Great value for location. Ended up staying two nights not just the one originally booked, due to scottish weather delaying our kayaking trip! Nice old property, staff on the whole lovely. They did seem a bit stressed at breakfast time when everyone arrived as soon as the door opened on the Monday! Room was fine, though as we were on the top floor shower water pressure was little low. Great cooked breakfast with some fresh fruit, cereal and juices to help yourselftoo. They also had porridge.. Note on Sunday breakfast doesn't start til 9.30 (at least in June 25), 7.30 on weekdays. Campbeltown doesn't have a huge number of places to eat out (according to some locals we were talking to in a pub lots closed recently), so we ate at the restaurant in the hotel one night. hey suggested we sat in the small bar area as it was quiet in the restaurant, which was a cosier option. Decent menu, and choice, food served quickly and nice whisky selection. The haggis stuffed chicken and scampi went down well.

On arrival I was greeted by a very lovely lady on reception. She was very friendly and attentive. Made me realise that I haven’t had customer service like that in a long time. I was worried the room was going to be out dated but was pleasantly surprised when I went into my room, it was fresh, clean and the decor was lovely.

The shower in my room wouldn’t stay at one temperature and the shower head kept slipping.there also was no information in my room with the wi fi code. I didn’t get a chance to say to reception on my way out.

This was a good traditional inn with nicely furnished overnight accommodation and a comfortable bed. All of this very welcome to a weary traveller who just got in at ten o'clock at night after a long day of driving through Scotland! And breakfast in the morning was excellent here, as was the prospect of a pleasant day touring in Kintyre later. This was just a stopover, but perhaps sometime it may be possible to arrange to stay longer. Here the key is not so much the quality, which is good, but deciding in advance to commit to a longer stay. In my experience hotels are a little worried about guests who suddenly want to stay longer. This is always difficult if unacquainted with an area previously, but I now know that if available for the dates in advance this would be an excellent base for a long stay. The most interesting thing to me as a stranger from England was that one could draw up to the front and park the car there, since nobody else was there, and moreover it was quite legal to leave it there in the street overnight, and this has virtually disappeared in England. For this I was thankful as it meant the long day was over and I could go straight to rest! Incidentally, one of the blessings here was a very comfortable armchair in the room, and I saw next morning a very well appointed guest lounge opposite the breakfast salon. However, I was about ready for checking out by this time, and did not linger! It could be, though, that most hotels prefer the guests to find something to do in the day beyond reading the news in a leather armchair until lunchtime, so it must, perhaps, just be used occasionally. But at the right time this would be an option!

Here, as always, one needed to note that inns and hotels do not always do things the same way, and there is room for different ways to arrange breakfast! Here, though, although slightly different from the other places I was at recently, everything including the full breakfast was very tastefully done, and a minor thing like there not being a fully enclosed wardrobe in the room could not be a problem to me, and I would only mention it as being of possible interest to some. They have no lift, and this might be of interest, although I do not myself need the lifts specially.

I was only able to get one night at the Argyll Arms - they were fully booked my second night in Campbeltown. So I had to wait until 3pm to get access to the next accommodation I was able to book. The staff were super helpful and accommodating- allowed me to set up my workspace in a quiet corner, made sure I was warm enough and had drinks brought to me until 3pm when I could check into my next place. I really appreciated the great service.

Well located in the centre of the town, right next door to the Town Hall. There is ample on-street parking overnight. Staff dealt gracefully with a very late check in. The building is an old one, but has been refurbished recently. This is well done, with a very good standard of finish and plenty period features retained. It's got a lot of character. Bathroom was an ample size with a decent shower and huge bath.

The mattress felt a little thin/lumpy. Didn't stop me sleeping but I have quite a high tolerance for these kinds of things. There's a bit of noise from the street in the morning - deliveries etc. going into the nearby shops. Perhaps request a room at the rear of the building if you are a light sleeper.

I stayed in the Argyll Arms a year or so ago, so knew what to expect. The Victorian building was built as a hunting lodge for the Duke of Argyll and is now a boutique style hotel. My room was cosy and warm. I have a horror of cold hotel rooms where I can't get any heating to work. THe radiator here was working and the room snug. The toilet and shower room was sparkling clean, and the shower cubicle roomy. Water temperature was good. My devices connected automatically to the WiFi, having stored the connection from my previous visit. All staff were very pleasant and friendly. I had a three course evening meal in the hotel, which arrived quickly and was reasonably priced. It's perhaps more "bar meal" than "haute cuisine", but tasty, and of generous enough size. It is a boon that the hotel has its own private car park. There was plenty of space on my visit, but I imagine that in a busy summer season it will fill up quickly. The location could not be more central in Campbeltown. I had the full cooked breakfast, in the imposing breakfast room. It's good that sockets in the room also have USB charger sockets. The bed was comfortable.

I would have liked a bit higher water pressure in the shower, but it was sufficient, and the temperature easily controlled. In common with other hotels (and everywhere, really), prices are a little higher than they used to be.

I stayed in this hotel for a week while walking the Kintyre Way. The hotel had everything I wanted. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly. I ate in the hotel bar most evenings where the service was excellent and the food was also really tasty and good value. The menu had a surprisingly varied selection of meals. The location of the hotel is ideal for accessing all facilities in Campbeltown, being right in the centre and close to the bus terminus, harbour, pubs, restaurants and shops. I would defintiely use the Argyll Arms Hotel if visiting the area again.

It would have been good if breakfasts were available a little earlier than 07.30, at least on weekdays.

Although a little faded the hotel was comfortable and the facilities exceeded our expectations of a 2 star hotel. Our room was clean, well decorated and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and served in the elegant dining room. The staff were exceptional and especially friendly without overstepping the mark. We would certainly consider staying there again if in Campbeltown.

Nothing to really dislike.

The location and staff were first class the cleanliness was exceptional, the bed wasn’t to my partner or myself usual comfort but we were only there for two nights, I would recommend the Hotel to friends and family and if we are ever in Campbelltown again we will be calling again.

The breakfast times were a little bit different from other Hotels we have stayed in ,example on Saturday time out was 9am a little early in my opinion for a retired couple on vacation?

First, the staff. Everyone was friendly, engaging, accommodating and helpful. Absolutely the best! This is an old hotel with the grandeur of a different century, yet the facilities are in perfect working order and the housekeeping is immaculate. The food is wonderful and obviously made from scratch by chefs who know what they are doing.

Nothing.
