The Royal Hotel is in a great location by the harbour and across the road from the bus station. As Campbeltown isn't very big, you also find yourself close to all the shops and attractions, too. The staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful. Breakfast, served in the Harbourview Grille, was good. Incorporated in the hotel is the Black Sheep pub, which also serves food and has an outside seating area where you can look out over the harbour. My room, 26, was extremely spacious with an equally big ensuite bathroom. From the room, you get great views over the harbour, the palm tree lined Hall Street and the Campbeltown Cross.

Fabulous hotel with exceptional level of service. The little details all add up. Great staff, really excellent food and very comfortable rooms. Puts most modern hotels to shame. Bathroom was very spacious with a full size bath and a separate and very effective shower. On top of all this is the location and very easy roadside parking. Loved every minute of my stay. All the staff were wonderful but special mention to Alison.

My only mild criticism was that my hotel room was very warm. To some this might be a bonus. Easily fixed by opening the window (yes! You can do this here!) and turning off the radiator.

The perfect blend of a historic hotel with modern amenities. Picturesque view of the harbor, great room size, comfortable bed, fantastic water pressure in the shower! Walking distance to shops, restaurants and distilleries!! We would absolutely stay here again in the future!

The food in the hotel restaurant and pub was just okay. Most of the menu options were on the heavier side. Guessing that's normal for Scotland?

Everything. The room looking over the harbour was very spacious, very comfortable and luxurious. We loved the period decor and could not fault anything. We also enjoyed a drink in the Black Sheep Bar, and dinner in the Harbour Grille dining room. The reception staff were excellent, and having a lift was very convenient. We were very sorry we could not stay more than one night. We highly recommend this hotel in Campbeltown.

Hotel was located in the center by the coast, fabulous view from the room. Room was spacious and clean. Amenities provided. Toilet was spacious and bright too. Alison's service was excellent, from the time we check in till we are out. Very friendly and welcoming. Free parking right outside the hotel. Breakfast was nice.

Room was a little stuffy and warm even when a fan was provided. Did not manage to open the window as there were too many insects flying in.

The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was spacious and well appointed, clean and comfortable. Great food in restaurant.

Having booked a package with Booking.com which clearly included B&B, the receptionist at check-in offered us morning Breakfast at additional cost. I had to prove B&B WAS included in our original package price.

The "classic" double room, which often means "small", was a good size. Very comfortable mattress and pillows. Strong water pressure in the shower. Very centrally located for walking around Campbeltown. And a warm welcome on arrival.

The wi-fi was mostly very good but more or less non-existent on our last day.

The location was central and room had excellent view over waterfront. The provision for breakfast was more than acceptable. The bedroom and ensuite modernised and extremely comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant.

On arrival nearby parking was difficult. The Dining Room was functional but basic. Very noisy acoustics. No lounge in which to relax.

The location is perfect, and having an elevator made moving our luggage much easier. The room was clean, and the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. Both the restaurant and the bar exceeded our expectations—great food and atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Lovely old hotel in a fantastic location. Large rooms with a big comfy bed and everything you need for an overnight stay. Staff were all great and very helpful.

In my humble opinion, a little overpriced but i get that there are not a lot of hotels in that area so the hotels get away with the pricing. Our trip was very last minute so we had no alternative to pay what they asked as everywhere else was full apart from The Royal and that was probably due to the cost.
