We have stayed here several times and as always, we found the staff very welcoming, friendly, helpful and professional. The building is beautiful and the decor and attention to detail is very good. Bedroom and bathroom very clean and comfortable. Excellent food. The whole experience feels special. Perfect Dartmouth location.

The lighting in our bedroom was completely inadequate with no overhead light. The window opened either tilted or side hinged. The side hinge option wouldn’t stay open so we had to wedge a towel in the opening. Neither option allowed the curtains to close. As a result, the curtain was hanging off the hooks on the pole where it had to be yanked to close. Given how high the standards are in the hotel, this was surprising when it could be so easily addressed.

From the initial friendly welcome where we were kindly upgraded to a lovely, quirky room, to the amazing hot cooked breakfast in the morning with freshly made coffee and finally a goodie bag for our journey containing fudge and water, we couldn't fault this place. We found a complimentary bottle of Prosecco on ice with two glasses in our room for us to celebrate our 20th anniversary which was a lovely surprise. The bed was comfy, the room warm and the bathroom clean. Thank you to all staff at Bayard's Cove who made our stay so special. You went above and beyond our expectations and that is very rare these days.

There was absolutely nothing to negative to report.

The Mountbatten room was just gorgeous - with a (partial) view of the cove. Large with a seating area as well as a huge comfortable bed and lovely linen. A particular mention for the staff who were always so cheerful and helpful, providing fresh milk and sugar cubes for our in-room tea/coffee! I would just mention that this room is right next door to the (upstairs) kitchen and whilst there is some level of noise, it didn't bother us or spoil our enjoyment of the room I felt it's worth pointing out! We had a wonderful time at Bayards Cove Inn and would very happily stay there again when next in Dartmouth.

Everything was perfect except they must have given the room we expected to others and we had a room one extra floor up which was a bit of a trick since my husband just had knee surgery and we paid about £30 more on booking.com than the hotel price. It was a fabulous hotel everything was very good and the food was delicious. I would like booking.com to give me a refund since I am a GENIUS on their site and I booked 3 hotels total but as far as the hotel it was perfect

There was nothing to dislike

This quirky 14th century inn has a lovely relaxed atmosphere with warm and friendly staff ( where nothing was too much trouble). Our room was clean & comfortable with a wonderful stamp of history. Everything from Toiletries to tea and coffee provided were of good quality, and replenished daily. Housekeepers were lovely and left rooms beautiful each day. All staff appeared very relaxed and happy 😊 Everyone made our little miniature dachshund very welcome even though she was aware of every guest in the building and insisted on letting everyone know ☺️. Breakfast choices were good , the full English was excellent , our dog enjoyed her sausage 🐾🐶 Location was Brilliant for boat trips and the steam train and within a comfortable walking distance to everything.

The car ferry operates very close by , a tad noisy but finishes by 11 pm so doesn’t disturb sleep 😴 Everything else perfect 😊

Breakfast and room drinks excellent. Decor of Bayards very pleasing and suited building. Bed excellent, bedding too. Housekeeping girls excellent and room spotless. Hotel was in excellent position near ferry, shops and castle. Hotel near to many other eating places and pubs which we used every day. We were very lucky to get a parking place directly outside Bayards for the duration of our stay and walked everywhere. The quirky characterful building dating back to the 1400's had many charms.

Evening meal was disappointing at Bayards - slowly cooked duck with seasonal vegetables was one small leg with red cabbage (hardly "seasonal vegetables" not cooked in sauce with a small square of dauphinoise potatoes; price was exorbitant for this meal as it was. Have had far better duck meals elsewhere; it was a let down. Bathroom in Beatty room was badly designed, ie one single small glass shelf over sink (awkward for washing), towel rail difficult over toilet (towels would not fit on it), no small towel rail for hand towel and no cabinet for toiletries. We could hear people in next door very clearly at night, and loud, in bed. We wondered whether this was why hotel had provided ear plugs in the bedroom.

The staff were fantastic, they made us feel like part of the family for the weekend. The breakfasts were delicious. The location was second to none. I really like the provision of ear plugs, we didn't need them as we always bring our own, but they felt honest. It's a hotel in a lovely but noisy location. Not a problem.

It did feel like quite a lot of money for a small hotel room, the booking process suggested something a bit bigger for that price. No complaints about the room - the one we had was lovely, just not quite what I had in mind when I booked.

A very quirky hotel without a straight edge anywhere. Full of authenticity and character. Staff were lovely as was the food. Excellent

Dartmouth is a difficult to park. We were lucky and managed to park behind the hotel which isn’t monitored so we left the car there the whole time. The hotel is right by the ferry which runs until 11pm and starts early. We enjoyed hearing the ramp sliding up the gangway but others may not.

We loved the Inn. They were so accommodating of our dog, our kids had a separate bunk bed room with lots of DvDs that kept them busy. They provided the best tea and coffee making facilities I have ever seen. With a cafetière and fresh coffee, mince pies and biscuits! The food was excellent and they had a great kids menu. We will definitely be coming again. The whole family and the dog had a brilliant time.

We went out for a drink one evening in the town and by the time we got back the inn had closed up. We didn’t know that our key allowed us into a side door so we spent quite a lot of time wondering how we would get in. A very small thing, but it would’ve been handy if they let us know that our door key let us in the side door in case they had closed up before we got home.

All the staff were friendly, which made our stay relaxing and enjoyable. A lovely atmosphere, breakfast was amazing! We like the fact that it was an old property with history, it was popular with others, regulars coming for coffee and cake along with newcomers, gave the place a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. This is due to the service that is given by the staff.

The fact that there was no allocated parking. Although with the date of the property and the location, I would not trade parking over the lovely time we had. I enjoyed wandering the streets and browsing the many lovely shops and eateries that Dartmouth has to offer.
