What a beautiful, magnificent, dreamy setting. Everything about La Cotte is absolutely stunning. It’s a wonderful stay with children. The forest cottages were stunning & so cozy.

There should be signage directing to the main gate as two different maps take you to the gate that is not in use. If you’re staying in the forest cottages, just note the upstairs gets very light early, as there aren’t curtains on all the windows. We had breakfast at the hotel, but there were no other options for protein other than pork.

no curtains for some windows, and very shine through curtains, making it difficult to sleep for our children during the day. also the “second bedroom” upstairs was not so safe for children as it doesn’t have a door or a stairs lock/protector which would protect our daughter from walking down the stairs in the dark in the middle of the night

We loved the beauty and quietness of this resort and the lovely restaurant in two areas. The location was a pleasant easy walk into town with it's many lovely restaurants and individual retail shops. It was nice to have the indoor open fire and BBQ facility out on the terrace with a table, chairs and comfy couch. The cottage kitchen was well equipped and the cottage size was very good.

The cottage needs another form of heating because some guests may not be able to start the fire when required and there is no a vent in the bathroom to get rid of the shower steam.

A day before our arrival I had a moment of panic as I realised I had booked the self-catering cottages and not the actual hotel. For anyone else with the same concerns - I promise you it is fantastic. Fly far exceeded my expectations. The cottage is beautiful, and very spacious. The swimming pool you share with the other cottages is fabulous - it was so warm when we were there and as per some other comments it was slippery around the edge so if you have kids make sure they have water shoes/crocs. The ground are really lovely - great for kids with all the grass. It’s also very safe. When I was looking on google maps it looked like the cottages are completely separate and you access it by a different road but it’s all on the same secure and property with constant security watch.

Fantastic stay at La Cotte Forest Cottages in Franschhoek. The location was perfect & within walking distance of the Wine Tram station which was very handy. Lovely, clean & comfortable family cottage with everything you need for self-catering - there was even wood for a braai on the patio. The kids loved the outdoor swimming pool & space. Perfect for families. Double 13th birthday celebration made extra special with a very kind birthday card, chocolates & bottle of non-alcoholic sparkling wine which they loved! Definitely recommend :)

The location was perfect for an overnight stay with a function to attend nearby at Dieu Donne. The cottages are very comfortable and very tastefully decorated and fully equipped. The covered veranda and outside braai area are great - although we werent there for long enough to use them.

We had my cousin and her husband staying with us on the mezzanine level of our cottage and due to the wooden floors - it is very noisy when anyone walks around upstairs. The shower was lovely and spacious but the water pressure was not that strong

Beautiful and spacious cottage on a stunning property. It was lovely to have use of the pool. Fantastic location within walking distance of Franschhoek town but still feels quiet and remote. Cottage is well equipped with a braai and kitchenware.

It was very hot in the bedrooms at night which made it difficult to sleep. An air conditioning unit in the bedroom would have made our stay much more comfortable.

Wow. We were so lucky to stay here - it was a haven. We had the most beautiful little cottage with a barbecue and it was just the most peaceful experience - exactly what we needed. Also so easy to get into Franschhoek. The restaurant at La Cotte is also magnificent and the staff are brilliant and professional. We were devastated that we only stayed for 2 days and will be back!!

Excellent service from the reception staff. Helped on a Saturday night with some extra amenities. It was the way in which they did it that stood out. Small gestures can make such a difference! Beautiful and well-equipped unit. I prefer the Orchard cottages over the Forest cottages. Lunch at the hotel was a great idea - lovely setting.

Would have loved an electric blanket on a cold winter's night.

Beautiful and secure estate in a gorgeous part of South Africa. Lovely gardens, vineyards and pool area. The cottage was very tastefully decorated, spacious for our family of 4, clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. The staff were friendly and professional.

It's probably down to personal preferences, but the beds could be a bit harder. Apart from that, there was nothing to fault and we will certainly plan to stay longer next time!
