Stayed in a Deluxe room (room 1) at the front of the property. Lovely place to stay for a couple of nights, close to the station and to the city centre. Clean and spacious room, comfy bed, and tasty breakfast options (a full porterhouse breakfast grill is basically a full English powered up with the addition of a steak!). Not an enormous choice but a good range of options so definitely didn't feel short-changed. Had dinner on the Friday night which was really delicious - we both had steaks which were beautifully cooked and the recommended wine pairings were excellent. Friendly and helpful staff. Oxford is an expensive city to stay in, but this is a nice option if you don't fancy the big corporate-styled chain hotels. It's not quite a boutique hotel, but that's more than made up for by the restaurant being exceptionally good.
We were really happy with stay and had no complaints at all

What's not to like here... Excellent location near the station (hopefully the construction will be done at some point in the future). But the real BANG is Porterhouse itself. Small scale hotel. Comfortable/luxurious rooms in a charming old building. Excellent beds (with duvet!!!!). Super luxy bathroom. Awesome shower. And then there is the restaurant. The breakfast is so good that you don't anything until supper. Go for the Porterhouse Grill. And then supper... Boy. That meat... We first had the sirloin which was super good, but even that paled in comparison with the chateau briand. The staff was friendly, helpful and showed a good sense of humour too! Maxium number of stars. And then some!
Totally out of the hotel's control: the construction work in the near vicinity. Slightly annoying, but we will remember our stay because of the many, many positive things.

This is an example of a properly which has substance as a foundation, instead of style, which typically happens in most cases. The staff is definitely a credit, with great touches, exhausting all potential out of this place. Lily was particularly great and very responsive when contacting them pre-arrival. The food is great, and my god their stake is a must try. Location was better than I thought.
Now you have to be realistic, this is not a hotel, so putting your expectations in line with how it’s advertised I would say this place met if not exceeded my expectations, considering I booked a same day trip for 2 nights.

Lovely room and bathroom. Clean and well presented. The cooked breakfasts are excellent Very near the station but a short walk to the city centre. However, it was quiet with little external noise. I didn't hear anything from the bar and grill below. I would gladly stay here again.
The stairs leading up to the rooms could do with a lick of paint and new carpets. There is an excellent fridge on the middle floor for all seven rooms, but I am used to having my own! Another minor point; the one side of the (very comfortable) bed has no light switch.

Hotel Review We stayed at this hotel for one night with a friend and absolutely loved it. The location is convenient, and there’s a lovely pub downstairs with an aesthetic interior and delicious breakfast. The room was spacious, warm, and beautifully designed, with a very comfortable bed. Everything was excellent and of a high standard. The staff were also incredibly friendly and welcoming. Being close to the train station made the location even more convenient. Overall, our stay was wonderful, and if we visit Oxford again, we’ll definitely stay here.

The atmosphere and the styling of both the restaurant and the rooms is really nice! The staff is friendly and accommodating. The rooms and beds are comfortable.
Not something the hotel has any influence on, however the location is troubled by construction in the neighborhood. It doesn’t cause sound disturbances, but it mainly causes the hotel to be somewhat cut off from the city. On foot however this is not a problem and it’s as ever easy access to the center.

The room was a generous size and very comfortable. Shower was great and bed was comfortable. Breakfasts were included and delicious we loved the Eggs Benedict with bacon. We did not eat dinner there but enjoyed the beer in the comfortable bar. Most of the staff were helpful and friendly and we enjoyed our stay there. Great location for walking into Oxford and close to the station. Would recommend it and would stay there again.
The lighting by the bed is inadequate. We are readers and luckily travel with small book lights which we definitely needed! There was construction going on close by so a bit noisy in the mornings but not the fault of the Porterhouse Grill.

The room was large and comfortable. The shower was excellent with instant hot water and plenty of water pressure. There was plenty of room to store things conveniently. Breakfast was very high class in the steakhouse, with steak, bacon, muffins, and poached eggs, as well as cereal, yogurt, juice, and tea or coffee. It was easy to find walking from the train station.
We stayed on the 3rd floor (no lift), and the stairs were narrow and a little wonky, so getting luggage up and back down was tricky.

Room was nicely decorated. Bed was comfy and there was a coffee machine in the room with milk and water in the fridge downstairs. Good location and lovely breakfast in the morning.
One downside is that it was a really warm day so we had to sleep with the window open as the room was absolutely boiling. Even with a dyson air conditioner and a fan, it was really warm. There is a smokehouse in the kitchen somewhere so our whole room stank of smoke as we must have been directly above it. Really unpleasant smell, so had to keep the window shut so we couldn't get any ventilation.

The breakfast was excellent, especially the porterhouse grill breakfast which was the best I've had in any hotel in the UK, it actually had a small piece of steak! And it tasted unbelievably good, the eggs were so tender, I've never had such a tender poached egg. The room is spacious and well-equipped. Water, milk and fruit are provided at the corner on the first floor. The bedding is very comfortable.
The location is a little bit far from the town center but close to the train station. 17 mins by foot.
