In principle, everything worked out fine. We have stayed with MERODDI GALATA MANSION before and would have loved to stay there again and so we booked it. The reception and small cafe at the entrance were our favourite part and so we had booked the hotel again. HOWEVER, WHEN WE ARRIVED AT THE HOTEL IN THE EVENING, THEY INFORMED US THAT, OUR HOTEL IS SOMEWHERE ELSE, AND THEY PUT US INTO "MERODDI LA PORTA". So, this review is for MERODDI LA PORTA. The breakfast is also outstanding, the staff at the breakfast is super nice and always smiling. The breakfast buffet was the best part of our stay. The rooms were equipped with a heater and an air conditioner. It was a pleasant stay, no inconveniences. There was a window in the room so you could aerate the room from time to time. It was overall a nice experience in the room.

We really expected to stay in MERODDI GALATA MANSION. As we had stayed there before and we were looking forward to spending the evenings in the cafe Molto bene downstairs and looking at the Galata tower from the street. This experience was in a way robbed from us :(. The hotel MERODDI LA PORTA, where they put us, is also walking distance from Galata tower but the street was not the same as what we expected. It was just like any other street without cafes and not very lively but rather dark and dirty in the evening. So that was a disappointment for us. We still would stay with MERODDI GALATA MANSION in future, if they don't change our hotels without informing us in advance.

This hotel is in an excellent location, just a 2 minute walk from Galata Tower and a 5 minute walk from Istiklal Street. It’s also very convenient, with easy access to the metro and tram stations. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-equipped, with efficient heating and even a hair dryer. We were impressed by the daily bottle of water and the room's overall cleanliness (towels were changed every day). The breakfast exceeded our expectations, offering a wide variety of both sweet and savory options. We booked the package with breakfast, but there's also an option for lunch and dinner via room service at an extra charge. On our last day, they even provided a lunch box since we had an early flight and couldn’t have breakfast. The hotel also offers additional services like airport transfers and a Hamam experience at extra cost. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always willing to assist with any request. A special thanks to Bedirhan for his help with check-in and recommending places to visit, to Zehra for booking our departure transfer smoothly, and to Ufuk for his friendly assistance with check-out. We can’t recommend this place enough—it’s worth every penny!

The rooms were not very soundproof. However, this did not cause any problem during our stay. There was no lift which makes it harder to carry luggage. Stairs have no handrail.

Location was awesome, breakfast also very good. Small room, but cozy and great value for money

Wifi was really bad for the last few days (only on the first night of our stay was working good)

Lovely hotel, well situated, 2 min walk from Galata Tower, near the Sishane Metro Station. It is very well connected with all means of transportation (trams, busses) The room was nice, on the 2nd floor. Clean sheets and towels, heating water mug, coffee, 2 bottles of water every day and a complementary gift from the hotel. Good water pressure. Breakfast was good, kind of repetitive : cheeses, eggs(boiled and omelette), some salads, some cuts, fresh vegetables and fruits), pastries, coffee, tea and juice. We had a very good communication with the staff, starting prior of our arrival. We let the luggages at the reception in the day of our check out and collected them around 5 PM, I consider this a big plus.

The room was a bit noisy, but we were worned about it. After the first day of walking around 20 km, it didn't really matter.

We’ve spent in Merrodi a week and it’s been a great stay. The location is wonderful, very close to the underground, bus and tram stations. Mind the hills though. The staff are super-helpful, the breakfast is delicious and various, the rooms are clean and tidy. We even got a little present from the hotel in the first morning which was so nice.

It was a bit hard to find the location at first cuz it’s hidden behind the café on the first floor. (the pic below) Also there was a kind of cigarette smell in the stairwell which was rather unpleasant. My guess is that the carpets need to be cleaned since they might have absorbed it.

I really liked the Maroddi hotel. It's central, where you can reach many places to visit even by walking. There is a bar restaurant inside where you can have lunch or dinner. All the staff is very helpful and listens to your needs. They helped us with booking the taxi wherever we needed. Lydia was the manager which was very friendly and supported us in our needs with the taxi as well and other things when we needed. Breakfast was included in the price and was really good, generous and vary. I definitely recommend it. I would go back again in this hotel. The location of Meroddi was exceptional, next to Galata Tower, the hotel was very clean , breakfast was good, and personal was very nice. Most helpful person was Lidya(Lili), the receptionist. She is amazing...always taking care of all the guest.Thank you so much to her.

No lift to take the luggage upstairs ,so, poor Lidya, the receptionist ,was in charge of do that.....climbing the stairs with suitcases of more than 20 kilos...that is a job for a strong man, no for a young lady .All the guest realised that......poor woman....you need to change that ,please Meroddi .

The perfect staff with good behavior made our stay much more pleasant. The breakfast was diverse and delicious including fresh fruits and sweets, both cold and warm buffets. The location is 2 minutes walk to Galata tower, 4 minutes walk (uphill ) to Shishhane metro station and 10 minutes to the main road in order to have access to other PT. The room was clean,the room service was available everyday. The sheets and pillowcases and towels were super clean. The reception was helpful. It is not provided with an elevator but the reception helped us with the baggages.

The only problem was the noisy old AC which was annoying to keep it on more than couple of minutes and also the air circulation.

I really appreciated the welcome & kindness of staff especially receptionist Bedirhan. I loved the hotel's coziness, cleanliness, its youth hostel ambiance with its small cafe/bar. Breakfast is varied and really good. I felt at home. Located near a vibrant area with shops, restaurants, art gallery, metro & tram station. Cute & authentic neighbourhood of Galata (on a sloped, cobbled street).

It's a multiple staired-building with no lift. But you can get help from staff. One morning, there was this sewage smell that I'm sure can be fixed.

the location could not have been better- right at the foot of galata tower, located right next to the tram station and extremely close to taxim square. if you stay here commuting to the central part of istanbul and places like sultanahmet will be a breeze. There is a supermarket, cheap restaurants, a salon and a taxi stand walking distance from the hotel. Istanbul Modern is also very close by and the Bosphorus is just a five minute walk away. Additionally, the rooms were extremely clean and hygienic. The service was lovely, all the stuff were very helpful and we had a great time chatting to them. The reception/lobby is a great place to hang out/have a glass of wine/read/ or just watch the city go by. The breakfeast is free and also great :) Expect savouries, pastries, fresh juice, fresh eggs and a whole turkish mezze ! The restaurant at the hotel is absolutely amazing- we didn’t want to eat anywhere else! Please take my recommendation- if you want to have a great stay in Istanbul, stay here :)
