Very beautiful hotel and a nice pool

Second time we stayed here on way to airport. Receptionist was much more approachable and helpful this time. Arranged our transport and a good breakfast for an early departure. Rooms were clean with good facilities.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a wonderful experience! The rooftop restaurant is perfectly located, offering great views and a relaxing ambiance. The coffee was excellent, and the breakfast was delicious with a good variety. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. A special mention to Geeth at reception—he was so kind and always smiling. He went above and beyond to help me find some great places to visit in Sri Lanka. Every time I visited the reception area, I was warmly welcomed, making me feel truly at home. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable stay with exceptional hospitality!

I had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel. Upon arrival, we faced an unfortunate situation where our wallet and passports were left behind in the taxi. Despite not having any payment ready, the hotel staff were incredibly understanding and allowed us to check in without any issues. They saw that we were women traveling with a child and kindly made an exception, which we truly appreciated. The room itself had a beautiful view of the Lotus Tower, which was a pleasant surprise. The location of the hotel was also perfect, as taxis and autos were easily available in the area, making it convenient to explore the city. It was also within walking distance to many well-rated restaurants and popular sightseeing spots in Colombo, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its excellent service, convenient location, and stunning views.

We agonised over the budget Colombo alternatives before booking City Hotel Colombo 02, based mainly on reviews on this site. The almost-all-positive comments were, thankfully, exactly right. First, the location. The two main tourist areas in Colombo are at opposite ends of the town, so, one way or another, you are going to have to catch a bus or tuk-tuk. The overcrowded Pettah/Floating Market area has quite a few hotels with discouraging reviews, and there is virtually nothing in budget range around Independence Square, so our choice was in the centre.... central enough, in fact, to stroll to either end (if you don't mind a forty-five minute walk), and easily accessible to both, via Bus 138, which comes along at the rate of one every minute and costs around 35 rupees either way. The hotel is in an alley near the main street, and looks, from the outside, somewhat unprepossessing. Don't be turned off; inside, it is so well-turned-out and well-run that you quickly realise that. for the price, you are getting exceptional value for money. You can save even more because there are three major supermarket chains around a block from the hotel. Our room was impeccably maintained and fully equipped (TV, etc). The staff are friendly and attentive. The surrounding streets are quiet and orderly, and within a few minutes' walk you are in the blue-ribbon area of the city (the Prime Minister's Residence, for instance), and seemingly a world away from the chaos around Pettah and the Fort. Highly recommended!

Very warm welcome with welcome drinks. Staff escorted us to our rooms and showed us the facilities. Bagged was brought to our room. The Hotel Manager, Suresh, was such a humble person and attended to our every need without question. He deserves an accolade for customer services. The breakfast was good. The DJ, Lehru, was the highlight of our stay. He played the finest music videos for the 3 nights we spent there. The rest of the hotel staff were also also very warm. A big thank you to Hotel Colombo 2 for making our stay memorable.

Decent property, with good location.

The staff could have converse in English. No restaurant, no breakfast & no room service.

The location was excellent, and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. However, the room had some drawbacks—the lighting was quite dim, with one bulb not working. We also noticed a few ants, and the door didn’t close properly. That said, it was sufficient for a one-night stay. While it’s a decent option, there is certainly room for improvement.

I recently stayed at City Hotel Colombo 02, and it was a wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and made me feel at home. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-maintained, with very comfortable mattresses and beds that ensured a great night’s sleep. A special mention to the front office team – they were exceptionally nice and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile. Overall, a great stay, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Colombo!
