I’ve been coming with a group every year for many years and love the location, the pool, and layout of the Lai-Tai.

Every year seems to go downhill just a little bit. This year, problems with water in the plumbing.

Note, review is based on the property only being a modest 2 star establishment, do with that in mind it is excellent value for money. The pool is a bonus and the red jazz bar on site is also a plus. South East corner of old city do location good. A/C good, everything else functional, rooms not massive, so can't really unpack, ideal for backpackers wanting a decent bed, hot shower and a relax in a pool. Didn't try the breakfast so unable to comment. For breakfast go to the French bakery round the corner and down the road. L'opera, the guy there is a magician. Croissants, bread, pastries to die for, how he does it outside his native country I have no idea. But if you want alternative to Asian breakfast 🤮 it is 10/10.

Overall finish of bathroom fixtures and fittings but it's only 2 star. If you want something more upmarket can always pay more.

Beautiful place, construction near the end of our visit wasn't great but we get that it has to happen at some point. Pool was fantastic and we loved the options for outdoor seating. The staff was very trustworthy and the cleaners were very kind.

Lovely pool, outdoor lobby area and great location in the city. Staff were very friendly and happy to help with any problems, including accommodating my last-minute walk-in and moving my room due to flooding. Room was very comfortable and compact with daily cleaning available. Other tenants were also respectful to both each other and the staff.

Only issue was with the shower in my room; at times the cold water would not run, leaving only scorching water to shower with and no tap water, however the issue was minor and was fixed within a couple days.

The pool area is nice Keep in mind it can be noisy We’ve got the room on the other side from jazz cafe and we were fine. But being on that side would change the story

not worth the price they charge. There are plenty of hotels offering better quality for the same price. The towels were torn and stained, and the bed sheets had stains too. The rooms are very old. The corridors are full of stuff like towels and bed sheets, and it’s constantly there. Don’t get me wrong—I can accept these conditions, but the price should reflect them. Lowering it from 1000 to 500–600 would be fair.

Location was amazing, communication with staff about changing dates was very professional and they were super helpful at no extra cost! Breakfast was nice, costa extra. Free locked luggage storage which was a nice bonus. Pool was great, received plenty of sunlight and there were enough sun loungers for everyone. It was nice and clean! Free water, towels and toilet paper every day and turndown service available upon request. We had a great time and would stay again, super good value for money!

Hole in mosquito net, let many flies in and mosquitos in during night, as no windows just shutters! Quick fix with a bit of tape worked fine for us but obviously only a short term solution. Shower was good pressure but only freezing or boiling!

Hot water was a little hit and miss

Good location close to old town as well as night markets. Nice pool (quite cold in December). Private parking. Easy commnunication. Laundry service. The place is familiar to tuk-tuk drivers so convenient for local travel arrangements.

Very poor sound-proofing (earplugs are provided at the reception though). Expect to be woken up by intoxicated noisy tourists coming back to their rooms at night and/or traffic from nerby busy road.
