I recently stayed at the Historic Galata Hotel, and it was an excellent experience. The location is strategic, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the city. It is within walking distance of Tophane tram station, Karakoy ferry station, and it’s also close to Taksim, giving easy access to many key attractions. I stayed in the duplex unit, and the room was incredibly spacious and comfortable. It came with a simple kitchen and a fridge, which was perfect for preparing light meals or snacks, a nice touch of convenience, especially for longer stays. The kitchen area also had a large sofa, which was a great place to relax after a day out. Despite being in the heart of the city, the hotel itself was wonderfully quiet. One of the highlights of my stay was the warm hospitality. The owner and his wife were very friendly and accommodating, always ready to help and make sure I had everything I needed. Their personal touch added a lot to the overall experience, making it feel more like a home away from home. If you’re looking for a comfortable, centrally located, and welcoming place to stay in Istanbul, the Historic Galata Hotel is an excellent choice.

For the price we paid, I'd have to say the hotel was exceptional. Our room was an old style, self contained room with an authentic Turkish feel to it. Really good value in a great location, particularly if you're interested in the old town, but it's also close to the tram for access to other areas. Friendly, helpful hosts who are interested in making sure we had all we needed. Our room was clean and relatively large and the bathroom was good. There is a kitchen sink and some limited cutlery and crockery, which was an added bonus. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here.

No block out curtain in the front room could be an issue if you're disturbed by early morning light. Limited luggage storage facilities.

It truly felt like a home away from home. The owners were incredibly friendly and kind to my family, always going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Anything we needed or asked for, they happily provided—often even before we asked! They also shared helpful tips and recommendations that made exploring Istanbul so much easier and more enjoyable. We’re truly grateful—thank you for the warm hospitality!

This place is on an ideal location. On one side, you have Istiklal street on 5mins walk. Other side, you have Galata Tower and Port on 6/7 mins walk. For Sultanahmet, Hagia Sophia or Grand Bazar, there is a T1 tram line on a 5min walk which takes you to these locations in just 10mins. The facility is itself very vintage, comfortable and clean. The hotel is ran by two brothers and these guys are doing a brilliant job. They help you in every way possible. I lost my wallet in Istanbul while arriving to this hotel (all money and cards are gone). These guys lend me money until I received money from my relatives. Tha nks guyzz!!! You are angels.

Calm location, in old bulding, not too far from busy streets. Very pleasant staff available 24hrs. Clean room, hot water. Generally, we enjoyed our stay!

I think If you prefer light rooms, this one is not the best choice. The room has small window to dark terrace (abandoned and dirty). Bed is in basement (w/o window). They also need to change bulbs or fix switches, because most of them were out service. Wifi connection was poor in the room, even mobile network barely worked on terrace.

Hotel rooms are spacious. We had a two-level apartment facing the street, where the bedroom was on the top level while the lower level had a small small kitchenette, a small fridge, a sofa, some dishes, along the bathroom. The hotel location is a bit hidden, but the area is mostly quiet and very safe, some blocks away from Galata tower, Istiklal street (uphill, keep that in mind) and some nice cafes and restaurants. A small grocery store is a few steps away, where you can get water, bread, cheese and basic goods, if needed. Tram station Tophane is at walking distance, providing access to line T1 that takes you to the most important touristic attractions (Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Grand Bazaar, etc.). However, the best of our stay was the friendly, attentive and professional attitude of the staff. Their willingness to help is remarkable and they provide as much help as they can to make the guest's stay as comfortable as possible. They will help you to get diverse services to move around the city, like SIM cards, city tours, professional guides, restaurant recommendations, food delivery services, etc.

Cleaning can be improved, especially on the apartment's lower level (surfaces, sofa, etc). The rooms didn't have much light either and it also had many details caused by deterioration, like paint peeling off the wall, rusty metal hand rails in the stairs, broken soap dispenser in the bathroom, etc Those things could be easily fixed and may improve the guest's experience sensibly. External noise could be a problem in street-facing rooms.

Really liked the location. It was very close to Galata and Istiklal Street but was still in a quiet area so it did not get very loud. Most of the appliances were provided and there was also a small kitchenette.

The bathroom was a bit small. The sofa bed was too soft so not very comfortable. The windows in the room were difficult to open at least by ourselves so we had to ask the staff to do it. The reception area was super small so we could not chill there if we had time to kill but had to go to a nearby cafe instead.

Great accommodations, located in a quiet neighborhood but very close to all the attractions, galata tower, restaurants, harborfront, parks, coffee shops, and other cool places. Wifi in the hotel is excellent, you can work from your room in peace. Convenient that the reception is open 24/7. The owners of the hotel are very friendly and always help if you need anything. The rooms are all spacious, well furnished and with their own kitchen - which is very convenient. I fully recommend this hotel for those who want a relaxing stay at the hotel, but also to be close to all significant locations.

We liked the location of the property in relation to the main attractions in Istanbul. It was very comfortable if you enjoy walks with places to stop for food all along the way. If necessary it was possible to get the tram which was close by. It was great for our visit. The staff were very supportive to our requests and available any time.

A lovely neighbourhood, but if you are a light sleeper than you will likely be woken up by sounds outside It was very comfortable and considering the building is older some things are expected, like the main bedroom door did not close completely, and the shower would not drain quickly if the water pressure was set high.

We took the apartment with a garden at the first floor. Very stylish and cosy. Very close to Galata tower (3 min walk) and Galata Port (5 min), Dolmabahce palace (10 min), Egyptian market (10 min). Perfect location, good price and a very nice and patient family who own the place. It is very safe to stay for girls traveling alone. My friend felt on the wet rainy street and almost broke her leg and the guys where very helpfull with the information about the best hospital, with the taxi, transfer, they are really good and trusty people.
