Convenient location for Downtown (although downtown itself isn't the nicest part of Portland). Clean and Quiet. Large comfortable bed. They were the only hotel we stayed with that replied to a question I had via Booking, and were happy for me to get mail sent to the hotel, which proved to be extremely useful and much appriciated.

The nextdoor El Gaucho steakhouse has a Cigar lounge and as a result there was a slight smell of cigar in the reception. Breakfast was slightly disappointing and basic, there were much better option elsewhere in Portland

One of the best places to stay in PDX. Enjoyed the lobby common area and our room was perfect for the short time spent. Walking distance to fun eating and shopping places in the Downtown area.

The Valet Parking charge was totally unexpected($50/night) and we just went with it due to our short stay. We were there about 12 hours. Similar to the comments regarding breakfast services, the valet charges should be communicated at the time of booking. We would have found an alternative. We just received an ad bill early Saturday morning.

Great location. Food trucks, coffee, music venues all very short walking distance, parking lot was very secure. We had a booking date mix up and every staff member we spoke to while fixing it was incredibly friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and helpful. Even though I booked through a 3rd party they helped every step of the way. I would definitely stay again just because of how exceptional the staff was.

The only downside was the thin walls (expected in an older building.) So we were woken up several times because of street traffic, a neighbor talking loudly on their phone, and people talking in the halls. The sound really travels. So if you are a light sleeper pack earplugs just in case. We called front desk about the especially loud neighbor and it was remedied very quickly.

Everything was phenomenal except one thing.

The view from the room was NOT good. The view was the kitchen exhaust system and large ugly vents, and the back end of the hotel. No sky, plant life, or anything pleasant. I shut the curtains for three days. I should have expected something like this with booking.com. The hotel told me that booking with a third party, the rooms are on the lower end of the hotel.

Very comfortable and clean. Complimentary bottles of water were great to have. Decor in the lobby was beautiful. Room was spartan, but bed had lots of fuzzy pillows. Would definitely stay again!

The complimentary coffee ran out one morning which was sad, but it’s a quick walk to a coffee shop down the street. My room was near the elevator so it was a bit noisy with other guests coming and going.

The breakfast, which was included in the price, was excellent. The service for breakfast exceeded expectations. All the staff were professional, friendly and provided exceptional service. I was treated to an introduction to the historical hallway photos by the engineering manager. Discovering and reviewing those photos was a highlight of my stay.

The history of the hotel and the Historic Stairwell with the original marble floors and the photos of Portland's history is wonderful. The lobby with the walnut pillars and walls and crystal chandeliers is beautiful. The room and bedding was quite comfortable and very clean. I also like that we were provided two free bottles of water. Might not be much but not every hotel even offers that for free anymore.

$49 parking is a lot but I think that is pretty standard for Portland. The valets were very nice and pretty quick to bring the card around.

The hotel is in a great location and is in walking distance of the art museum and some fun local stores and restaurants. The room was spacious and clean, and the mattress was supportive and extremely comfortable. All staff members were encountered were courteous and attentive.

There is only valet parking, but there is a 24 hour garage across the street so it wasn't a huge inconvenience.

Thank you very much for getting us a room, motel 6 CANCELED our reserved room at midnight and left us with no choice but to spend a bit more to stay here but they were amazingly accommodating and understanding that we had children and no where else to stay.

There is NOTHING I DIDNT LIKE OR NOTHIN BAD TO SAY ABOUT THIS WONDERFUL PLACE Very nice staff rooms atmosphere and above all they didn't give away our room and reservations at anytime like motel 6 did. PET FRIENDLY TOO

The history and old world charm.

I had to request a clean top blanket for the bed because there was so much caked on mud in the shag. The new remodeled room already had stains on the carpet . There is no microwave to warm up leftovers nor is there hot water for bath/shower. it's slightly warm at best. El Gaucho's restaurant connected to the building is one of the finest restaurants in Oregon!
