This is a very special place in the Constantia suburbs of Cape Town. The garden is lush, and Room 8 is perhaps one of the best rooms we have stayed in at any hotel anywhere in the world. This is not the place to stay if you want a lot of local activity and shopping, but it is a place to rest, recuperate, and be pampered.

We had one major issue with our stay that could have resulted in a relocation and cancellation except that the hotel staff did a great job to accommodate us. Some months ago, the staff adopted a stray cat (perhaps a noble intention), but for guests like my wife, who has a severe and deathly allergy to cats, the presence of a feline in the common areas of the property made it impossible for us to enjoy the lounge areas and required our meals to be taken outside or in our room. The management understands the folly of allowing cats or dogs to roam freely in a public hotel space, and told me that they are in the process of finding a home for the cat. However, guests booking the Last Word Constantia should check ahead of time if there are concerns about cat allergies.

The attention to detail is a cut above the rest. They think of everything and have those special touches added which make it superb. Certain drinks are on the house for the guests to enjoy as well as baked cake for the afternoon. Our room had beautiful decor and very spacious with a private seating outdoors and pool one can enjoy in warmer weather. The minibar in the room stocks fresh milk and a variety of hot beverages to enjoy as well as bottled water. The staff was very friendly and informative. The adjacent restaurant next door is so convenient for the guests from the Last Word. Breakfast couldn't be better and the beautiful garden must be mentioned.

Great location for Constantia Wineries and restaurants. A welcoming and comfortable oasis with lovely pool and gardens. Staff are always wonderful at Last Word, welcoming and friendly. Breakfasts are fabulous, you'll want for nothing. Have been fortunate to have stayed here many times and visiting again in March. Love it. 20 mins drive to the City bowl and Waterfront and only a bit more to the airport, we usually stay our last few days here. As a bonus there are often lovely extras included as well.

Front of house staff were attentive and did well to put the property in its best light. The lounge was beautiful and relaxing and the gardens stunning and well kept. All the staff were friendly

The fridge of drinks wasn’t very cold and the ice bucket was never filled until about 2pm. There were rarely cokes or beers in the fridge- we had to ask for this. Coffee at breakfast wasn’t very good quality- quite watery and weak.

We stayed for 2 nights and wished we could have stayed longer! The hotel has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and the staff were all very friendly and efficient. The honesty bar was a really cute touch and added to that ‘home from home’ feel. The breakfast was excellent and extremely generous-it includes everything you could think of. We also loved the tranquil pool area and the gorgeous garden. We would love to return!

The only thing we could fault was the cleanliness of the small private pool that came with our room. We didn’t use it as it didn’t look very inviting.

Having lived in Cape Town for five years is important context, which is why we decided to stay at The Last Word. The staff was extremely friendly, professional, and courteous, and anything we needed we received. The included breakfast was excellent, and overall, I highly recommend The Last Word.

Truthfully, nothing really. You have to know it's located in Constantia in the Southern Suburbs, so if you are looking to explore downtown Cape Town, likely not the best location. But again, beyond that, highly recommend it.

I booked on behalf of colleagues from Austria who I was hosting. We always look for the best experience we can give our guests and Last Work Constantia has never disappointed us. Our guests enjoyed the breakfasts and the convenience of having Peddlars restaurant right next door. The complementary bottle of wine was a nice touch.

Beautifully appointed rooms that are large and spacious Loved the turndown - it was icy during the time we visited, and we received a turndown with a hot water bottle and dessert Breakfast is well plated with alot of focus on the aesthetic. The light is beautiful. Was offered a halasl breakfast which was so thoughtful.

The entrance is not well lit, especially when driving in late at night The main foyer feels slightly dated

16h00 coffee and cake were an amazing surprise. The dining room and lounge overlooking the lush garden are beautifully appointed. Wish we had stayed longer to be able to try all the breakfast options. All the staff went out of their way to make the visit pleasurable.

The rooms are absolutely beautiful and cosy and the location is great. Close to restaurants and wine farms. We received a warm welcome.

The service at breakfast was very slow. We were told that it was due to a short staff situation but we literally waited 30 mins for coffee one morning and thereafter I had finished my breakfast before my husband’s arrived. The second morning was better but still not what we expected.
