Great location - next to Ueno station/park. Bunk beds were comfortable, our room would easily fit 6 single people. Each bed had their own hub with a light, USB and outlet. As with many hotels, they provide slippers. Also had enough toiletries, cups, towels for 6. There is breakfast on site and a fridge with some beverages for purchase but we didn’t try any of it.

May be a little noisy for light sleepers. Reception is quite small and luggage from travelers that have checked out or yet to check in stays there.

The dorm room was spacious enough and it was clean. The bunk bed was also spacious for me, it wa comfortable and i didn't have a hard time sleeping.

You need to pay for the towel, sleepers and everything "extra" you need. I guess this is common in hostels in tokyo but I came from sapporo before booking here and in my sapporo hostel, they had everything for free.

Very convenient location! Typical style of room for what you would get in Tokyo although the double bed only just fit in the room. Again the trade off for convenience.

Value wasn’t quite there given the price. However, this is perhaps a function of the increasing popularity of Tokyo as a tourist destination.

Quadruple Room with Private Bathroom(Room 841),The Wifi is good, shower water temperature and pressure was excellent,air-con is working very well and good in our summer stays, room well lit, toilet is well kept and clean, near to rail but don't really heard much noise from there eventhough our window we are facing it.The yellow colour bread is very nice and fragrant too when toasted, yummy!!

Folding table is available but folding chairs are not provided...We understand the space constraint of the room but with folding table but no chairs are kind of weird..The air -con vanes are dirty, the space of the room is rather small for our luggage and hard to move around if luggage is open up.daily buffet spread is simple and same everyday..

This is a little gem. As a family of five, it was great to be in one room together. The kids loved the almost capsule hotel idea with the curtains for each bunk. Everything was very clean and organised. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great value for money. And, the location really couldn’t be better - just a short walk from Ueno Keisei and Ueno JR station. Bag storage for the day was so handy. Grids was ideal for us arriving on the Keisei Skyliner from Narita at night and then leaving on the shinkansen the next day from Ueno (after a visit to Ueno Park and zoo).

This is my 2nd experience staying at GRID. My first experience was with GRID Sapporo. Both locations are very well run. I stayed in the dorm and was lucky to be assigned to a corner bed space with two windows. The space extra allowed me to store my big luggage and offers extra privacy.

There were some inconveniences during my stay, but it is very minor. I wish there was a small garbage bin in the dorm so that one does not have to walk out of the room to throw stuff away. For the shared shower, I think it would be nice to have some hooks in the stall to go along with the clothing basket that was equipped in the shower room.

This is our second time to rent this place.Grids is near Ueno station, though you have to walk for about ten minutes to reach it ( exercise). The location was safe, near a family mart, near a ramen house, no noisy surroundings. The room was clean, and when we were about to check out, one thing i noticed was that all the linens and foam beds were put in a truck and picked up by a cleaning agency ( probably to clean and sterilize). Check in time is at 4pm, but you can leave your luggages ahead of time. Check out time is at 11am, and still you can leave your luggages and pick up at a later time.

Since we rented a family room, we were not allowed to bring food in our room, we have to eat at the lobby where there are tables for eating clients. The weighing scale to weigh our luggages was a bit difficult to use, hope they have a weighing scale with a platform.

The location was great, there's a lot to do within walking distance and the train connections to other parts of Tokyo are good. It was really convenient to get there from Haneda, and it's handy being so close to a smaller exit of Ueno station. I also liked that the area felt slightly less touristy than other parts of Tokyo, and that the hostel was situated on a quieter street but still close to the busy area of Ueno. I thought the room had enough space for luggage and the beds and bathrooms were comfortable and clean. It was nice having an entirely female-only floor, it was very quiet.

The common area is small and not very inviting. There isn't really anywhere to go if you'd like to make a call or have some private space.

Amazing location, right next to Ueno Station which is a major train station. Convienence store very close by. Staff spoke good english. Everything was clean and nice.

Relatively small beds compared to other Japanese hostels Ive stayed at. Mattress might be a little hard for some people. Also dont expect amazing breakfast options, pretty much just some toast, cereal, small sausages, tea, coffee etc, just enough to start your day.

Best hostel I’ve ever staying in - and I’ve stayed in ALOT. I initially stayed in a terrible hostel in Asakusa, so I walked over to Grids (I stayed here before and knew it was good), the staff were so understanding and managed to fit me in that very night. I am so grateful for what the staff did for me. Their breakfast isn’t too bad, it isn’t a lot but you’d probably spend the same at 7-11 (breakfast was 770yen). They have a whole female only floor so I felt very safe. The bed framing is very secure so you can’t feel when the person above or below you moves. Fridge, microwave, food toaster type thing in kitchen. Free drinking water

The mattresses are hard, the rooms are squishy (but hey, it’s Tokyo) and there isn’t a lot of luggage storage space. But I’d still stay here again and again.
