Everything!!! Arriving at the entrance you are greeted a smiling young {Juan) who kindly checks me in and advises to go to the reservation desk on the 6th floor. Check in was very simple and gentleman was kind and very soft spoken. My beautiful room was upgraded to a suite and my luggage was delivered to my room. A snack was delivered to my room and I when I returned from dinner turn down service had open my bed and left me a box of chocolates. I’ve stayed here before and when I’m in Spain I will always stay in this hotel. The food and service is outstanding. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

The hotel was at the very central and convenient location, with professional staff, some of them seemed lacking welcoming personality, like the girl who checked us in, but other employees we encountered, the guys at the door and the driver who took us to the airport were excellent. The room rate was quite high, but at check in we found out that we got upgraded from a regular room to a suite, which made it a little bit more reasonable and a nice touch. The restaurant was quite nice and the breakfast was great.

The bathroom was small with a bath tub and closed in toilet, which is so unnecessary. It would be much nicer to have a shower and opened up space.

This is a swanky, beautiful hotel that's equidistant from the Prado on one side and the Palace/Plaza Major on the other, so an easy 20 walk to virtually anywhere. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, from getting us a quick coffee every morning to calling for taxis (we needed large ones for our family). They also arrange the transfers to/from airport for ease. Love the chic decor, the terraces for relaxing and the beautifully appointed rooms.

We loved the location, and the staff were wonderful. Antonio at the front desk provided excellent recommendations for restaurants, and his general advice about Madrid was invaluable.

We were disappointed with our room, as we expected more of the balconies. We were also disappointed with the rooftop, as it was misrepresented on the photos. There was also no service on the rooftop.

The fact that we overheard the staff talking about their work problems while we were having lunch and some of them seemed they weren’t interested in making sure the hotel facilities were ready for the next guests while they were on their phones. Breakfast was ok.

Beautiful hotel in a great location - the beginning of the Grand Via, so the neighborhood was quiet and practically everything was a walking distance. The room was specious, clean and bright and had a nice view to the street. The staff were very polite and extremely helpful - especially the doormen Ricco & Juan. The Rooftop Terrace was lovely and inviting despite the cold, with a great view of the city. Would love to see it in the summertime.

I suffer from a bad back condition which made it difficult to enjoy the extremely soft bed. My partner, on the other hand, loved it and said it was like sleeping on a cloud.

A Memorable Birthday Stay at The Principal Madrid I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Principal Madrid from January 3rd to 6th for my birthday celebration with my spouse. The experience was nothing short of delightful, and I couldn't have asked for a better way to mark my special day. From the moment we checked in, the hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional. As a thoughtful gesture for my birthday, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that our room had been upgraded. To add to the celebration, a chilled bottle of Cava awaited us in an ice-filled bucket, creating the perfect atmosphere for a festive start. The surprises didn't end there – the room was adorned with Artisan chocolates, a thoughtful gift that added a sweet touch to our stay. Additionally, the hotel generously gifted me a massage experience, allowing for some much-needed relaxation and pampering on my birthday. On the morning of my birthday, the hotel continued to shower us with kindness. A delicious cake was delivered to our room for breakfast, accompanied by a candle to mark the occasion. The staff even took the time to join in and sing while I made a wish and blew out the candle, making the moment truly special. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mr. Jose Carlos at the hotel reception, whose exceptional service greatly contributed to the overall positive experience during my stay at The Principal Madrid. His good energy, politeness, and evident competence in his role truly stood out. Mr. Jose Carlos went above and beyond to make our check-in seamless and welcoming, setting a positive tone for the rest of our stay. His professionalism and friendly demeanor made us feel genuinely valued as guests. The hotel's central location proved to be incredibly convenient, allowing us easy access to various attractions and landmarks in Madrid. The breakfast buffet exceeded our expectations.

The room was very spacious (we had three people stay in this room). The receptions staff were extremely helpful. The beds are sooooo comfy. The hotel's location is very good. I highly recommend the terrace for a drink as the view is great!

The food menu available at The Terrace could be better.....not enough jamon! Cold boards would be a real plus...
