The hotel itself is located very conveniently, only a few minutes walk from the nearby train station, which is only 2 stations away from Luzern HB. The room is rather compact but fully equipped with high quality furnitures. The first floor has a public terrace with view of Mount Pilatus, which is a nice area to relax on a good weather. The breakfast is included and it was a pretty decent buffet with various choices of bread, cheese, cold meat. In general we enjoyed our stay in the lovely hotel.

The room we had was directly facing the main road, which can be quite busy during the day. Even though the windows could damp the noise fairly much, you can still hear the traffic clearly. Nontheless, we had no problem resting at the place, be aware if you are sensitive to sound.

The staff is very nice and very accommodating. The room was large and comfortable. We had a rental car and having free parking was a plus.

There was no elevator to the room we were assigned in. We had to carry our large suitcases to 3 different stairs. Don't get me wrong, there is an elevator. However, our room was located where there's no elevator access and we had to go up and down 3-4 different short stairways

The staff was amazing. So helpful and friendly. We wanted to do more touring on the day we were leaving, and they kept our bags until late in the afternoon. We had dinner the night we arrived. Same staff, they work so much and so hard and yet still some of the friendliest service we have ever had (I am in the hospitality industry in the US) and these people are top notch! If you are there when they have pumpkin soup available, you have to get it, one of the best soups I have ever had!!!

This is such a hidden germ! The room we stayed in was fully renovated, with a nice balcony and a great view of the mountains. In general, we really appreciated the hospitality — the staff were very kind and welcoming and there were thoughtful touches like free coffee and water carafes in the communal area, as well as an “honesty bar.” After a long day of discovering beautiful Lucerne and its surroundings, you can try local beers in the garden under the shade of the trees (which seem to be frequented by locals as well.) The location is perfect as it’s very close to the city center (direct bus line, train stop 5 min walk away) but also gives easier access to Alpnachstad/mountains. We hope to be back!

Free secure parking was excellent and the property was easy to find. The staff were very helpful and when we had an issue with our first room, the room was changed without question. The rooms were modern, clean and well decorated. The breakfast was of a high standard and you could eat in or outside. We ate outside in the hotel at night and the food was of a good standard. The location was outside the centre, which could be a problem to some. All I would say is that the staff told us to take the no. 20 bus outside the hotel (as it is one route in and out), which took us to the bus station right in the heart of the city. We just paid by card on the bus. Getting back was just as easy, as we went back to the bus station and got the no. 20 straight back to the hotel - a great bus service.

Good breakfast, comfortable beds, quiet room with good views and balcony in a nice area. We took the train to Kries-Mattenhof and it was an easy and pleasant walk to the Gasthaus. Option to have dinner there also. Easy bus ride into Luzern from nearby. Better value for money than places in Luzern if you don't mind a bit of extra travel. Hotel lent us umbrellas because it was pouring with rain. Across the road there are several walks in a wooded area.

Nothing much nearby so you do have to go into Luzern for most things. No coffee maker in the room. There is a coffee machine and tea available in the lobby but it was not working on Sunday afternoon however staff made us a cup of tea to take to the room.

The hotel provides visitor card, but it does not cover Lucerne city transport (even though the hotel is still within Zone 10). We did not reconfirm this with the hotel in advance, causing a bit of confusion about transportation at first. Fortunately, the bus ticket machine offers day ticket for local transport.

Gasthaus zur Waldegg is a lovely hotel. Spotlessly clean and spacious. Very friendly welcoming staff. Extremely comfortable room and great breakfast with lots of choices. We also had an evening meal there which was delicious. Very close to the bus stop (20) to go into town or to the lakeside swimming area in the other direction. Also a ten minute walk from the train station. Would highly recommend it.

The breakfast was wonderful, bed was very comfortable, and the air conditioning worked very well. Close walk to the bus to get to and from the train station. Area felt safe and was quiet. Also, several restaurants within walking distance.

Only two large towels in room upon arrival but I was able to get another one. I never did figure out how to use the coffee machine that was available for guest use after breakfast hours, but I also never asked anyone to show me how to use it.

We booked this on the same day as we were scammed by the original hotel/apartment that we booked. The place is nice, the room is big, the staff are very accommodating, the breakfast is superb! The bath tub was my daughter's favourite!

There is no lift to our room. We need to use stairs to go up to our room. The aircon is not as cold, but good enough.
