I am not normally one to write reviews however after exhausting myself with searching Tokyo accomodation and Ive also stayed in Tokyo twice before I will save you time. I will say this, you can stop looking and just book. Whilst there was minimal staff interaction due to not being needed and also being a self check in Hotel there was staff available at 3.00pm when check in opens and they were great. Process was smooth and both Stayme and booking.com were both excellent in providing easy to follow instructions. The room was better and bigger than I thought, YES unusual for Tokyo :) Everything you need was supplied inclusive of toiletries.A Lawsons and family Mart were a 30 second walk in either direction if you need anything. Beds were super comfortable, air con/heater split system that was easy to use, shower awesome with washing machine dryer and a seperate toilet which was fantastic. if you want gym, pool, onsen then this is not place for you although there is a gym 30 seconds up the road. This is a place if you want to sleep up to 4, that is new or like new, that is well appointed and excellent value for money in Tokyo but most of all its LOCATION!!. UENO STATION 2 minute walk to JR lines, 5 minute walk to metro lines. ( we got METRO 3 day unlimited rail pass from memory about $15aud).10 minute walk to Keisi - ueno station for Narita airport line. 40 minutes to Narita. $20 aud. you are literally less than 20 minute train ride to wherever you want to go, 10 minute walk to shopping district, Museums, zoo, Park, 20 minute walk to ninja and samurai museum anyways you get my drift. stop looking just book. hope this helped :)

Not a dislike just a suggestion. A couple of tea, coffee,sugar satchels for arrival.

It was very close to the train station and convenience stores. Very good value for money. Our room was good for 4 but it might get cramped for 4, 3 would be comfortable.

I'm not used to unmanned front desk. It would have been if there was someone to ask questions

It was conveniently located near Uneo Station, which was perfect for travelling, especially cause we were catching the shinkansen, and this was one of its stops. It was also within walking distance to the market. The accommodation has washer/dryer within the apartment making it very convenient and although it is compact which we expected as that's how most accommodation in Tokyo are, we love that our family of 4 was able to still have a bed each. Would definitely stay again.

There is no onsite reception, so you do need to self check in, and there's no option for luggage storage, so if you are forwarding your luggage, that may not be possible. However, there are plenty of lockers close by at Uneo Station.

The location is excellent close to Ueno station not far from the Iriya exit. It is easy to find. The room was clean and looked just like the pictures. It is like an apartment with kitchen, washer/dryer, and separate toilet and bath. One of the more spacious rooms I stayed in Japan. I would recommend and stay here again.

The QR code for booking.com would not scan correctly, it would add spaces and I had to manually type it in Shampoo/soap amenities at the front desk would run out Towels are on the thin side

Great location. Nice and clean, with nice bunk beds in the family room. Good view and little noise on the top floors.

Awful check in. Despite having uploaded relevant documents from home and having the QR code ready we were unsuccessful in checking in. There are two check-in machines, coming up with two different errors! All other couples we met trying to check in also had problems. We finally managed to get in after an employee came by and helped us and the rest of guests trying to check in. If you are lucky to check in it is a great place, but would not rely on a late night check in…

Loved the location, the room layout, the washroom, the air conditioning, the laundry machine. The room was clean, decent amount of space by Japanese standards, and you could wash your clothing! Loved having access to the kitchenette. The dishes and fridge were super handy! Air conditioning worked perfectly. The check-in was a BREEZE - I was so worried and it was seamless. Also, there were 1-2 people at the counter most of the time we came in and out - which gives a bit of peace of mind that help is around if you need it. If you need to drop off your luggage BEFORE checking in - so that you can go out exploring - they have a rather large luggage lock areas. We had 4 big suitcases and we only took up about a quarter of it. That being said, there are large luggage lockers at Ueno station on your way to the hotel - so you could also use those. Another great aspect is the location - very close to Ueno station, restaurants, and dépanneurs. The Station is a 5 mins walk, there is a AMAZING Soba noodle restaurant right next door (we went twice for supper), a fantastic Indian restaurant a block away (we went for lunch - it was my youngest's favorite meal of the whole trip - and we ate well EVERYWHERE!). You can pick either Family Mart or Lawson, both are around 2 mins walk from the hotel (i.e. 1-1.5 blocks). There is also a cool coffee shop a couple blocks north, pastries and green tea latte were delicious.

The digital number lock on the door - sometimes it wouldn't work, so we had to re-type the number code multiple times before it would let us in. It was unnecessarily stressful. Also, you had to lock it - it did not lock automatically! Which no one told us about - we figured that out on our own.

Location is excellent. Threre is a Family Mart and a Lawson (small supermarkets) close by and it is only max 10 mins walk to the station for the Kesei Skyliner and the normal underground station. Perfect for families. Also within walking distance of shopping centre, Ueno park, musuem, zoo etc. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. Luggage storage at the stations - easy to arrange and cheap. Neat little bar next door with One Piece theme. We were two adults, 14 year old , and 11 year old. Bunks for the kids and two singles next to each other for adults. Friendly and helpful staff (even though we were told that there would be no staff on site). Beds comfortable and facilities all good. Not loads of extra room but enough for us for a few nights. Very clean and tidy and modern. Highly recommend.

The shower was a bit steamy and a fan might help.

In our opinion the accommodation is very good. Comfortable beds, washing machine, AC, enough space for two people easily. The self check in was not so complicated as I read in the reviews beforehand, just do it online and then you only need to show a QR code at check in. There was staff present so they even helped us.

The carpet in the room was not the cleanest but there is a vacuum cleaner in the room so we fixed that quickly. Also 2 rolls of toilet paper are not enough. There should be at least 4-6 rolls prepared just in case. We bought more at the nearest store so it’s not a huge issue but for the price it should be included.
