Lovely hostel. Good beds with enough privacy, clean bathrooms and overall nice staff. Good air conditioner as well. Loved that they have tortilla and coffee available early in the morning and the lounge was comfortable. Also, pretty well located, just some minutes away from casco viejo and 10 minutes to the bus stop that takes to the airport. Would definitely recommend it for solo women travelers, as I felt very safe in the hostel and in bilbao.

For such a modern hostel, as a card is necessary even to catch the elevator, I do believe the laundry should take credit cards. Non europeans hardly have enough coins available, as europe is getting more and more contactless. Also, perhaps they should make the kitchen at the reception available for the guests in the morning, as the official guests kitchen is closed until 11 am for the paid breakfast. However, those are indeed small things, as overall the hostel exceeded expectations.

Brand new (or seems so as of Nov 2024), clean, stylish, but also thought through - comfy quiet beds, great spacious bathroom with excellent modern fixtures (though a bit more storage space in the shower might be good), decent kitchen (though it's hard to access it inthe mornings). Friendly efficient staff! Handily located triangulated between (and within walkin distance to) all the main areas of the city 30 sec from the nearest metro.

Am struggling to think of anything bad, but in a way of a friendly suggestion, would be nice to have some more hooks/shelves in the showers and some way of allowing people to use the kitchen (or at least access their food stored in the fridge) in the mornings (currently not possible to access the kitchen till 11am if you have not booked a breakfast - the card lock is time-programmed).

During my long-term stay, I had the joy of experiencing everything from the laundry room to the cozy common area where social events and spontaneous friendships flourish. As someone from the hospitality world myself, I couldn’t help but admire the team, both reception and housekeeping, for their attentiveness, patience, and genuine care. Whether it's helping a guest fresh off a long journey or pointing out the best pintxos spots, they do it all with a smile. I stayed in both a twin room and a six-bed dorm, and both were clean, cosy, and surprisingly quiet. The little balcony overlooking the plaza? A dream spot for morning coffee or just pretending you’re in a movie montage. The location is also unbeatable — walking distance to everything (yes, even with post-Camino legs), and right by the metro and bus stations. The best part? You're just a short stroll from the old town, but far enough to avoid the tourist rush hour. Special shout-out to the bar and its budget-friendly finger food and beer deals, because nothing says “perfect evening” like a chilled drink and lovely snacks after a long day exploring. A huge heartfelt thanks to the lovely Lamya and Daniel (and my friend from central/south America? the girl with fringe & super cool style!) for going above and beyond — helping with luggage, welcoming me back like an old friend after my Santander adventures, and making my memory in Bilbao extra special. The location was amazing - super close to the old town, shops, loads of bars and restaurants, not far from the Guggenheim either. There was a metro stop across the street too. The staff were super nice and the Friday karaoke was the best! I had a lot of fun. The rooms were secure and very clean too, although I was sad I didn't get one of the rooms with the juliette balcony looking onto the street.

The only common area I used was the bar/cafe downstairs, and I felt like there wasn't a huge atmosphere of mixing with other people in the hostel - which is not really Latroupe's fault. It was just different to what I normally experience in hostels, as it's usually very easy to meet others.

The location was great but for me the rooms were excellent. Simple, spacious, very clean & most importantly a comfortable bed. The comfortable bed is an area most hostels struggle to add value, matress is too hard, or the sheets are wafer thin, etc. My experience was the total opposite here, the bed was spacious for a bunk, the mattress was very comfortable & the bedding was great quality.

I ordered a pizza from the bar, however, when it arrived it was overcooked!! I would have sent it back but I was in a rush. I definitely would not order another. This was the only problem I encountered whilst staying there.

Very friendly hostel, great staff, served pizza and beer. The hostel is right next to the metro, buses and tram so getting around was easy. The dorm bunks had curtains for privacy which was a bonus and they were relatively big. The rooms are also air-conditioned.

Other guests in the dorm room, noise, snoring and just generally not following normal hostel etiquette. If I snored like that I would not book into a dorm room. Also the music in the bar was a little too loud so chilling out was a little difficult.

Unbeatable location. Comfortable bed. I am 63 years old and didn't like the thought of being assigned an upper bed. But I grew to love it after the first night and stayed there for another 3 nights although I was allowed to move to a floor level bed. The upper bed makes no noise when you move around. And it is very quiet whereas there are noisy storage drawers being opened / closed below the floor level beds.

I like having my meals from breakfast onward in a kitchen. But the kitchen at La Troupe only opens from 11am. As I use premixed coffee packets, the front desk / bar kindly offered a cup of hot water each morning.

A well-thought-out hostel, everything seems to work better than in most hostels I've stayed in. The dorm rooms don't feel too cramped by thoughtful choices like including two separate toilets and two separate showers. The presence of both a social common space with music and activities on the bottom floor and a more work-conducive common space on the top floor is a great feature. Cherry on the top: great price, and perfect location. Congratulations to the planners, managers, and staff!

The elevators are a bit slow. The dorm room got too hot one night, but that was mitigated by opening the window wide open. Frankly, this is nitpicking given the overall great experience.

The rooms were very good, curtains and comfy beds. Clean and nice bathrooms as well. Staff were generally very helpful and understanding (especially the curly haired lady and manager)

Kitchen wasn't very big, fridge was a big issue and worried it wasn't actually keeping the food cold. Also had an issue with not being allowed to use the kitchen and facilities during the breakfast sessions, which cost an additional €8/9 each day! Could be easily improved by getting a larger, standing fridge, allowing guests to use the kitchen during breakfast, and maybe getting another hob if they could! Also please keep the big mugs out and available to use all the time!

the beds and mattresses are very comfortable, The reception and hosting area, paid bar and snack area, are very nice. The building seems it's been renovated recently, it is still nice and comfortable, Security is good, you need your card for the elevators or your door key to work. Employees are very helpful and informative. When tours were not available, due to the shoulder season, they recommended a way to visit the sights by myself by bus.

The lobby area is very nice, but it is not inviting. They have some events going on every day, but the lay out and ambience was not inviting. I went to the events the three nights I was there, and there were not than many people,\. The kitchen is closed up till 11.00 when they finished their paid breakfast service. They should have an area where customers can heat, cook and have dinner when they have their paid breakfast at the upper area on floor 6.
