items, i.e. wallet, hp, etc, there). There is space to store your luggage in the room and also to store your bag and shoes below the bed. You can kept your luggage on the same day you check-in and check-out.

The price is a little bit expensive for hostel, but, Ueno area where the hostel located is quite good location. The bed is too small. Almost the same menu for breakfast (I stayed there for 5 night) .. Towel is for rent (fortunately I brought my own towel after reading the hostel review).

I loved every second of my stay here! I stayed in a only female dorm room (We had an entire floor just for the girls) Every shower was a little room , so very private and nice ! The bad was comfy and you have curtains- so the lights won’t come in , and you just feel cozy. The kitchen area on the first floor was really nice and a great spot to find other solo travelers! They also have a washroom, with a washing machine and a dryer. And the staff were super nice and helpful Also- the area is amazing So cool with tons of stores , And right next to Ueno station (A huge train station that has even Shinkansen)
