Was in a great location,plenty of shops, takeaways if we needed anything & we were well situated for berwick, St abbs, eyemouth, the room was a good size,we had all we needed & our room looked out across the square, the bed was very comfortable,it was clean,it's also pet friendly with no extra charges, the staff were very polite & considerate to our needs & the breakfast was exceptional, I'm gluten free & they even catered for my needs on short notice,the price of our stay was great too.

We were in room 8 which was situated above the bar/ pub entrance, so we could hear the door, constantly slamming when plp came in & out of the pub, as the door was spring loaded,which was abit annoying & our 2 dogs kept barking, the room was abit tired & could do with updating but it was big & clean & we were out exploring most of the day & just sleeping there, so we couldn't really complain at the cost & everything else was great..

Warm welcome on check in and staff were friendly and answered any questions . Had to eat in the bar area as i had the dog with me but made to feel welcome by the staff and locals .. Food wasn't bad either. Room clean and very comfortable bed . Plenty of tea,coffee and milk. Decor is a little tired but didn't detract from my stay .

Nothing really. little bit noisey on Saturday night with people leaving but to be expected as it is a pub .

It was the festival weekend for the town, so very busy and the stage and entertainment were right outside the front of the hotel. The staff did call to inform me of this well in advance so I was aware. When I arrived, the room I was originally booked into was right next to the stage so the manager advised that there was another room available at the back of the hotel which was only a single. This suited me fine as on my own so took this and have to say it was very comfortable, warm, and although the whole town was partying outside, I didn't hear a thing. Very much appreciate the effort the staff went to to make sure that needs were met and thought ahead before I arrived to resolve what could have been a problem before it was even a consideration.

There wasn't anything I didn't like. The room was clean, although if I had to say something, a little more attention to detail would be only thing I could say, things like around the holder for the shower head hadn't been moved to clean the pole.

We were travelling with a dog and the room was a great size for us. Very clean and the bed was so comfortable. Due to having a dog, we couldn't eat in the restaurant so had to eat in the bar which was absolutely fine for us. The food was lovely. Everyone we met who worked there was so friendly which made the stay more enjoyable. Would definitely stay again.

The breakfast was very good and a bargain at £7. We had the small breakfast with cereal and toast and everything was cooked to perfection. The evening meal in the bar was good unpretentious food and, again, very good value. All of the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

The decor was rather jaded but this is a small hotel in a quiet part of the Borders and the price reflected this. Would have no hesitation in recommending a stay here.

All the big things were perfect- friendly staff, good food, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was great, super cheap too!

Slightly outdated, small things like beading around floor was broken, toilet seat was worn down. This is an old building, but the decor doesn’t have to be. Perfectly comfortable though and fresh, soft bedding!

The hotel is well located, the food was great but the staff are definitely the highlight they were really helpful and friendly and a real credit to the hotel.

Some of the hotel is a bit tired, however our room was absolutely fine and I’m sure it’s a work in progress 😊 and I would stay here again.

Hidden gem is this place. The staff couldn't do enough and we're very friendly. The rooms were very nice and the bed was very comfortable. The food was freshly cooked and superb. And the bar was great. Fantastic stay ,would recommended to anyone.

There was nothing we found that we didn't like. Just a great place.

Nice little bar downstairs

Very nice stay. Made a mistake with booking and I believe it was the manager- sorted it out free of charge. Nice family room. Didn’t hoover under bed a lot of rubbish under there but aside from that all clean. Had a very intoxicated woman with pink hair harass us and make comments about the fact we were from the wrong side of the boarder but I assume she is a nightmare to everyone. Lovely staff.

The hotel was very old and had character. Parking good inspite of being so central. Room quirky. Restaurant OK. Staff really friendly and helpful. Breakfast quite good.

Mattress far too soft, needs replacing. Having to climb up 8 steep steps from bedroom to bathroom.
