We would strongly recommend Chern if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Bangkok. In fact, we ended up staying twice on our trip and we were very pleased to be returning to it. The hotel is well located, the rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable. However, the highlight for us was the pool which offered welcome respite from the intense Bangkok heat.

The fact you have to pay a 500 Bhat deposit for a room key is something we found very frustrating, particularly at the end of the trip when we did not want to withdraw more cash to cover the cost of this. It feels excessive to pay a fee for a plastic room card and it was annoying have to share one room key between 4 people.

We were absolutely delighted with this accommodation that calls itself a 'boutique hostel'. We arrived early and they kindly stored our bags and after we had been out to orientate and see some local sights (it is so close to Wat Suthat Thepwararam) allowed us to use the facilities which meant we got our washing done before we had even checked in! The room was huge and comfortable and they quickly provided us with extra pillows when we asked. We didn't want our room cleaned/towels changed so they left our fresh water for us and changed our bin when we left it outside, it's great to be allowed to try and be as eco as possible as a traveller. The pool is lovely and a perfect way to cool after sightseeing. The area is fantastic, an easy walk to the Grand Palace (if you are stopped by a helpful local telling you it is closed smile and keep walking, it is a common scam), 10 minutes to the MRT and about that to the canal taxi too. We didn't use them but there were always taxis waiting outside the hotel, and there are plenty of shops to pick up what you need. We also found a couple of great cafes nearby in the direction of the Grand Palace, Corner 144 and The Knight House, really lovely places for breakfast/coffee. The hotel does provide a very good value simple breakfast and we believe food until lunchtime but didn't find out more about that. There is a basic food and drink vending machine. The hostel aspect means there's a common space on the first floor with darts, beanbags, a large table and books. There are self serve washing facilities on the ground floor as well as a kettle and a microwave which helped us keep on top of our budget, but otherwise consider this a really good hotel. Can't believe the value for money, will use again if we are ever lucky enough to visit this amazing city.

This is being picky! We did get ants when we left opened food, but we easily solved that. If you are on the ground floor the balcony is too small to sit out on.

This was a really great choice for 3 nights in BKK. The location is very practical, walking distance to many sights, there are many restaurants and bars a couple of minutes away, also one Seven Eleven store. Overall, the hotel is very calm and quiet, a little oasis in the busy city. The swimming pool was wonderful, very refreshing and large enough for a good swim. The hotel is very stylish, loved the huge front doors in the lobby. We had a large balcony, that we used a lot. Comfortable bed. Enough sockets in the room. Teh gave us 2 small bottles of water every day. Good wifi. Nice staff. They can provide a taxi service to the airport for 450 baht. I would definitely stay here again.

Everything! Let's discuss this part by part. LOCATION: Chern is only about 45 minutes away from Suvarnabhumi airport (Grab fare was around 545B). The train (they call BTS, station is Sam Yot) is only 10-15 minutes away by foot. HOTEL AND STAFF: The common areas are kept clean, spacious, and airy. The room that we got was superb. The concierge was helpful and very friendly. They even let us, who arrived prior to our check in, to deposit our bags in the lobby, so we can have lunch without having to carry too many things. THINGS TO DO: Once there, temples are nearby. Some have walking distance while others are only 15-30 mins away. There are also a lot of Michelin-recognized restaurants around. For instance, Thipsamai is only five minutes away by foot. Khao Sana is in 1.5 kilometers while Chinatown is roughly 2 kms away. Silom, MBK and the other malls are all 15 mins away by Grab. From Sam Yot station, you can go Chatuchak by train too. All in all, Chern is ideal for those who want to have access to both culture and fun.

I've stayed at Chern last time I came to Bangkok and this time and I think I will come here every time! Its in such a perfect location - 15-20 min walk to Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Khaosan Road, Chinatown, boat pier, 10 mins from metro station so its easy to get to from the airport or the main train station Krung Thep Aphiwat, literally 2 mins away from Thip Samai (oldest pad thai place), 5 mins from Golden Mount etc. Last time I was here they were still building the pool, now it's in use and it's amazing, good size and great to cool off in after walking in the scorching heat of Bangkok! They have a washing machine and dryer so it's perfect if you need to wash your clothes for a few coins. They also provide breakfast now which is quite nice! Good aircon in the room, not too loud and no noise from the street as the hotel is tucked away from the main street. Overall I personally think its the best place to stay in Bangkok!

Can't think of anything - for the price you pay it's absolutely excellent

The staff are very helpful and friendly. The location is great! You can walk to alot of great places. There are many good food options very locally also. The rooms where very clean and they regularly clean and make the bed. The cafe on site servers a good breakfast and coffee. They are open until 2 so you could also do lunch They offer your typical Thai dishes as well as some more western food. The pool is VERY NICE. It can get a little crowded, but it's a pretty big pool with a few paddle pools and a jet top at the top end. There is a vending machine that sells snacks and beer at very reasonable prices. Overall the rooms are super spacious and clean with powerful AC. The staff are brilliant and can't be faulted. The breakfast is smashing. The showeres arw HOT and powerful. The location couldn't be better. Finally, there are some resident cats that although aren't paticularly social, they are a great source of entertainment and cuteness.

The only thing I would suggest for improvement is having a kettle in the room. But that's my only fault.

Location is good - circa 20 min walk to the Grand Palace. Room and hotel are clean. Pool was a great amenity to have as weather in Bangkok is hot. Would recommend to anyone traveling as good room for price point.

Excellent location. Easy walk to lots of attractions but more importantly for us to lots of great local streets and neighbourhoods to explore on foot. Rooms are a good size and really clean. Staff are helpful. Really interesting mix of guests - lots of families, but also lots of younger travellers staying in the hostel side of the hotel meaning my teenagers talked to lots of other young people from all over the world. It was excellent value for money and I’d absolutely stay there again.

Only real downside is the pool was often overrun by young backpackers drinking around it, meaning we didn’t get much use out of it.

The location of this hotel/hostel is ideal for exploring Bangkok. It’s a 20 minute walk to the Grand Palace. The boat for river taxi is only minutes from the Palace too. A 7-11 is about a 3 minute walk and there are lots of beautiful restaurants, bars and massage places near by. There is a cafe here that is open from 7am to 2pm. There are vending machines, washing machines and chill out areas throughout. The pool is beautiful and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and helpful too.

It can be quite noisy at night in the corridors especially with late night tourists coming home after a night out.

I recently stayed at CHERN Bangkok Hotel for six nights, and I must say, the highlight of my stay was the exceptional friendliness and hospitality of the reception and staff. Their warm and welcoming attitude truly made the experience memorable. The hotel itself boasts a great atmosphere, with a calm and clean environment. The availability of convenient facilities like a laundry service and vending machines added to the comfort.

The location is decent, though it's worth noting that shops and main shopping streets are not within immediate walking distance. You may need to take a taxi or walk a fair distance, but it's manageable. One minor downside was the absence of a coffee or tea maker in the room. Although there is a canteen, having hot water or coffee-making facilities in the room would have been a great addition.
