the location was very good for us we needed to be in various places nearby found it be like a home from home bedrooms were tastefully decorated, clean and large. Bathroom was very good lovely shower nice clean decoration we were in room no 1. Breakfast was delicious staff so friendly and helpful. We noticed on some reviews about traffic on A1 it is a main road so your expect traffic but when windows closed at night not noticeable and did nt stop us having a good nights rest. Simon, sarah and staff are so friendly and helpful and wish them every success. Thank you all. N

Nothing not to like enjoy the peace of the countryside and beyond

Awh it was just fabulous. Just what we expected, it’s an old property dating back, but contemporary colours and furnishings were the theme. We met some wonderful folks in the busy pub at the Island View with remarkable tales to tell. Great atmosphere. There was a pub quiz as well! We had an evening meal (fish and chips, Nachos) whilst there which we thoroughly enjoyed, and well presented. The Island View is a family run establishment which works well and traditional breakfast was very prompt in arriving and staff couldn’t do enough for us. Beds were comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. The Island View was ideally situated and really convenient for our planned overnight stay after travelling 6 hours up the A1. We would have liked to have stayed longer and visited Holy Island, but hey, maybe next time. Thank you everyone!

There wasn’t anything to not like.

Simon, Sarah and the family made us feel very welcome. Great hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was very good. They also do evening meals, which are highly recommended and have a nice bar area. Rooms are well equipped, a good size and comfortable. Great size shower. Idea location for visiting the whole area. They do have good WiFi and car parking. Would highly recommend staying here. A big thank you to Simon and Sarah for our lovely stay.

A king size bed would have made the room perfect, that's only because my husband is a big man.

One night stop en route to collect family from Edinburgh Airport. Room was warm and cosy with very comfortable beds. As a notoriously bad sleeper I got 7 hours sleep which was almost unheard of for me. Simon our host recommended a lovely Italian restaurant to visit in Berwick town, just a few minutes drive away, which was very tasty and reasonably priced. We had a brilliant freshly cooked breakfast the next morning. The view from our bedroom window over fields was stunning. The secret however to the success of the Island View is Simon and Sarah, the hosts/owners. Their personalities are perfect for this business, and nothing is too much trouble for them. We would return in a heartbeat.

All perfect

The welcome is friendly and you feel comfortable from the first moment you arrive. The whole family were there and were introduced, and it is a real family environment. I asked questions before arriving and they were responded to very quickly and efficiently. The room was comfortable and quiet even though it is close to the road. The evening meal was homemade, and delicious. Location was ideal for work too and would be a great base for sightseeing.

Nothing really

Simon was friendly and welcoming, and informed us of some lesser known things to see and do in the area. Bar and breakfast staff were friendly. Breakfast was yummy and well done! The hotel and room were clean. We could see Lindisfarne and Bamburgh castle from our room and the view onto the fields was gorgeous, nice to watch birds and hares morning and evening. It's a good mid-point to see all the main things in this part of the country. Little pub room downstairs was cute, comfortable and well stocked!

The building/rooms need a little TLC, like a lick of paint and some homely touches/extras, such as a bin in the bathroom and a more welcoming tea set-up in the room. Because it is on the main road, it can be a bit loud at times due to the traffic.

We were welcomed on arrival by the friendly and helpful owners. Our room was light and bright and enjoyed lovely countryside views towards Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle in the distance. The double glazing was excellent. It is next to the A1 but this makes it very convenient. Tea, coffee, milk and biscuits were provided in the room and much welcome after our long drive from The Highlands of Scotland. The bed was extremely comfortable. The location is spot on for exploring the local area. Check tide times for the causeway to Holy Island which we had done. We were able to visit the island in the evening and then again early morning and return for a delicious breakfast afterwards. Would definitely stay again if we were in the location. A lovely one night stay. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

Nothing it was wonderful.

We had fry up for breakfast, plenty of food, and owners were even able to feed us half an hour early so we could make the crossing to Lindisfarne which was excellent. Good to see vegetarian options too. Free parking is brilliant. No noisy guests and very quick service from the restaurant and bar, and reasonably priced. Very easy to get to from the A1.

I think our room was close to the kitchens, so you can hear the warming up noises in the morning, and smell fried food in the room from about 8am. One towel smelled a bit like cigarette smoke. Can hear a bit of traffic noise as it's directly on the A1. But overall no big problems.

Simon and his family gave us a warm welcome upon arrival. The room was comfortable and the food was fresh and lovely. A perfect B&B for a stop on our way from Scotland to the Newcastle ferry.

We weren’t a big fan of the automatic air fresheners in the corridor leading to the rooms, but that may be a personal preference (we are both sensitive to artificial smells), and does not take away our overall feeling that this was a lovely stop on our route.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel exceptionally welcome by our host Simon and the team. He provided lots of information where we could go for food that evening - they normally provide, but were unable that evening. We were about 10 mins from Berwick where there is a bustling town of places to eat and lots of free parking after 5.30pm. The room was really comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. Including Tea and coffee etc. Bathroom was also equally as good, clean and tidy and the shower was decent pressure wise. Wifi was decent reception. Breakfast was served a little later on Sunday so we sat in the cafe area and gazed at the beautiful sunny view across to Lindisfarne (Holy Island) - which is a short drive away. We had a full English cooked breakfast and drinks provided, all were fresh, hot and good. There were also cereals and fruit if required. We will definatly be returning!
