This was my second time back to Chiang Mai and second time stayed again at Coucou, the staff and hotel owner still remember us with warm welcome when we arrived, it just feels like going back home. I love the breakfast they made everyday, when we finish breakfast we usually stay in the pool for a bit, it was nice and refreshing before going out. The location just perfect in the center of Old Town, you can basically walk around and if too hot, we can always back to hotel again and enjoy the pool to cool down in the afternoon. Room is simple but very clean and it’s what we needed. I also love the TV which you can connect Netflix and chill in the room in the evening before bed. I look forward to going back again next time and thank you very much for your small gift and your warm hospitality.

The hotel was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The facilities were of a high standard including bed linen and toiletries. The staff couldnt have been more friendly and helpful. We found most activities within Old City were walkable from here (its about 1.5 miles square). Within a few minutes walk there are plenty of cafes and good places to have dinner. We found Lanna Square, an open air food court with entertainment, a great place to try many different meals (open at 5pm) Although the front of the hotel is on a busy road the rooms are set back and are quiet. The swimming pool on 2nd floor is a good size for cooling off but a bit small for anyone wanting to swim for exercise. Also quite a bit of traffic noise by the pool.

The room was pretty dark with just one window and no view. The only outside seating area is at the pool and a few tables at the front of the hotel

This hotel is stunning. The design fits in well with historic Chiang Mai. The building is brand new and felt great quality. The courtyard with the trees is pretty, and the pool is the best view with the temple across the road. The coffee and breakfast available in the lobby coffee shop is affordable, and the breakfast toasts were amazing! The location is also perfect, on the edge of the square, right near North Gate. The best part was the staff, the owner was always there in the mornings to chat, and everyone else throughout the day and the cleaning staff were all so helpful.

The CouCou Hotel is exceptional. The Managers went above and beyond assisting booking attractions, always welcoming, CouCou Hotel is so clean. Breakfast was amazing 😋. Laundry service quick turn around. Well done to the Owners and Staff 1st class service. We visited with 2 x teenagers 17yr and 15yrs, stayed 3 days, and should have stayed for longer in Chiang Mai. The Hotel location is great for the Old Town and Temples are close by. The night market in Chaing Mai is also just a short walk away. The pool has views over a nearby temple and is great for relaxing.

Our stay at Cou Cou Hotel was unforgettable, thanks to the exceptional staff who truly go above and beyond. From the moment we arrived, we felt so special, and their kindness shone through when they surprised my son with a thoughtful small gift for his birthday. The coffee here is hands-down the best we had in Thailand, and the breakfast was so delicious we couldn’t resist dining there twice. The hotel is spotless, with a lovely ambiance that adds to the charm. The location is unbeatable—right on the edge of the old town, within walking distance of attractions, fantastic restaurants, and the vibrant night market.

While the road noise might be an issue for light sleepers, the hotel thoughtfully provides earplugs, which helped us sleep soundly.

A stylish hotel with a good location on the edge of the old town. Nice pool and the standard of the decor is superb. The breakfast is not included but there is an in house option or a couple of really good places nearby. Obviously this bumps the price up. Worth noting that next door is an open air BBQ restaurant which currently doesn't show on google maps so there is a bit of noise from there. We weren't bothered by it but thought it worth noting. Good location for Grab taxis to pick up and drop off from.

The room has two enormous cupboard that are about 8ft in the air so impossible to use. The bed side tables are small with massive lamps on so you can't put usual stuff on them without putting the lamps on the floor nor do the bedside drawers open. Weird interior design options.

The interior is amazing. Room is cute and clean. Staffs are super friendly.

There’s no safe in the room, personally I like to keep important documents in the safe while away. I really enjoyed the stay and love the hotel, Unfortunately there’s a big bbq restaurant called Bigbig Shabu next the hotel, it’s very popular among local people, and it’s busy every evening. There’s a lot of bbq smoke, and you can smell a bit in the room when no AC on as well. This restaurant will do a lot of dish washing from midnight and it last for like 2 hours and it’s pretty noisy, they talk and laugh and you hear utensils noise. So be careful if you are a sensitive sleeper.

What an absolutely perfect stay at Coucou. I was expecting great things given the outstanding reviews I'd read, and was not disappointed. Great location on the edge of the old town (better than being inside, in my opinion), beautifully appointed rooms with high quality fittings, quiet and comfortable. As others have mentioned, the breakfast is outstanding. But the best thing is the people - it is wonderful to encounter hotel owners that clearly love hospitality, going out of their way to make you feel welcome. If returning to Chiang Mai I would book again in a heartbeat. Fabulous place.

Leaving

From the very first moment of our arrival until our departure, the level of attentiveness from the front desk team, in particular the young lady managing reception, was outstanding. The quality of the amenities in the room and offering at breakfast is befitting of a 5 star hotel. The coffee is outstanding. The pool, although small, is perfectly appointed for a lazy afternoon of relaxation or a bit of sunbathing.

It gets a little noisy late at night from a nearby restaurant..... but earplugs are provided should you need them.

The room was spotlessly clean. Electric kettle, hair dryer, mini fridge were equipped. 2 bottles of water were provided every day. Staff were excellently kind. Swimming pool was on the 2nd floor but located little separately (like half floor up from 2nd floor) so you can swim with little privacy. And the pool size was appropriate - not big but not too small like some other hotels in old town area. If I return to Chiang Mai, this will be my first option.

Only issue was the shower temperature. It was hard to set exact moderate temperature between hot and cold, but this is quite usual for most old town hotels so I didn't mind at all.
