Location! Right at the back of jr station, so convenient

They charged me an extra 500yen because according to them i booked a much more expensive room than the others whereas i booked the same room as theirs, which is a standard double room.

Great location right next to Ueno train station, so the property is connected well to the city and Narita airport. Other great areas are within walking distance. The room was pretty spacious. Finally the hotel is amazing value for money.

The property and the room were pretty old and dated. There was a lot of wear and tear (stains on the walls, water stains in the bathroom, not all areas were cleaned well). The room also lacks electrical outlets, doesn’t have usb outlets, and is accessed with a big heavy key (no keycard).

The hotel is in a fabulous spot with lots of easy access to shops, food and Ueno station. The staff are very friendly and helpful and even helped us dispose of a broken suitcase. There are toiletries provided in the main lobby and a single vending machine in the laundry

The facilities at the hotel were lacking, there is a shared kitchen that is quite dirty and had an unpleasant smell, the clothes dryer does not work well and was very expensive for us to still have wet clothes. There is no house keeping and you must take any trash downstairs yourself which is not a problem but definitely not convenient.

Large bathroom. Fridge in room. Washers and dryers were very helpful. Convenience store (Konbini) located right across the street for breakfast, coffee, cash. Located a few blocks away from the really busy part of Ueno so the rooms were quiet and comfortable.

Not enough power outlets for charging phones/cameras/laptop. Room key is an actual metal key and there's only one. When my brother and I wanted to do separate things throughout the day, we had to make arrangements of who was taking the key for the day. Hotel located near train station back entrance, but you still have to walk several blocks to get to the turnstiles to enter the train station.

The location was great, very convenient to Ueno station. The beds were comfortable, however it would have been good if there was perhaps a break on the wheels - one night sat too enthusiastically and the bed nearly rolled away. The bathroom was spacious, which was a nice change.

The key for the room was a physical key, and there was an item on the key that had to be inserted for the power to work in the room - we were a bit confused until we figured this out. The fire escape/stairs were opposite our room, and the door was propped open. Reception said it was closed at night, but this was a bit unusual.

Check in and out were very easy and quick with lovely staff. Room and bed were comfortable. No issues with the wifi. Aircon was available to be adjusted for your personal preference. Mineral water in fridge was a nice touch. The location was excellent; easy walk to the train station (~2min), Ueno Park (~9min), Ameyoko Shopping Street (~10min) and Asakusa (~20min), along with lots of restaurants, bars and 3 convenience stores. Ueno is on the Yamanote Line making it easy to get around different popular spots and attractions.

There was a strong smell of mildew when I first entered after being out for some time, however this didn't seem to linger once inside the room. The bed moves on the floor very easily. There was some noise from the road so if you are a very light sleeper perhaps request a higher floor. There was only one plug next to the bed (which had the lamp plugged into it), but there were some by the desk and bathroom.

A very convenient location within five-minutes reach of JR Ueno station and stations of two metro lines, meaning very easy transit to whatever places in Tokyo and Suburbs and both airports. Quite a few convenient stores around the hotel. The room is not big but big enough for a short stay, and is clean. Rooms at upper floors can see SkyTree. Although there is no room services and housekeeping, I can get clean towels and bath mat everyday at reception. The staff can speak English.

The power socket by the bed is insufficient. The hotel entrance on street level is a bit subtle that I missed when I first arrived.

Vaugh, at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. We were able to check in early which was great.

Electrical outlets need to be in a better location. There is one next to the wash basin that is not safe. Also the outlet by the window is not convenient because the wooden blinds prevents plugging in chargers properly. The last item is grab bars in the shower would be great for safety reasons. The second room reserved for two people was quite small because there were limited space for the luggage.

Location - fantastic. Yes, it’s near Ueno station a huge station with dozens of exits but once you find the right exit, it’s literally just across the road. Amenities - although provided in the room, amenities like toothbrushes, bathrobe, towels are free to take from the lobby. Staff - the young man let us check in earlier than 4pm the usual check in time. I was so grateful because I came down with a cold and needed the rest desperately. Wish I got his name to commend him properly :(

Size - the hotel is right smacked in downtown Tokyo and unless you pay $500 and up for a night in swanky hotels, the smallish room size is to be expected. But for a night or two, it’s good enough for the location.

Sutton Place Hotel is very well-located for walking to the many places of interest in Ueno and to the stations, which provide easy access to everywhere else in Tokyo and Narita Airport. The hotel itself is an oasis of calm close to the bustling heart of Ueno's entertainment district. The rooms are very well designed and provide high levels of amenity for such compact spaces. The full-size bath provides a welcome luxury after a day of walking around Tokyo!

Everything exceeded my expectations!
