The staff, the dining room/hall, the medieval area and proximity to covered market and airport bus.

❓Bar did not serve a glass of cava...just a bottle...so I had to have a GnT instead...in Bilbao I wanted CAVA! ❓The bar does not serve any snacks or pinchos ❓strange cold under-cooked poached eggs for breakfast...why?! ❓the room was a bit hot and stuffy...even with the air con. The duvets were too warm. ❓A bit odd having the sink in the main room not in the shower room.

The hotel was stylish and in a great location, the bed was very comfortable, breakfast was exceptional and the staff were super helpful and friendly. Although the hotel was very clear about having no parking, guests should be aware that the nearest 24hr parking is about 20 min walk from the hotel & costs approximately €22 per day. A minor point: one morning breakfast got exceptionally busy with many guests arriving to eat in quick succession- the buffet was not replenished for 20 mins & other guests who’d arrived after us were served before us. It was very frustrating.

We stayed at Goien for a long weekend in Bilbao for my partners birthday, and couldn't recommend it more. The boutique hotel feels really new and clean, with a breakfast great, and overall a lovely feel. The staff were particularly helpful and accommodating (they organised a bottle of champagne for my partners birthday in the room), and the location was perfect, situated within the centre of the old town. We would highly recommend and look forward to hopefully visiting again soon. Thank you Goien for a lovely stay!

We couldn't think of anything as it was such a great stay and amazing value for the money.

Elegant, quirky, very very comfortable (good bed, heat, shower during very cold winter). Room was well lit rare during travel and nice for someone who reads nightly. Fantastic location for me. In old town, two vegetarian friendly, one literally next door and several more within 5 minutes. Right by river, easy 30 minutes walk to Guggenheim. Staff were also just lovely, beyond the call of duty. And,. I didn't ask and received a room upgrade.

Nothing. It's a very well thought through little place. If you want unusual, affordable, character, tis the place. I've stayed in much blander 5 stars.

A truely pleasant surprise. The decoration, ideas and overall concept of the Hotel is far beyond my expectations. What we also noticed is the enormous amount of detail in the finnishings of the Hotel, and the top quality materials used both in (re-)construction as decoration. From the sound proofness of the rooms, to the best waterpressure I ever had in a Hotel shower, the delicious breakfast, choice of beveragres and kindness of staff and owners. For me, this Hotel on itself is a reason to go back both personally as professionaly.

A place (or holder) to put the suitcases.

This boutique hotel was perfect. I was so impressed with the detail of the interior design. The hotel is small as are the rooms, but the level of comfort and atmosphere could compete with larger hotels. The rooms were stylish and very comfortable. The shower was high end. The staff really cared as was evidenced by the level of service we received. My expectations for breakfast were a bit low given the size of the hotel and am happy to say I was SO very wrong. The breakfast was amazing - the detail again was surprising n a great way.

It would have been nice to have a view from our room, but honestly this is me stretching to fill in this box.

Breakfast was amazing, I regret I didn't have it each morning and just paid the extra. The hotel is so beautifully designed and really a pleasure to stay there. I like to walk and everything I wanted to see - the museums, including the Guggenheim, were in walking distance - and La Ribera is just across the road. The Old Town is so charming and everyone so friendly, I just loved Bilbao (it was my first visit) and my hotel definitely contributed to that feeling and positive experience. All the staff I encountered were lovely.

It is useful to know that the rooms are definitely 'boutique' - and quite small, mine had no cupboard space. I was surprised to have a single bed, but I got used to it quickly. It isn't really a negative, more an observation.

The staff were very welcoming, pleasant and helpful and the room was clean and modern. The pillows were really comfy. They do a great breakfast if you decide to have breakfast there. The hotel is located near the river in the old town, an excellent location. It's also close to the tram, bars for breakfast and tapas and an indoor market (but beware, there are numerous butcher counters).

Not a big deal but the room can get noisy, as there are bars nearby and then cleaning trucks or collections and deliveries in the mornings. In fairness we had our balcony door ajar (rather than use air conditioning). We decided to embrace the sounds of the city I suppose, and make it part of the experience. Some might find the rooms a bit small.

Lovely staff, stylish rooms and comfortable bed and pillows, great location in the old town of Bilbao with easy access to public transport, sites, restuarants, shops, cafes etc.

It's location in the old town means it isn't accessible by car. The only downside to that was that it made it hard to unload items and get them into the hotel and then the car had to be parked quite far away in an expensive car park. Not an issue at all if you're not travelling by car but if you are travelling by car to Bilbao, worth noting.
