The pool area (the one non-VIPs also have access to) was really nice! Good breakfast buffet with many options. Friendly and helpfull staff.

The rooftop area is not available until 17:30 (i.e. when there is sun at the rooftop) unless you're staying in a suite. This was not at all communicated when booking the room even though we reviewed information about the hotel on both Booking and the hotel's own website. Since the rooftop area is heavily promoted through the photos (it's even the main photo on Booking) there should be information about this for all room categories that don't have access to the rooftop before sunset.

Very pleasant staff and made to feel very welcome. The room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. The selection was very good and the food replenished regularly. A very relaxed atmosphere. The facilities were also excellent although the rooftop pool was only available to the more "upper class" resident as we only found out later in our stay. The pool area was excellently maintained and the pool was fantastic for a cool off. No chlorine meant no stinging eyes but the pool was spotless. BIG shout out to the 'lifeguard' who was dressed all in white - he walked the area constantly making sure everyone was comfortable with towels, shade, etc. He was very attentive - more so than his colleague(s) on the days he was not working. The hotel location was a little bit out of the way although there are a couple of decent eateries within a 5 minute walk. The old town is a 40 minute walk in one direction and the beach a 15 minute walk in the other. The beach itself (Playa de las Alcaravaneras) overlooked the container port and was not the cleanest. If you want a better beach you need to walk 40 minutes (or take a taxi) to Playa de las Canteras. The beach is cleaner and longer and there is more life in terms of bars, restaurants (and hotels).

The bar service at the pool could have been a little better. It was a bit hit and miss as to the level of service you got. Some days you got nuts and crisps with your drink, others you just got your drinks. Some days you got offered to have your drinks delivered to your sun-lounger, others you were left to carry them yourself. All sounds a bit picky but consistency would have prevented a few awkward 'requests' or expectations. Whilst the bedroom was spotlessly clean and comfortable it could have done with a bit more wardrobe space (or more drawers) and oddly the dressing table had no mirror, so you may want to take your own (for those intent on putting on their make-up).

The rooms are excellent, particularly the bathroom. Double basins, private toilet, and Gold Medal winner!: the shower. We had a balcony room; well worth the extra cost. The breakfast buffet is excellent. 1890 restaurant is very good for dinner. Both have large outdoor terraces, lovely in fine weather as it was when we stayed. The outdoor pool and lounging area is marvellous, and very well managed, with towels provided, and showers. The hotel is in the middle of a park, which gives it a great sense of calm and exclusivity. But all areas of Las Palmas are within easy reach by taxi or by foot.

Be careful in the pool! It is saltwater, which is lovely, but take care getting in and out, as the pool has dark, sharp edges, which can spring an unwelcome surprise. Also, dry your feet or put on flip flops to walk back to your recliner - the paving slabs are very slippery when wet.

Great location. Rooms with balconies, beds are extremely comfortable, bedding is high end. Rooftop bar, club and pool on the 5th floor. Great wellness facilities, 24hr Gym. I was impressed.. they also had TRX wall mounts. A few of them, outdoor boxing bag. A few cardio machines, leg machines and overall body weight machines. The gym is connected to the wellness centre where you can access the indoor swimming pool and other facilities. 3 restaurants within the hotel. Fantastic Steak and more. The service is impeccable, they treat you like royalty. It’s everything in this place. The energy, vibe, ambience and aura. Local shops 5/10 mins away. There’s a Korean restaurant 5 mins away and other facilities are 5/10 mins away by car including las canteras shopping mall which I’d say is around 12 mins drive. The hotel literally has everything you need and more. Everything is high end. The staff really add the fine touch. Always smiling no matter how busy or long there shift is. You notice they give it there all. I did hear some saying there is loud music especially on weekends so I took the 2nd floor. Tbh I didn’t hear anything unless I opened my balcony door. I assume for higher floors it maybe different however I was at the rooftop partying away anyway 😉. Breakfast is amazing. They can cater for practically everything. I’m on a specific diet so they gave me berries and also made me an awesome smoothie. They have a great range of breakfast. The hotel surely lives up to its reputation. Different ballgame.

A beautiful hotel, very sophisticated. Just as luxury as you could expect. All the staff were so nice and service minded. Especially the man and life guard at the pool!! he was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely. The whole environment wonderful. we would love to come back.

The location is between Las Canteras beach and promenade and the old town Vegueta. So it’s not so much other things to do in the surrounding. But it is easy to take a taxi or the bus.

Nice pool, nice rooftop, lovely building & grounds, awesome shower, can walk to the old town in 30 mins. Loved the little NYE gift they gave us

Only a few small things 1) no king size bed, two twin pushed together 2) no products to use in the bath tub, the shampoo etc all stuck in those holder things in the shower 3) rooftop pool supposed to open at 10am but if you arrive a 10 people have already claimed the seats with towels and gone down for breakfast...sigh

Everything, I used to work in high quality hospitality and its exactly the same treatment as on private yachts or Ritz hotel.. Excellence ,I was very impressed 👌 sorry saying that...but it was that particular lady who walked too loud on her hills and being too loud while speaking. Lady in purple uniform. Anyway great, la cream the la cream 🔝

The purple lady🤭

Poemas restaurant was the best meal of our lives. I really enjoyed the thermal hydrotherapy circuit and our spa treatments. We came to GC specifically to come to the hotel after being inspired by Agatha Christie. Little did we know that she actually stayed at the hotel!! Everything was amazing.

The building and the story of the hotel are really impressive. The whole personal was extremely kind and always ready to help. The breakfast was nice but when you stay longer you wish there to be something new or different from time to time.

Reading the comments we thought the hotel has a top location. For our needs that was not the case. You need a car if you want to go at all somewhere, because near to you there is basically only a few restaurants..2 of them in the hotel. Beside it was quite annoying that not everyone is able to go to rooftop swimming Pool even if you are ready to pay extra for one visit. This VIP Service (also on breakfast) was kind of annoying for us because it felt like we are a second class guests. To pay for five stars hotel & deluxe room and than to have to pay even more for some basics like access to a „special“ swimming pool or to warm pool and sauna is kind of strange for me. That’s why even after our good experience at the hotel, next time we will book another one. For us it was not worth it.

Wonderful historic hotel very near the port and equidistant from Las Canteras beach and the historic parts of Las Palmas (Vegueta and Triana). Wonderful opulent feel to all central areas, really great swimming pool, reasonably priced spa and wellness area. Very comfortable room with lovely bed and bathroom, best shower ever. Only slight quibble was that facing over a courtyard and other rooms reduced our feeling of privacy somewhat and on our first afternoon/ early evening we were disturbed a great deal by a very noisy party in the courtyard.
