I had a wonderful time staying at Stay North Gate Bed and Breakfast in Chiang Mai. The staff here are truly 100/10 — so welcoming, friendly, and always ready to help. What stood out to me the most was their genuine care for the guests. If there's ever an issue, they act quickly to resolve it. Their attention to detail is impressive — they notice even the small things most places would overlook. The location is also perfect, just a short walk to 7-Eleven, the night market, great restaurants, cozy cafes, and several beautiful temples. I stayed in a mixed dorm, but once I lay down in my bed, it felt like I had my own private space. The bed was large, clean, and super comfortable, with three big pillows — such a nice touch! The dorm has air conditioning running all the time, which is amazing in Thailand’s hot weather. They also offer a simple breakfast (cereal, bread, milk, coffee), and even though I only had it on my last day, I could tell the quality was good. I ended up extending my stay because I loved it so much, and I would absolutely come back here again the next time I'm in Chiang Mai.

One small suggestion: If there were a place to hang my towel by the bed, it would be perfect!

Early check-in was very much appreciated, following an early arrival of my night bus from Bangkok. This allowed me necessary sleep - I was unwell the whole stay, and I wound up sleeping most of the time. The bed was so comfortable - thick mattress and pillows, and the privacy curtain was much appreciated. The location close to the jazz club, shops, restaurants - many of which are vegan - and other amenities, was excellent. Staff was very sweet and attentive.

A few of the smaller details could be improved. For instance, where to hang our towels? (A peg on each locker could help this). There's nowhere in the bunks to put our stuff, like a side table, tray or hooks, so I had my smaller bag, toiletries, etc, at the side of the bed. The breakfast is appreciated in that it's free, but in a healthy food city like Chiang Mai, perhaps some bananas or other fruit would be a nice touch to complement the cereal and thick toast.

Good value budget option in Chiang Mai. The staff were lovely, considerate and friendly. The room was also very comfortable — the bed one of the most comfortable I've slept in for ages (I slept for 9 ½ hours straight!). The location was perfect as well. The breakfast is very basic, but it's close to lots of other places if you want something a bit less simple. But it was all exceptionally good value for money.

The wifi was painfully slow, but on the other hand, it was good to have a holiday from checking my email!

Everything is perfect to me, especially is only 3 minutes walk across the road to have my favorite coffee outlet opposite the North gate A Roon coffee, famous chicken rice, morning market famous pork steak BBQ, tuk tuk to Doi suthep, 7-11, night food market &etcs, also they provide 3 pillows on the bed, highly appreciated,I really need at least 2 pillows, this is extra bonus to me, will definitely come back to stay again.

No clothes hanging areas. Not an issue.

All here is quite nice. Especially staff!!!! P'win is bloody helpful and kind to me I came with my problem but here let me stay without care bout money.. Also bed is bloody comfy Room is bloody clean I highly recommend here I you will like it Especially the lo is perfect Just cross the road you will reach to Jazz bar If you heading down Abita you will on Sunday you will get to Sunday market the huge one Come and see

Noting to complain

Such comfy beds!!! Each bed in the dorm feels like your own little pod - room had quite big lockers and plug next to each beg. Bathrooms were clean. Wifi was pretty good and the AC was on throughout the day in the dorms too. Staff were kind and helpful, making sure we paid fair prices for transport in the town. Lovation is great - not too far from markets and close to jazz bar!

The shower pressure is a bit weird - fluctuates between really strong and hardly running but it was still all good.

Stay North Gate is a small bed and breakfast at the edge of the Old City. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and modern, we had a smart TV in the private room which was ideal so we could watch Netflix after a long day of exploring. There’s a food night market just across the river which is very convenient. The receptionist was very friendly and approachable. We thought the room was great value for money! Overall - very good for a short stay!

The property is on a busy road so it can be a little noisy due to traffic. There’s also a jazz club up the street which was quite loud (definitely worth a visit!) It didn’t stop us from getting to sleep though.

We absolutely loved our little room in Stay North Gate. So clean and cosy, perfect ensuite bathroom, great little balcony. It was literally the comfiest bed we have ever had - the extra pillows were such a great touch. There is a smart TV which is also such a great addition - if you're not into partying and just want a quiet night like us, you can access Netflix etc easily. Great location in the old town - really close to the north gate food market (cheap and delicious) and the wonderful North Gate Jazz club (would highly recommend for at least one drink). You can also refill your water, and there is a small communal kitchen downstairs which are big bonuses.

Nothing! My only suggestion would be for a tiny bit of storage space, but this isn't a big deal.

This hostel is very well located, organized and clean. Staff is very friendly! Bed is super comfy and it's amazing to have more than one pillow, it makes the night of sleep so much better.

Sometimes there were water shortage which was a bit annoying for toilet usage. Breakfast is super simple (like bread, jam, milk and oats) and per just one minute later than advertised you can't have it.

Very comfy beds, clean bathrooms, nice atmosphere, small cozy area within the room to work. Location is great to explore the old town and surrounding.

It‘s a small place, missing some more common areas. Don‘t expect much from the breakfast they include. The receptionist is moderately friendly as long as you don‘t have any extra requests.
