The staff were excellent, always there to help and with a big smile. The breakfast was excellent and cooked freshly to order. We invited some friends over one evening who joined us for dinner and we all agreed the food was very good.

Because the hotel is over 600yrs old the property needs constant attention. Our bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable but there were issues with window blind fittings not working properly. The carpets were worn and new carpets could be considered. Cookham is a busy village and as expected because there is no car park at the hotel parking was tricky, but we managed!

Breakfast, room, lunch and staff were all great. A lot covers and very busy on Sunday lunch but clearly everyone was happy. The prices are fair with a great choice of food and drink, especially the wine list.

No hot water in the rooms for us and friends in 2 adjacent rooms due to a boiler failure. However, Josh, the manager was a gent advising us of the problem yesterday evening, gave us a large urn of boiling water that was still hot this morning and then offered us free champagne over lunch today and a voucher for a future free night stay, which we happily accept. Thank you

When we arrived we were greeted by the extremely friendly and helpful Manager. We ordered a few snacks which were delicious. We would happily have a meal there if the snacks were anything to do by! The breakfast in the morning was fab. Plenty to choose from and freshly cooked. All the staff were super friendly and made us feel very welcome. We wouldn't hestitate to stay there again if we were in the area.

Unfortunately the night we stayed was expectionally hot! Some of our friends were in the The Cottage and they had a very good nights sleep. For us, we were in the pub building and as it's an old building, with small windows and windows that you are unable to open fully due to health and safety we barely slept. There was a fan in the room which didn't really do much. Some airconditioning would definitely help but as the building is so old I presume there are restrictions.

This is a very old English inn with a very good chef. The rooms are comfortable and clean. It is a small group of English inns and they are consistently very good. Staff are attentive and well trained. Food was excellent and available throughout the day.

We did not check for parking and there is no dedicated parking. Given it is a small village by the Thames then it is not easy. Should offer some paid for private parking somewhere close by. The first room offered was called Daphne and right next to the vent from the kitchen. We asked to move and were given Annie which was much better. Appreciate the challenge with respect to kitchen vents however given the small number of rooms then some more deflection of the sound is needed.

Room was bijou and compact but bed was comfy and shower was great. Breakfast was delicious, the menu was lovely, served hot and swiftly by excellent staff.

Room was a little small but character made up for that. The noise from the pub and the road was a little intrusive. The night cap on the landing was a lovely touch but there was no sloe gin left in the bottle and the bar said they had run out? :(. I do like a bath too but there was only the shower. It was the last room available at the time of booking however.

16th Century coaching inn, quaint and quirky. Comfortable bed & pillows. Good quality tea and coffee in room. Fresh milk, but as room so hot it was a bit warm. Spacious shower. The room had a small room off it, with a single bed, suitable for a child, but the doorway was only about 4foot high, so had to duck to go in! It was a useful space to store case/ clothes. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order. Scrambled egg was good. We attended a party on the evening and the food was excellent and well presented.

Very small room( even though ours was one of the larger ones) Full length mirror was on the inside of a cupboard door which didn't open fully therefore unable to see properly. No towel hook in the separate toilet. The window looked out over the kitchen extractors and while they were operating it was impossible to open as all of the smells came in and was very noisy. Room extremely warm but thankfully the radiator was controllable. Fresh milk was warm, but we put next to window in the tiny room which was cold. Breakfast was ok, toast very hard, only smoked bacon, sausages a bit overcooked, not many cereals to choose from and the fresh fruit didn't look the best. Parking is an issue, on street if you get a space is 2 hours, tiny car park 2 mins walk away was only 3 hours between 9am-6pm.

Very charming B&B! The entry is through the old pub which is cozy and inviting with several fireplaces. The more modern dining area is open and airy with a lovely skylighted roof and open look into the kitchen. They have a very nice wine list and dinner both nights was excellent. Also, the included breakfast is the best we’ve had, with both a continental buffet and menu service. The hotel area is through the backyard garden area, which looks like it’s absolutely lovely in season. When you enter the cottage area, there is a complimentary nightcap setup in the hallway, so cute! Our room and bathroom were spacious, the bed was firm and comfortable with nice linens.

The only things that were less than perfect was the heater in our room would not shut off so we opened a window and used a fan. And the handle in the shower was loose.

Bel and the Dragon is an absolute gem. Room warm and comfortable with all amenities (including complimentary whisky and sloe gin). Bar downstairs is a series of smaller rooms each with open fire . . . absolutely perfect atmosphere. Good choice of food and beverage. 15 mins max walk from station, opposite the Stanley Spencer gallery, a few minutes walk to Thames and central to all Cookham amenities. All staff warm and friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast included. Highly recommend for a delightful experience.

There wasn't anything I didn't like.

Room: Absolutely lovely with a personal feel, excellent facilities including water, artisan chocolates, coffee and complimentary drinks which is a lovely touch. F&B: Excellent selection of fine wine by the bottle, great wine by the glass and fresh draft beers and ale from the bar. Dinner has been amazing with a great selection of small and larger plates, well presented and delicious to taste. Chalkboard specials offer an excellent choice of steaks as well as catch-of-the-day fishy option! Breakfast is freshly cooked offering an array of food from continental breakfast options, smashed avocado on toast, eggs benedict to a full English. All beautifully prepared or cooked.

The rooms can be somewhat hot on arrival. Remember, not everybody is the same so [if like me you run hot] then simply turn down the radiator... :)

Lovely old inn opposite the Stanley Spencer Gallery. Staff were very kind taking my bag up to the room when the room was ready for check-in whilst I went off to the gallery. Comfy bed and great hospitality tray. Loved the complimentary sloe gin available for guests. Good breakfast, but could have been a better selection of fresh fruit, although I didn’t go down to breakfast until quite late so may have missed out.

The bathroom was very large but a bit cold.The towel rail heated up but could not get the radiator in the bathroom to work and did not really seem to be any under floor heating apart from near the shower. Not such a problem for me as used the shower rather than the freestanding bath. Also the blinds in the bathroom looked as if they were stained by condensation.
