We were travelling to France, flying from Stansted airport so the location of the stay was perfect, Stansted airport being 5 minutes from the hotel. Some people may feel that the hotel is a little noisy as it is directly below the flight path into Stansted and flights are fairly regular up to 10:30p.m. but if you are using the hotel as a start and end point for your journey from Stansted Airport then this should be forgiven. As the hotel is undertaking major refurbishment there was no restaurant availability during our stay but the reception did make some recommendations. The country pub we chose was excellent value for money with a wide choice of menu to accommodate all needs. We wee informed ahead of booking that food will not be available until later in 2024.

No comment as the hotel provided exactly what we required.

The location to the airport and ease of parking. The staff in the restaurant were friendly and accommodating.

The room was dirty, mould build up on base of the bed in room 16. The vanity hadn’t been cleaned, lots of toothpaste stains etc and the shower had remnants of toilet paper in it. The single bed in the room didn’t have a bedside table or lamp so if you need to get up in r he night you have to guess where the step is before getting to a light switch. There is only one bedside table at the double bed. Felt like a room that’s not been cared for. We stayed in the stable block before and rated 10/10 as it was perfect. It’s a shame to be so disappointed on the way back from our holiday.

Had a great stay before our holiday. The hotel was superb, with friendly staff, lovely grounds and good food. There is a lovely patio outside the restaurant looking out over the pond which was teeming with fish. There is also a quiet area to escape to if needed which was beautifully furnished. Prices were reasonable and we were made to feel very welcome. It is also quite close to Bishop's Stortford so we had the added bonus of a morning there before our flight.

The bathroom didn't have a frosted window and the blind used was rattan, so it was quite see through. Our room was also right on the stairs so there was quite a lot of foot traffic immediately outside our door.

A very high level of quality for the Hotel, its location and the room itself. Our bedroom in the main building was large, comfy and quiet and looks as though it had recently been refurbished. We had a meal in the restaurant, which was very tasty, well presented and of good value. The newly refurbished restaurant was a great place to eat with views across the gardens. It's proximity to Stansted Airport (8 minutes away) was the reason for booking, as we had an early flight, but I'm glad we did.

Getting a parking fine when I got back from holiday. Having said that, I phoned through and this was cancelled by the Hotel immediately, so not too bad.

This was an absolutely fabulous place to stay! It really exceeded my expectations. When booking it was much cheaper than the other airport hotels at stansted but it was so much more beautiful. The staff were so friendly, both receptionists went out of their way to help and were so proud of the property and knowledgeable of its history. Its so close to airport but feels like you are in the middle of the English countryside. Beautiful building, decor, gardens, lake walk and food was great! I highly recommend if you are flying in or out of Stansted and need a place to stay thats more peaceful and immersed in nature then the airport chaos, also ideal if youve a long layover or overnight layover.

I was blown away by this hotel for the price I paid . It was a gorgeous place with a fantastic huge room with lovely views and walk in showing, The staff were very welcoming especially the check in person - The grounds and settings were lovely and It was really close to the airport so I was up and at the airport within 10 mins drive. The food looked lovely but I didn't eat at the restaurant or bar but again it was a lovely area with a lake and woodland walk outside. Free onsite parking and a nice venue to walk around - I would imagine it being a lovely wedding venue. Thank you to all the people who made me welcome and I look forward to staying there again when I travel from Stansted

I booked this Hotel for my Girlfriends birthday as the hotel looked amazing and the hotel is very victorian and has lots of character and charm and is set in the countryside with beautiful scenery. The hotel also had just reopened after a major refurbishment. We had a great big room with everything we wanted and a great view. The staff were excellent and very welcoming and went that extra mile to give you a good stay. I would also like to say that on arrival we were greated by William at the reception desk and my partner and I had such a great laugh with William he had us in stitches we actually stood at the reception desk for about an hour talking to William after we come back to the hotel from our meal he even done a photo shoot of me and my partner around the hotel William is a great asset to the hotel. And the manager and bar staff that was on duty on the 15th of February in the evening are also a great asset to the hotel. We will definitely be staying again.

We actually liked everything about the hotel there was a few hiccups due to the refurbishment which is expected anywhere you go. The hot water stopped working in one section of the hotel but they gave all the guests an empty room to use to go and have a shower.

We had a park and ride stay, one night with 4 days parking. The manor is in a lovely location with squirrels and rabbits roaming free in the grounds. On arrival the staff were very attentive, explained everything and had arranged our taxi for the early morning flight, giving us an all paid voucher. We stayed in the newly refurbed rooms across the road, they had everything you could want or need and were very tastefully finished. To be expected as we were close to Stansted Airport and were under the flight path, there was some noise overhead, but ear plugs are supplied, we did not use them, the secondary glazing worked so it was not an issue. We did have food and drinks in their lounge area, super comfy and the meal was very well put together with onion rings ( proper ones ) the size of your fist, all in all 5 stars for taste and value for money.

Only negatives were the bar staff opened a tab for us as we were going to have food and drinks throughout the evening, but on the second visit to the bar to order our second round of drinks and the food, they asked us to settle up the tab, which made us feel slightly uncomfortable, almost untrustworthy, bearing in mind our car was being left there for four days it was quite baffling, so after that, it was pay as we ordered. The rooms across the road are close to a bend which cars do come round quite fast, I would suggest if not quick on your feet you let the staff know, so the room(s) given are in the manor.

The rooms were clean and comfortable with everything that we needed, e.g. kettle, tea/coffee, hair dryer, iron/ironing board. The parking facility is another advantage. Staff were very friendly. The location is great too and peaceful.

I've stayed here twice now. The first time was exceptional with a spacious, clean and comfortable room. The second time was still clean and comfortable. However, the room we were in this time (room 31) had a problem in the bathroom where the water from the shower goes everywhere onto the floor because the drainage holes aren't catching the water efficiently. Apart from that, we enjoyed our stay overall and would recommend to others.

nice accommodation - modern style in an old building. Staff friendly and helpful. Our bathroom looked like it had had work done but not finished properly - eg holes not filled where a towel rail had been replaced

Hadn’t appreciated it was at the end of the runway and the noise from the planes. Wouldn’t stay in a ground floor room as obviously used by people going to the airport on holiday and both mornings we were there I was wakened at 4am by noise of people from the room above us and then crashing down the stairs with luggage or similar.
