Location: The hotel offers convenient access via an air-conditioned underground pathway, about 5-minute walk to the Metro and about 8 minutes to HSR station using the Y5 exit gateway. This pathway includes shops for added convenience and direct access to Q Square Mall. Shopping mall: A stone's throws from hotel door (exit, turns right) is Q Square, a new shopping mall connected to the same underground pathway. We used the mall's lift for luggage transportation, avoiding stairs (at Y5 exit gateway). The mentioned mall's lift (we were at the mall, 10:30am) is at the other end of Q Square's main entrance, on the left. Exiting from the lift, we followed the sign to exit the mall to Y5 gateway. Deluxe Family Room: The Deluxe Family Room is spacious and comfortable, equipped with amenities such as a bathtub, a Japanese toilet bidet, an AI system that controls room lighting (we enjoyed and also used it to enquire weather conditions, setup wakeup call, information about breakfast options etc.). The room also offers a selection of great-tasting tea and coffee in package. The corridor from the lift to the room is heavily carpeted, ensuring quiet movement of luggage. P.S. We like the decor/setting of the room, the cozy and feel of bed, texture and color of bathrooms' tiles. Check-in/out: I like the fact the check-in/out at another floor levels, separate from the ground floor. There was staff standby guiding arrival of guest(s) to the queue/counter (love the system they put it in place). The level is beautifully decorated, and seats offer for other guests to rest. Staff: The hotel staff are professional, approachable, thoughtful and friendly. Sparkling Water Room (A beautiful, decorated room with a theme): Along the corridor of the rooms, there is a unique feature—a sparkling water machine (registered brand). We used this machine to fill hotel provided glass bottle with either sparkling, cold water or normal room temperature.

What a stunning property from stained mirrors to the hand carved wooden horses to the lush carpets in their halls. Been such a pleasure to call this home for 5 days under the attentive care of Mike our concierge who told us to check out the best hidden local gem right around the corner for breakfast -Sihai. Thank you for making our honeymoon so special Mike and team. The hotel is very central and in a tremendously convenient location right in the same building with the bus station, q mall and Taipei Main Train station. The Airport line Literally stops you opposite the hotel although the navigation out of the Airport line is somewhat of a maze when you first arrive. Top Tip: Find the exit you want on the local train and follow the signboards right to your exit.

We like the location and the staff were great but for a 5 stars hotel, we expected a coffee machine in the room, offer of amenities even if they were not available in the rooms The room had only one night table and nothing on the other side. We would have liked to have a shower room separated We were very disappointing in tour so called 3 stars Michelin restaurant. One of the dishes we ordered was braised chicken and we were very surprised to get chicken with skin on it and bones and so little chicken. We have been to many Michelin restaurants and for 3 stars we expected something But overall we loved the hotel and the location

Fantastic hotel with massive rooms and a ballroom of a bathroom!! We had a beautiful massive round bath which was wonderful to chill down in after a long day in the humidity. Everything was of the best quality and the beds comfy and the most amazing toilet and huge walk in shower with mega views. Perfect location as the train station is literally across the road yet the rooms were super quiet, no noise at all. The complementary tea was fantastic- wish I’d asked where I could get some to take home!!

The lighting- sounds silly but they have a ultra modern lighting system that was thought up by a chimp. Trying to turn a bedside light on without lighting up the whole room was not a happening thing. It had a voice control you could also use but it couldn’t understand how to just turn on one set of lights without all the others and in the end we turned it off from annoyance and used an iPhone if we needed to get up at night so as not to wake the other up!!

I really enjoyed my stay at Palais de Chine; I was offered an ice-cold slushy at check-in, which was a very much welcome respite from the Taipei summer heat. Palais de Chine is conveniently located next to Taipei Main station, giving easy access to the rest of Taipei; it’s also surrounded by some interesting neighbourhoods like Dadaocheng, the oldest neighbourhood in Taipei and Ximen, which is reminiscent of Sinjuku in Tokyo. I found the hotel to be the perfect balance of old-school luxury and modernity, and I enjoyed the decor, with added details like having an AI-assisted room. The breakfast was amazing and probably deserves its own review, but it had a wide choice of East and West, with some classic Taiwanese favourites. I would highly recommend staying at the Palais de Chine. The staff were also ultra friendly. A special shout-out to Cyndi Huang, who was super helpful and friendly during check-in.

I have stayed at many hotels. Palais de Chine Hotel Taipei was exceptional. It's 6 star service. Cyndie was fantastic. I was given a welcome fruit platter on arrival. She found out it was my birthday in 3 weeks time and arranged a small gift (decorated dessert platter) to my room during my stay and a takeaway breakfast because of my super early departure on my last day. Love the environmentally friendly glass water bottle use instead of the plastic bottles and sparkling water dispensing machine. The VIP executive lounge has great selection of beverage with relaxing area and classically decorated.

Staying here in the holiday season you're guaranteed a very Christmasy experience, from the decked out trees at the entrance and the reception to the green and red light bulbs of the chandeliers. The hotel is decorated like a Parisian boudoir with half of the lights dimmed to a flicker. The room on the executive floor is well appointed and access to the lounge is a plus. The hotel is next to a shopping mall and close to the metro. The breakfast is well stocked with Asian food.

The lighting or rather lack of it. I think this point has been made by other reviewers so it was hardly a surprise but it really is VERY dark. Even if you turn on all the lights in your room, it is still surprisingly quite "atmospheric". If you prefer well lit and bright, this hotel is not for you. But if you're up for some mood lighting, you'll love it. Note: even the breakfast room is dark! :)

The staff at Palais de Chine are so lovely! Especially Victor! The rooms were super clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a great walking location near 2 MRT lines, rail, buses and tours and QSquare shopping mall. Breaky was super fantastic! Not too far to Nowhere bar and a smaller Night Market (Ningxia) is in walking distance too (20mins).

Charging points beside the bed would be really great! The hotel is designed to be like inside a castle so the darkness wasn’t a problem for us. There is a pool available for guests but it is quite a distance and is charged at 400NT.

Booked the hotel mainly for its location and breakfast. Location was great. Breakfast had much variety: salads were very fresh. The staff were very courteous and also called to inform when UberEats arrived (though they don’t deliver this to your room: you need to collect it yourself).

Breakfast pastries need work. The hotel’s bathroom configuration (if you have a room with the circular bathtub by the door is super inconvenient since the only place to change clothes with a curtain is inside the bathtub itself; was able to change to a corner room with curtain covering the whole bathroom which had space to change clothes: this was much better as I was travelling with my Dad). The lighting is hard to understand to control: there is no simple switch for which particular sets of lights. Corridors were very hot and stuffy. The dark lighting and atmosphere of the hotel.

Location is perfect, right across from Taipei Main Station so you have easy access to all MRT lines, high speed rail, and many busses. It is also walking distance to several excellent coffee shops and shopping areas. The property itself is beautiful and staff are helpful and accommodating. Rooms are beautiful, quiet, and comfortable. I also appreciated the sustainability efforts. Extra amenities are still available, but on request. Newspapers are provided as digital downloads. Toiletries are in refillable pump bottles (they smell amazing, by the way). And filtered water comes in refillable glass bottles instead of disposable plastic (these can be refilled by housekeeping and/or from the "Sparkling Room" on each floor that provides cold, room temperature, and sparkling water). As other reviews have mentioned, the lighting is quite dim, but I actually liked this as it felt peaceful. Plus, the room had several full length mirrors, including one by the window, so I just did my makeup by natural light instead.

Overall my stay was pleasant, but I can really see why the dim lighting and many switches are bothersome to others, though they didnt really bother me. What I couldn't get past was that the whole bathroom area had automatic motion sensor lights. The room is open plan, so if you get up at night to use the bathroom, anyone sharing your room could be woken up by the light as well. I'm a light sleeper and found this really disruptive and frustrating.
