It seemed amazing but I came in the dark and left in the dark early morning

Reception closing at 9:30 pm meant I had an incredibly stressed bus ride from stansted airport to get there in time as I booked late. When I arrived however my host was very accomodating given I was a last minute booking and changed my room to accomodate my large suitcase not needing stairs she went above and beyond to order a taxi and process my arrival and departure. It was excellent service. She also stayed in the line to help me find the right bus in time. Without her help I could not have arrived from my very delayed flight in time nor could I have arrived for my next 7 am flight in time .. excellent service

The property was in a lovely location, set back from the lane so you couldn’t hear any passing traffic. Beautiful garden and trees around the property. Breakfast was plentiful, nothing unthought of.

First view from outside you may think it wasn’t a very well kept place but actually it was spotless and beautiful. The property has history and once you step indoors you actually realise the detail and high level of upkeep taken. Hairdryer not in the room, but easily obtainable, I just didn’t realise when I entered property. Maybe a conversation at the beginning as it could have been an issue if I had needed to get ready to go out quickly.

Interesting old house sympathetically converted into a pleasant guest house. The antidote to bland travel inns! Friendly and welcoming host. My room, traditionally furnished, was comfortably large enough for an easy stay of three nights. Good bathroom with powerful shower. Everything spotlessly clean and the daily housekeeping was excellent. Good breakfast. Easy parking. If you have an electric car then the Tesla and Applegreen charging station at Birchanger Green is just a couple of miles away - I used it twice.

The weather. I would have liked to explore the garden which must be delightful in summer. Some people may dislike the stairs and passageways of this old house but I enjoyed weaving my way to a room at the top.

Location is beautiful and peaceful. Rooms are extremely clean which I love. There wasn’t a speck of dust or dirt anywhere, excellent. Fantastic location for Stanstead Airport. Took us eight minutes to get there.

Don’t like cushions on pillows. They are not washed as regularly as pillowcases so not a nice feeling to have unwashed cushions on pillow cases. Curtains were not blackout whatsoever so the room was very bright from about 4 am. I’d recommend putting a blackout blind in as option for guests to use as well as curtains.

A very clean, well-run establishment. The bed was massive & very comfortable. We found the hosts to be pleasant and helpful, & the breakfasts were delicious. We would recommend The Cottage and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

There is a bit of an issue with the water system. It's noisy, & the pressure is weak in the shower if someone else is showering. We also had problems with water temperature in the shower - at one point we couldn't turn it down.

Check in was very straight forward. The location and property were beautiful. The rooms were immaculate. I stayed here for one week on work business and my room was cleaned etc every single day. The host was really lovely and I had no issues at all. I would stay here every time I am in the area without a doubt.

Nothing - it was amazing

There were no frills, tea and coffee facility in the room. It was in a quiet, peaceful location overlooking the garden, staff were lovely. The country pub was a mile from the guest house, which made for a nice walk in a rural and scenic area. The bed was super comfortable. Check-in was easygoing. I woke up in the same position I closed my eyes in, making sleeping a success!

The TV made a loud humming noise occasionally; it sounded like a vacuum in another room.

We needed an overnight stay for our early morning flight. We were positively surprised to find such a nice and charming accommodation so close to the airport - and super quiet as well. The room and bathroom were very clean, and staff was really friendly and helpful. On top of that, checking in and out was very easy.

Beautiful house, in a very convenient location for Stansted Airport, with a spot to park my car. The owners were welcoming, and my room was really comfortable, with windows looking over the garden. The breakfast was particularly good. Would definitely stay again if I was in the area.

I couldn't really fault it.

We arrived late as our flight was cancelled and couldn't get here sooner. The owner very kindly waited up for us and gave me a number for a taxi for the following morning. She was very kind and welcoming. Woke up to the birds singing and a beautiful garden out the back. Spotlessly clean and comfortable 10/10
