This is a stunning property, stylishly and lovingly maintained by Jenny and Jacques, supported by a fabulous team of staff. The setting could not be better, with a farm gate leading directly into the Groot Constantia vineyard. There is a pool, super lounge with roaring fire for the winter and lovely touches like complimentary after-dinner liqueur available. There is tea and coffee making available in all the rooms and also in the bar, which served a beautiful freshly-baked cake in the afternoon for a communal tea. There appeared to be a well-stocked bar, though we didn't get the chance to use it as I had to cut my trip short sadly. My friends, who stayed on, took advantage of the house 'taxi service' and had a lift to a nearby restaurant from one of the members of staff, which was very convenient. My friend gets chilly easily and they arrived back from their dinner to find that Jenny had noticed this and put an electric blanket on to warm up her bed! Super service and attention to detail. Breakfast was delicious and served in a lovely sunny breakfast room.

Devonport House is absolutely stunning, in a peacefull area of Constantia. The grounds and swimming pool are very well maintained. Our room, with a balcony, had beautiful views over the vineyards towards the Franschhoek and Stellenbosch mountains and surpassed our expectations. Jaques and Jennie were the perfect hosts. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly, meeting our needs entirely. The continental breakfast buffet was plentiful and the use of the honesty bar, with refreshments and drinks available throughout the day, was an added bonus. Having the use of a driver to take us wherever we wanted to visit was very useful.

There was nothing to dislike about Devonport House. It was a joy to walk through the vinyard at the end of the garden to the restaurants of the Groot Constantia Wine Estate, especially as the sun was setting. They even have their own resident Peacock, Louis, who regularly came up to the house and gave a magnificent display of his feathers!

This is a fabulous guest house, the owner Jaques meets you and is really welcoming and informative. All the staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is a nice continental buffet style, with plenty of options. There are two pools, we only used the main one, but very clean and a good temperature. Plenty of towels and beds / seating by the pool. They also have a driver, who will shuttle you around for approximately the same cost as an uber, but he's very reliable and that’s important. The rooms are very well equipped, plenty of storage, a safe and comfy beds. There's an honesty bar, which is well stocked for most needs I would think. We will absolutely go back to stay the next time we are in Constantia.

The only slight downside (which will depend on the time of year you visit) is there is no air con, but there is a tall fan in the room to compensate.

Loved everything at Devonport House! Luxurious accommodation with thoughtful and comfortable facilities and exceptional hosts that made our stay blissful. Loved taking a morning vineyard walk through neighbouring Groot Constantia which was followed by a hearty breakfast at Devonport House. Jacques and Jenn catered so well for us with healthy vegetarian and vegan options which we appreciated, especially plant based milk. The little details and gestures such as the provision of an afternoon cake in the lounge and little chocolate at our bedside every night added a personal touch to an already lovely stay. The ambience of their Constantia home, their cute dogs, the magnificent peacock and the stunning garden is ideal for a peaceful and relaxing stay in Cape Town. Every interaction with Jacques, Jenn, Pinto and the rest of the Devonport House team has been so warm and welcoming and they really set the standard as hosts. We will definitely be back.... for longer!

Very beautiful, peaceful, and comfortable facilities in a location just above constantia village. Excellent continental breakfast plus complimentary hot drinks at any time. Reasonably priced honesty bar, paid on departure. Laundry service available. Great hosts, efficient but not formal. Appreciate the lifts to local restaurants and sights from their driver ( Pinto). We did not have a hire a car but the lifts provided were offered at a good price, as is uber if you are stuck. Jenn & jacques make you feel totally at home. One evening we did not feel like going out so we ordered in from a local restaurant. Very much appreciated to be able to do this. Special mention to the gorgeous gardens and pool.

You are a little away from the village. A car is advisable.

An excellent location, a wonderful homely Guest house with Jacques and Jenny making you feel so welcome. It was spotless and very comfortable and our bedroom had spectacular views. Two great restaurants in Groot Constantia only a 5min walk through the vineyards and when you needed to go back Pinto the driver was there. We so enjoyed the tea and fresh cake in the afternoon, one felt totally spoilt. We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 nights and were sad to leave.

Jacques and Jenn are outstanding hosts. They put a lot of heart into the accommodation. It was as if they simply enjoyed being with people. They made us feel at home straight away. They gave us lots of tips for our stay in Cape Town and the rest of our route in South Africa. It was the best accommodation we have ever stayed in. The rooms were beautiful, clean and had a cosy bed. The whole house is very stylishly furnished. The breakfast is super tasty, healthy and prepared with lots of love. The surroundings with the vineyards are picturesque. Thank you very much for this great stay. We will come again!

Luxury accommodation close to Great Constantia with a stunning view over the Cape flatlands towards the Blouberge. Only Table Mountain or Signal Hill can beat it. Nothing is missing. From a large pool to the pool billiard, coffee machines for easy use, spacey rooms, lively garden (with Louis, the peacock 🦚). Nicely presented breakfast, freshly prepared with love and tender care at the time of your request. Top class ingredients. Jenn and Jacques are marvellous hosts doing everything to make your stay even more comfortable than you would imagine. So do their staff members. They have so much to offer. If we could do another Mothercity stay, Devonport House would be our first choice. We felt safe and at home.

We picked this guesthouse to be able to stay within a short drive/walk from Constantia and the area. The owners were friendly and welcoming, we had a room with a nice outline, which had all we needed, incl. vanity set and hairdryer in the bathroom, nice courtesy tray in the room and enough space for our luggage. The breakfast was rather good, we enjoyed decent coffee - and there was a nice selection of wines for the evening. Would definitely stay here again.
