The location is excellent, check out time is very generous.

The price of the breakfast (EUR18 pp) is a bit ridiculous, considering the basic selection and the price of the food all around Bilbao, in pintxos bars, coffee shops etc. It would fit some people's needs, who like to fill up their plate with everything they can take, but for us, who is fine with a decent portion of scrambled eggs, was a bit pricey. It was delicious though, but we went for breakfast elsewhere on the following days.

Cheaper parking for motorcycles. 25 euro's a night which is the same as a car is daylight robbery. A motorcycle takes up less than half the space of a car & should be charged accordingly. 10 or 12 euro's per night would be a realistic amount.

Perfectly situated in the center of Bilbao, a VERY short walk from shopping, restaurants, the river and the old city. Very clean hotel with helpful staff, beautiful lobby, a bar with a comfortable area to sit, relax, watch a football ⚽️ match. Michelin restaurant adjacent to the hotel. Our room was large, clean, with a very comfortable bed, ample sized toilet with a warm, comfortable shower. Where this place REALLY pleased us is we arrived at 9 am ... very tired and in need of organizing our luggage ... fully expecting to leave our belongings in the luggage room until our room was ready in the afternoon. AMAZINGLY, she found an available room for us which was a VERY pleasant surprise and MOST appreciated. We were able to rest, clean up and organize our clothes and toiletries.

It’s clean and modern and in a really great location. We’ve stayed here several times now and so it has become familiar and easy. It is comfortable all round and the staff are very helpful. Lots of good cafés, bars and restaurants plus a very buzzy pedestrian street a short walk away.

It’s a little tricky to find if you’re driving but the underground garage is fine. (Extra charge) It is undergoing some upgrading at the moment although we didn’t notice much disruption. One point we weren’t too happy about — previously when we’ve stayed you could order an ‘express breakfast’, basically a coffee and pastry or roll at the bar but they don’t seem to do that any more. Pity. (It seems the bar doesn’t open until later in the morning at present, I have no idea if this is permanent or not.)

Room was a decent size, cleaned daily and plenty of complementary toiletries. Location was close to the River and a 10/15 minute walk to the heart of the old town (7 calles) and the same to the guggenheim. Breakfast was also good, lots of fresh fruit constantly replenished, too. You can also request a freshly made omelette or scrambled eggs but we didn't see the little signs explaining that until near the end of our stay unfortunately.

The pillows in the room were hard and were just one long bolster pillow on each side of the bed. There were spare pillows in the wardrobe but these were like large square cushions and not easy to keep on top of the bolster pillow. There is a kettle in the room but some days no replenishment of milk or teabag's so not ideal given there was a kettle supplied. The room was also quite warm even though it wasn't that hot outside most days. We enquired about aircon as there is a unit installed in the room. We were told it is still winter (2nd May) so no aircon would be available and also controlled centrally too. There is a window which opens but it is to the main street and quite noisy. The pillows and the room temperature made it not too comfortable to sleep.

- sink faucet would be perfect for washing dishes but too high for washing face in a bathroom - reception desk never answered me in advance if parking was available in the area and how to reach the parking during the booking so I parked in external public parking called Arenal at the other side of the river. Note: external parking is only 21 EUR for 15 hours at night and hotel parking is 25EUR per night...so too overprized hotel parking....

We highly recommend Hotel Abando, This hotel in the New town, unbelievable great location, easy walk to all famous places, shopping and restaurants. When you walk out the hotel, turn left you got all sorts of stores, cafes and restaurants, the staff are friendly and provide excellent services, good size room, great shower and excellent quality of toiletries. Bilbao is a perfect town to stroll around, full of beautiful architecture historic buildings, we would love to come back and stay in the Hotel Abando again.

The room with 2 singles was spacious very clean and light. Both rooms were very clean. Kettle in room was appreciated. Staff at reception were helpful. Didn't have breakfast due to our timings. Good map provided when checked in.

The single room was very small at the end of the corridor, could not get the air con to work although was fine in the double room) Did open window which helped, but as the difference between the 2 room types was very small would have expected single room to be bit more on a parr.

The (single) room was small but good for me with modern furniture and all amenities. Everything was clean. Coffee and tea in the room. Location is great right in the modern center, with lots of restaurants bars and shops and also walking distance from the historical center.

Room soundproofing is not great, I could hear sound from the other rooms that disturb me during the night.

Receptionist was very welcoming, we arrived 1 hour before check in and we were allocated a room after a long walk on the Camino. The following morning I unknowingly left a personal item in our room upon check out and the same receptionist contacted a hotel in the following town to see if we were booked in, we were and she brought the item to this hotel for me, which I am extremely grateful for.
