Really good location, right on the square next to the abbey and the old town. Took about 10 mins to walk from the train station. We stayed here on two separate occasions while in St Gallen - the first time we were in the main building, the second time we were in the annex building, but both are quite close to each other. There was also the option to self-check in if we were arriving later than the specified check-in time, which we did once. But that meant having to swipe on an internet page to open the front door & room remotely - useful or not, depending on your perspective!

Rooms were not particularly big - narrow stairs and small lift means it's a bit tight if you have a lot of luggage. Limited luggage storage space too.

A perfect location in the heart of the old town. The reception staff were friendly and this little hotel had everything I needed for a 3 night stay in St gallen. My airy, double room faced an inner courtyard and was so peaceful. I had air con and two big windows that opened fully. It was very clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. There are facilities to help yourself to tea and coffee etc on the ground floor with a lovely terrace to sit outside. I didn’t have breakfast in the hotel as I like to wander and find a cafe - there’s an excellent one just around the corner on the square overlooking the Abbey. You are minutes walk from so many things, including the funicular railway up to the lakes where you can have a swim. I would definitely stay here again.

Just a note that to leave your bags they need to fit in a locker and you need a 2CHF coin to operate it and take the key. Not a problem for me …I just went to the cafe in the square with my bag and had a cold beer to get some change!

I stayed in this location two separate times on this trip, once alone and the second time with fellow travelers. It is ideally located in the Aldstadt near the Abbey. I chose the beautiful corner room in the Dependence building for my first stay (there are two corner rooms, the lower floor has more windows if that is a draw for you as it was for me). It was exquisite and worth the extra francs. I especially enjoyed being able to see the city Christmas lights from a 180 degree angle. The room was spacious with comfortable extra seating. There was a nice mini fridge and coffee maker in the room as well. The bed was very relaxing and the bathroom roomy and well equipped. Check in was limited in time from 4-6 but the staff was prompt & courteous. They have two sets of luggage lockers in the check-in building for 2chf (refundable) for early arrivals. Lockers are large enough to accommodate a 23" suitcase with a bit of room to spare. My second stay was also in the Dependence building but I wanted my friends to enjoy the two corner rooms so I chose a smaller one which was still extremely comfortable. (Property photos are very accurate.) We did not partake of the breakfast at the hotel, choosing instead to eat in a Conditerei just around the corner. We were in Switzerland for the Christmas markets; chose St. Gallen as an overnight stop on our journey. I would not go to St. Gallen for its Christmas market, though the Aldstadt had beautifully decorated streets and store windows that were magical and convenient to explore.

We had a perfect stay!

Excellent position in the <old town> and very close (150m) to the underground parking on the <Oberer Graben> street. Very helpfull and polite staff. Big and very cleen rooms and baths

Check inn through the <tablet system> was finally impossible and the front desk lady did it manualy (thank you but we have to cut many of the electronic-bulshit that makes our lives finally much worse!!!) The price was too high but considering that the place is in the center and we are talking about Switzerland i guess its ok.

The location was excellent. The rooms were clean and adequately equipped.

I booked 3 rooms for myself and 2 daughters and their partners. My daughter’s rooms were a good size but ours (304) was small with a sink in the room and a very small shower. No tea and coffee facilities in the room but we just thought on the way home that perhaps we were allowed to use the facilities at the end of the corridor but nobody informed us of them?

Excellently appointed bathroom & linens, charmingly renovated room in an old house, amenities provided were thoughtful (tea, coffee, etc.)

Although warned that the hotel offered rooms away from its main building, they (the rooms), while close, were not so easy to identify and thus find. At first, I was shown a map, not given one, so had to return to Rezeption to clarify and, this time, to take a (laminated) copy of the map with me to assure success. House number turns out NOT to be directly adjacent to the door, part of the difficulty in recognizing the connection.

Breakfast excellent- plenty of choice. Room excellent.

Complete lack of effective communication before we arrived - we were told we would be staying in an annex and that as many of staff had left as hotel would be closing at end of September there would be no actual staff on reception on certain days. In fact there was a member of staff on reception desk when we checked in and we were allocated a room in main hotel building

Apartment Dependence location was excellent, right in the heart of the old town around the corner from the Abbey. Very spacious apartment: 3 bedrooms plus an extra bed in a small sleeping area meant we all had our own space. Big modern bathroom, great water pressure, kitchen well equipped. Secure and safe with direct lift access using a key. Beds were very comfortable.

Lounge was uncomfortable and only big enough for 4 people when the apartment sleeps up to 6 people. Pls buy a new lounge!

The studio was spotless, well equipped, in a really good location from where I could navigate the town and what it had to offer. The staff on reception were extremely helpful and went out of their way to be welcoming. I met the cleaners one morning who were super kind.

I loved everything!

Great central location. Room clean and comfortable. Staff helpful. Coffee facilities good though area very small with limited seating. If I return to St Gallen would definitely stay at this hotel again.

On one night it was rather noisy from revellers in street below my window.
