The rooms are beginning to be a little dated and tired

We love the hotel as it's where we got married. Great location. Excellent terrace overlooking the River and church. Great location.

The hotel needs a makeover. It's tired and dated in most areas. The shower was in a very poor state and the head was covered in limescale. For the price you pay (£200 a night) the standards should be much higher.

Fantastic location with an easy walk into Marlow and stunning riverside location. Very dog friendly and dinner and breakfast were excellent

The hotel needs a bit of a facelift. The rooms are comfortable but dated and the outside is looking a bit shabby.

The setting of the hotel was absolutely beautiful. One of the prettiest outlooks I've experienced. Short distance on foot to the town centre and plenty of nice eateries to choose from. Parking was no issue and was free. Breakfast was good and it was lovely overlooking the weir. Ate at the Sindhu one night and that was very nice, if rather expensive (though we had expected that for an Atul Kochhar restaurant). We would certainly stay there again.

We had room 21. My ONLY issue was the toilet. It was set so close to the wall that the large, poorly positioned, metal toilet roll holder dug into my arm and side. It was impossible to sit comfortably on that loo. PLEASE check it out and make some changes. There is room to do so. I have stayed at dozens and dozens of hotels and this was the only time I've experienced such an uncomfortable toilet.

Firstly, I have to praise the staff. Friendly, professional, attentive. We were made to feel welcome and comfortable and will definitely be staying again. Room was very good, but having paid for a super deluxe, we expected nothing less. So one could argue the value for money, but location, facilities, food, staff all excellent. Sitting on the lawn overlooking the Thames, having a drink, we passed a few wonderful hours. I am medically Gluten Free and at breakfast, they served me well. Dinner in the restaurant was superb.

The noise from the weir, which they should warn you of but don't, took a bit of getting used to, not helped by the windows not locking fully. Which if you look very closely, leads you to notice that some maintenance work is required here and there. But not easy keeping a building like this up to scratch. Having a balcony sounded great, the reality is they are very small, with very uncomfortable metal chairs, so pretty useless really. Very worst element, was the way some customers treated the staff, they should be ashamed..

The location is specacular, right on the river Thames, next to the picturesque bridge that leads you across the river into Marlow High Street, literally a 2 minute walk. The room was lovely, overlooking the Thames, and the coffee machine was welcome. Staff happily provided extra capsules when requested.

The toiletries in the room did not include body lotion. The scent of the Elemis products provided was not wonderful. The bottles provided were rather small for 2 people, even for a one night stay. However, staff were happy to provide extras when requested. We originally planned just to visit the restaurant, but decided to book a night there. The Riverside Restaurant was ok, but nothing to write home about, and certainly not worth going to the hotel just for the restaurant.

Our twin room [#76]was very spacious and the bathroom was huge including 2 x wash basins. It was also very quiet. Coffee machine, kettle, iron, fan and even an oil filled radiator were provided. Beds were very comfortable. We didn't have a river/weir view but our room was bigger than friends who did have that view.

The shower unit was raised, which made it quite difficult to get in and out. It was also rather jaded. The curtains were frayed. Service in the restaurant was rather haphazard although all staff were very polite. £22.50 for a large glass of New Zealand wine from the bar just cannot be justified. Dodgy WiFi.

Very strong smell of onions and spices cooking throughout hotel and grounds when we arrived and although I love a curry it wasn’t very pleasant as the smell tends to cling to your clothes and hair! We were going to Henley festival so was a bit concerned that all our fancy clothes and luggage would end up smelling like a tandoori restaurant. I then noticed there’s an Indian restaurant within the hotel so I’m guessing the cooking smells were from the kitchen. The decor in the room is looking a bit tired and dated therefore the bathroom especially did look a bit grubby in the corners so probably soon in need of a makeover.

Lovely outlook, comfortable bed, good sized room, nice sitting area, evening meal was excellent, breakfast coffee pot was good and plentiful, On site parking was close to hotel.

Breakfast - Scrambled eggs were rubbery, mushroom was cold, gluten free toast was not toasted, Room - not enough 13amp sockets, TV programs didn't seem to be available, Fixtures and fittings were tired and needed some TLC, ie fridge cabinet doors needed adjusting, shower water was a little cool, shower room extraction fan didn't appear to be working.

Fantastic location, on the Thames and steeped in history. Very clean. And the staff were excellent especially the barman and staff at breakfast.

Tiny bottles of shower gel despite making a big point of it being special on the web site. Nothing for the bath. We had to ask twice for replacement of the shower gel. Same for bottles of water in the room. Maid came and went and didn’t remember to replace. Our room was a little battered around the edges, and the fridge didn’t work despite the light coming on.
